OldNo7 exploded for a league-high 178 pts and the team’s first win since week 10 of last year .  Old started the year with two awful weeks, being last by far after two weeks.  However in weeks 3-4 Old has been the best team during that period and jumped back in the race, trailing second place only by 4 rank-points.  Old made a great last minute lineup change by benching D Anderson (6.25 pts) and played old man Favre instead.  Favre had a career-high 6 TDs and scored 45.5 pts.  As if it was not enough, LJ torched the Broncos with 2 TDs and almost 200 rushing yards.  S Jackson scored a TD and rushed for over 100 yards and also had almost 100 receiving yards.  A Boldin had a huge game before getting crushed at the end of a game in a scary collision.  Boldin caught 10 passes and had over 100 yards.  Let's hope Boldin has a prompt recovery.

WaxOnWaxOff took sole possession of first place by finishing second this week.  Wax’s trade with Spi should help the team in the long run because Rivers is a high quality QB.  However, this week Rivers was not particularly helpful with 2 INTs against the Raiders.  Wax got its production from receivers this week, with T Owens scoring a TD with 7 receptions.  TO whined after the game that he should have gotten the ball more - 18 targets were not enough .  Yeah, maybe MB3 should have carried the ball less than 8 times .  G Jennings scored his first 2 TDs of the season in a losing effort.  Wax traded away T Gonzalez which moved Zach Miller into the starting lineup.  Miller took advantage of the opportunity by scoring a long 63-yd TD against the Chargers.  On defense, Adrian Wilson missed the game due to an injury, but it turned out to be great news for Wax.  Backup D Revis intercepted Warner twice and scored a TD on one of them.

The JakesBlues continue to have early season success for an expansion team with the team’s best finish of the season in 3rd place and a season high 155.25 pts.  JB accomplished this despite top RB Addai being on bye and the team having no healthy RB2 to start.   D Brees picked up the slack with 3 TDs and 363 passing yards.  The Bucs D was the second highest scorer for JB with 21 pts.  The Bucs scored an important TD against the Packers, held their offense to only 14 pts and caused 4 turnovers.  JB was stuck in a close race with the BBs until Sunday Night when rookie DeSean Jackson left the BBs in the dust with a TD and over 100 total yards.  JB is now tied in 4th-6th place in the standings with FE and Dug and is only 3 rank-points from second place.  The period until week 10 will be crucial for JB because bye weeks will hurt JB more than the competition since JB has less depth.

The BeaudoinBrothers got an adequate 4th place this week and moved up to second in the standings but got distanced by Wax.  LT showed his first signs of life with 24.5 pts but most of those points came on a last minute garbage time 41-yd TD.  Portis failed to find the end zone but had an impressive 121 rushing yards in a surprise win in Dallas.  Witten’s 18.5 pts in that game were not enough to beat the Skins.  On defense the BBs made a last minute lineup change to bench the Jax defense at home against Houston and they started the Bills defense on the road in STL.  This turned out to be a great move as the Bills scored 13 pts compared to Jax who scored negative points .  This was one of the few good calls by the BB coach with the team languishing in 8th place in coaching efficiency.

The Spitoons finished in the middle of the pack but beating Dug and FE allowed Spi to move up to 3rd in the standings.  Spi made a brilliant trade before this week by trading their backup QB Rivers in return for a top TE (T Gonzalez) and an elite LB (P Willis) .  Gonzalez is currently 3rd best TE and Willis 2nd best LB.  This trade has Spi sitting on top of the league in terms of strength of starters and are now a legitimate contender for the league title.  Spi could show the league that last year’s last place was just a fluke.  Romo showed why Rivers was expandable by scoring 26.5 pts.  Steve Smith had his first decent game of the year with 18.75 pts.  If he can start clicking, he will be a difference maker for Spi after serving his 2-game suspension.  He is sorely needed because W Welker will not do the job without Brady.  The Spitoons now have a formidable LB duo with LB2 James Harrison actually performing like a LB1 so far.  Harrison got his second game with more than 20 pts this year.  Harrison was on fire against the Ravens with 6 tackles, 5 assists, and no less than 2.5 sacks, 3 QB hits, not mentioning that he forced a fumble.  Spi could have had a great week if franchise player Westbrook had not missed the week due to an injury and if R Bush could have done better than 31 yds rushing and 7 yds receiving.

