2009 Week #15
1st Place WaxOnWaxOff 152.5 pts
2nd Place BeaudoinBrothers 141.75 pts
6th Place Decepticons 108.25 pts
8th Place FlyingElvis 87.25 pts
WaxOnWaxOff is back on top, this
week and overall in the standings with a key win so late in the season. Wax
increased their lead to 3 rank-points over the BeaudoinBrothers and 5
rank-points over the Decepticons. This was Wax’s fifth win of the season so Wax
has won one third of all 15 weeks so far, which is much better than Dec (3
wins), Spi & UJ (2 wins), and Beaud/JB/FE one win each
. Only Dug and Old are winless this season.
This week, Wax got off to a fast start and already had a big option on the win
after the Thursday game. MJD scored 2 TDs and rushed for over 100 yards and
Dallas Clark added 2 TDs on his own and almost 100 yds receiving in the Thursday
matchup. Wax only needed to be average on Sunday to secure the win, and Rivers
(23.25 pts) + C Wells (16.25 pts) did enough to counterbalance some bad games by
T Owens and the Vikings defense.
The one-legged BeaudoinBrothers
managed to stay in the race by losing only 1 rank-point to Wax, but benefiting
from Dec’s struggle to move up to second place. It seems unlikely the
BeaudoinBrothers can win the league if Michael Turner does not return to health
. Turner only got one carry on Sunday. The
BBs would have needed more fire power from Gore and Schaub but both did worse
than their season average with 10.5 pts and 13.75 pts. The BBs were able to
finish second due to strong games from DeSean Jackson who scored another TD this
week, Boldin (14.5 pts), and the Eagles defense which dominated the 49ers.
UncleJack finished in the top 3
for the third time in four weeks, and for the 4th time in six weeks.
From week 10-15, UJ earned 39 rank-points, only one behind Wax with 40 during
this period, and better than even Dec with 38 rank-points
. Unfortunately, UJ was in such a deep hole that
the recent success only moved UJ up to 7th place in the standings and
there is still a lot of work to be done to climb to 6th place, Old
being 9 rank-points ahead with 2 weeks to go. UJ got most of the production
from P Manning who threw for 4 TDs on Thursday and scored 34 pts. Chris Johnson
was a bit of a disappointment with no TD and a fumble lost. At WR, S Holmes
only scored 6.75 pts despite the Steelers scoring 37 pts against the Packers.
The Dugongs finished 4th
and moved to 2 rank-points behind Spi in 4th place in the standings.
If it was not for QB A Rodgers, the Dugongs would be in deep shit. Rodgers lit
up the Steelers defense for 43.5 pts and even that was not enough for the
Dugongs to reach the top 3. Braylon Edwards scored on a long TD and Fitz added
a short one, but the rest of Dug’s lineup was pretty bad. The Steelers scored
-2 pts, the stupid kicker missed a FG, Dug has not had a startable rookie all
year, defense was nothing to write home about, and Dug started the wrong TE
again (V Davis 5 pts, A Gates 11.5 pts) .
The Spitoons finished in the
middle of the pack with 116.25 pts and is now virtually eliminated
. Even finishing third will be almost
impossible, needing to beat Dec by 8 rank-points in two weeks. Wes Welker had
an unusual week off with only 7.25 pts. Spi’s RBs did even worse, Forte 2.75
pts and Ju Jones 5.25 pts. Forte has been putting the ball on the ground more
often than in the end zone, fumbling twice this week and losing one of them. A
rare bright spot for Spi was the 19.5 pts scored by the Ravens defense and Romo
finally playing well in December, putting up 20 pts in New Orleans in a
surprising win to knock down the Saints from undefeated status.
The Decepticons’ hope for a
PQBFL championship took a tough hit with a disappointing 6th place
. Dec was red hot and looked unstoppable from
week 11 to 14, but now 5 rank points behind Wax will be difficult to overcome
because Dec needs Wax to stumble as much as Dec needing to finish in the top 2
or 3 in both weeks 16 and 17. Old man Favre spent all night on his ass and
refused to have his ass on the bench. He ended the night with 4.25 pts. At RB,
old man T Jones who has also had a surprising year, only rushed for 52 yds and
no TD. The only production for Dec came from the WRs A Johnson (18.75 pts) and
V Jackson (24.25 pts) otherwise Dec would have had a disastrous 7th
place or lower. Dec’s LBs have been a force all year, Willis and Harris
averaging 26 pts per week together, but this week they scored only 18 pts, which
is quite good by the standards of other LBs, but not enough for Dec.
OlNo7 attempted a comeback on
MNF to beat Dec, but fell short . E Manning
scored 27.75 pts in DC, but rookie Orakpo only scored one point in that game.
Not that it matters too much for Old who seems almost stuck in 6th
place in the standings now, trailing the Dugongs by 5 rank-points. S Jackson
battled the swine flu and scored 10.25 in a honorable effort. It is
questionable whether he will return as Old’s franchise player next year or
whether he will be overtaken by DeAngelo Williams. Old’s receivers were crap
this week, 5.5 pts from Calvin Johnson, 4.75 pts from Roddy White, and Old
started the injured Shockey instead of T Gonzalez (9.5 pts). The Decepticons
should consider themselves lucky for this miscue.

The JakesBlues finished last
following two good weeks 13-14 (3rd, 3rd). JB fell to 8th
place in the standings and red hot UJ will most likely not allow JB to go back
to 7th. JB can only pack their bags and prepare to have the first
pick of the 2010 draft because JB has earned the most injury points so far
. Any time D Brees does not bail out JB, the
team sucks. Brees scored 6 pts this week and caused the demise of the entire
team. No help came from the RBs (13 pts combined), ass-hole P Crayton (2.25
pts), and particularly not defense (team + individual) with a total of only 14
pts. Rookie Crabtree has also had a season to forget, joining the team way too
late.
Note: sometimes the NFL announces stats changes and according to PQBFL rules, the results are not totally official until Sunday 1pm Eastern.
