Weekly summary provided by Dec
Flying Elvis crushed the
competition in week 3 for the franchise's first week win since week 9 of last
season and has taken over first place overall in this young season.
Although we are only three weeks into the season, the last five (2003-2007)
PQBFL season winners have been leading through three weeks. However, the 4th
place team is only 1 rank point behind FE this year and the sixth place team is
only 3 rank points behind FE, parity the PQBFL has not seen in many years, if
ever, in its existence.
FE was lead by big performances from replacement QB O'Sullivan, Brandon Marshall
(possibly the steal of the draft with the 32nd pick and labeled FE's worst pick
by the preseason draft analysis ), and otherwise
strong production all around. FE is not particularly deep at the QB, RB, or WR
positions filled with players with injury concerns or losing touches to backups
and is not favored to carry the first place after three weeks to the
championship. FE's management is none too happy about not being given higher
odds to win the pqbfl championship, but a look at the roster justifies the odds.
Perennial favorites the BeaudoinBrothers, have not been superb through three
weeks but have been consistent which can be just as important in the long,
grueling pqbfl season. However, the BBs have weaknesses at the QB (Palmer is
not showing much this year, Roeth is hurt, Russell plays for the Raiders, and
Jackson is benched) and WR positions with Randy Moss reverting to his crybaby,
lollygagging ways without FE man-crush Tom Brady to throw the ball to him. BB
would be happy if they could start 4 RBs every week as they have 3 of the top 10
through week 3, and the 4th ranked on the team is franchise player LT! Although
the BBs lost by a hefty margin this week, they could have easily clinched first
place with a few different coaching decisions as Ronnie Brown scored five
touchdowns and 40.5 points on the bench and the BBs started Roeth who ended up
with an embarrasing -3.5 .
OldNo7 barely eeked out a 3rd place over JakesBlues by 0.25 points as Antonio
Gates fell just short of another reception for JB on Monday Night Football to
clinch 3rd place. Old carried decent performances all around and an impressive
85% coaching efficiency to third place this week ,
however after a miserable start to the season in weeks 1 and 2 are left in dead
last in the overall standings.
Although JakesBlues is left in 7th place overall after a 4th place week 3
finish, many teams in the league are impressed with the expansion team and have
been since the draft . JB also appears well
equipped for future seasons with a relatively young team and two top tier
rookies riped for saving in Felix Jones and DeSean Jackson. While it is a
stretch to expect JB to finish in the money, it will not be a surprise at all if
JB is the first expansion team to not finish in dead last since as long as this
writer can remember.
Spitoons finished in 5th this week to join the clusterf*ck at the top of the
overall standings just one rank point behind FE. Spitoons have been the most
consistent team through three weeks of the season and are surprising based on
preseason projections as the second best strength of starters per the PQBFL
leaders by position page . Besides some possible
depth issues at the RB position (despite having a league high 7 RBs!) the
Spitoons look well positioned to contend well into the season and not an early
season lucky wonder.
Dugongs followed up their week 2 win with a disappointing 6th in week 3. Dugongs
made a few critical and surprising coaching mistakes this week starting rookie
McFadden over Forte (13.75 pt difference) and Bryant Johnson over T.J. Donkey
face Housh (23 pt difference) . These
changes would have been a 2nd place for Dugongs instead of a 6th and Dug would
be in overall 1st place by 2 points through three weeks instead of 2 points
behind 1st place.
Wax, Dec, and UJ carried up the rear in week 3, all with obviously disappointing
outings. Wax and Dec are expected to be leaders in the league this year, so
this is even more disappointing for them as compared to UJ, which appears to be
in a rebuilding year. Despite the poor outing, Wax has the same rank points as
FE for a first place tie through three weeks and is expected to be a force for
the remainder of the year. Dec needs Ryan Grant to stop being such an asshole
if the team is going to fulfill expectations
this year. UJ has some work to do this year and is rumored to be looking to
trade some of its veteran players for young up and comers with potential in
preparation for future PQBFL seasons.
Note: sometimes the NFL announces stats changes and according to PQBFL rules, the results are not totally official until Sunday 1pm Eastern.