The Dugongs disappointed with a second straight 6th place finish.  RB A Peterson led the way with 18.25 pts and Gore was not bad either with 12.25 pts.  At WR, Dug made the gutsy call of starting the dud Lee Evans because he was playing the Rams.  It did not turn out too bad because Evans scored a TD, but he disappointed with only 2 receptions.  Dug benched L Coles to allow room for Evans in the starting lineup.  Big mistake – L Coles scored 3 TDs in the same quarter against the sorry Cards defense.

On defense, Dug got most of the team’s production from G Wilson who got a safety and added 9 tackles and 2 assists.  Dug was hurt by Ju Tuck’s bye week because backup Dumervil is the most useless defensive player in the PQBFL by far.  Dumervil has scored 4 pts all year.  If we exclude L Little who scored only 13 pts because he missed 2 games due to an injury, the second worst DL after Dumervil almost has 4 times as many points: Hali with 15.5 pts.  And no, Dumervil has not had his bye yet.  Well, whether he’s on bye or not usually makes no difference because he got a goose egg this week.  If the Broncos wonder why their defense sucks balls and is getting crushed by everybody including the Chiefs, they need to look no further than Loservil.    It will be a shame if Loservil ever sees the field again as a starter in the PQBFL.

UncleJack achieved a mini-miracle of not finishing lower than 7th this week.  FE and Dec should be ashamed of getting beat by UJ.  UJ seemed to have planned in the preseason to take week #4 off by drafting so many players with byes at the same time: P Manning, P Burress, Calvin Johnson, D Clark, B Watson, P Kerney, D Freeney, and Damion Fletcher .  Considering the injury to QB V Young and college WR Dante Love, that meant UJ was stuck with 3rd string QB Schaub and had no college player to start, on top of having to start TE Crumpler who is not the shadow of his previous self.  This obviously resulted in a big zero at the rookie and TE position.  The WR position was tough with UJ’s two big guns on bye.  J Walker was poor with only 2 receptions, but at least D Mason caught 8 passes and over 100 yds on MNF.  But the week was saved by QB Schaub who threw of 3 TDs and 300 yds in a nice losing effort in Jacksonville.

FlyingElvis has been predicted to crash and the crash started this week.  FE barely scored 100 pts this week and will not smell first place again until 2009 at the very least.  JT O’Sullivan only scored 4.5 pts – back to earth for this chump.  MB3 was victim of TO’s whining and only scored 3 pts but if he does not get the ball, he cannot score.  McGahee is not a quality starting RB as long as he’s banged up.  He only got 5 pts on MNF.  At WR, injuries are catching up with FE.  Colston and K Curtis must come back because B Marshall cannot do it alone.  Chambers had an off game with only 4 pts.  Rookie QB Ryan has done well this year against bad defenses, but he had a sub-par game this week against the Panthers.  One of the few bright spots on FE’s team is the performance of LB Ruud who scored 14 pts and is currently the league’s 3rd best LB.

The Decepticons are by far the biggest disappointment this season.  After winning week 1, it’s been all downhill for Dec since then: 6th in week 2, 8th in week 3, and now dead last in week 4.  Dec failed to score 100 pts for the second straight week.  Cutler has been a top QB this year, but he was a little off against the Chiefs with 2 INTs.  Dec was not helped by having their top RB (B Jacobs) and top WR (R Wayne) on bye.  The team now has no choice but perform at a high level with critical byes behind.  However when your top RB is B Jacobs, this is a problem.  Jacobs is barely in the top 20 so far this year.  R Grant has been a huge bust and he scored negative points this week.  He’s the league’s 45th RB, only in front of a couple of backups (Betts, K Jones) and two injured guys (Cadillac and C Brown) .  Thomas Jones also got the start with R Grant.  He did better with 6.75 pts.  But how amazing is it to only score 6.75 pts when your offense puts up 56 on the board?  Wow, just wow.   In the spirit of looking at the bright side of life, T Jones did not fumble this week, and he did get a tackle which padded his score by one point .  And what about the Dallas defense.  Just when ESPN analysts start comparing the 2008 Cowboys to the 2007 Patriots, the Cowboys defense gets lit up with 26 pts and 381 yds at home against a division rival.  So much for the unbeaten season.  Dec slipped to 8th place in the standings with a stacked lineup and despite being last in the league in the injury points column.  The Dec coach has his seat reserved in the bar where Kiffin and Linehan drink every night .  Dec players are underperforming and the Dec coach is dead last by far in coaching efficiency.  Dec’s top player this week was actually on the bench: J Cotchery.  And the top scoring  starter was the freakin kicker.
