2009 Week #02
2nd Place BeaudoinBrothers 147.5 pts
3rd Place WaxOnWaxOff 135.25 pts
6th Place FlyingElvis 112.25 pts
8th Place JakesBlues 88.75 pts
The Decepticons swung back from
dead last in week #1 to the top in week #2 in a drastic turn of events
. Franchise player Andre Johnson was silent
in week #1 but he made his presence felt to the Titans who suffered a painful
loss to start 0-2. AJ caught two TDs including a long one out of his 10
receptions. QB Cutler had a tough matchup against the Steelers but was
able to pull off 17.75 pts and a win for his team. Rookie Percy Harvin
caught 5 passes and a short TD and quietly moved into first place in the rookie
standings. Not bad for a 9th round pick. Dec can only hope that he
keeps this up.
The BeaudoinBrothers improved
from last week's performance and by beating Dug by three ranks this week, moved
into first place in the standings. Beaud could have easily finished first
if they started Schaub instead of C Palmer .
It's not that Palmer did badly (4 TDs), but Schaub had his 4 TDs without any
turnover while Palmer had three, and Schaub passed for 172 more yards than
Palmer. First round pick Frank Gore was the main reason the BBs could gain
some separation in the standings, by ripping off two very long TDs runs of 79
yds and 80 yds. WRs S Smith and C OchoCinco did well with 15.5 pts and
14.5 pts. The BBs were held back by another amazingly shitty performance
by the Cowboys defense. In two games they have allowed 54 pts, almost 900
yds, no turnover, not even a forced fumble, and no sack. That against two
subpar offenses (TB, NYG). Wow. The Eagles defense is called to the
podium please.
WaxOnWaxOff had another ok week,
finishing third. Consistency can lead a team far in this lead, so Wax
moved up to third place in the standings, only two rank-points behind Beaud and
one behind Dug. Wax just needs more fire power. The only player for
Wax to put up a great game was Dallas Clark on MNF in what was essentially a
wasted effort because Wax already had a decent lead over Dug and Old.
Wax's problem at RB2 is continuing to develop .
Ahman Bradshaw started and only scored 3.75 pts. The sad thing is that the
only RB on Wax's roster who did better was Mendenhall with 4.25 pts. Wax
needs M Lynch to come back from suspension and perform well, which is not a
given due to Fred Jackson's success.
OldNo7 finished fourth, barely
edging Dug and FE this week. QB M Ryan had another solid week and
currently sits at QB4 in the league. He led the Falcons to a promising 2-0
start, although the Falcons' games were at home. Let's see what he can do
on the road. Old also had acceptable production at RB and WR, all starters
scoring between 9.75 pts and 13.5 pts. The problem for Old was more on
defense where the four starters only scored 21 pts. Old's coach tried to
make a roster change at 1:01pm which was denied and it cost Old 4 pts
. Fortunately it did not have any
impact on the standings. Old tried to bench LB Derrick Johnson who got
lucky to escape with 5 pts, because the dude only got one tackle all game, but
it was a sack.
The Dugongs only needed 4.75 pts
from Gibril Wilson on MNF to beat Old, but he failed, scoring only 3.5 pts.
It was an extremely frustrating game for G Wilson. It's not that he did
badly, but when the opponent's offense is only on the field for 35 plays (vs 84
offensive plays for the Dolphins' offense), it's tough to score much
. The Dugongs otherwise had a lackluster
week, several starters being just average. Adrian Peterson scored 13.5 pts
which is not awful, but more was expected against the Lions. Same for
McFadden. He got a short TD which saved the day, but 55 total yds is just
not enough, particularly against the Chiefs. L Fitz and D Bowed scored a
TD, but they only combined for 90 yds. Dug did not get an explosion from
any starter which cost the team.
FlyingElvis
UncleJack got his ass kicked
again this week with only 89.5 pts, but at least UJ finished 7th, not 8th.
However UJ fell to last in the standings. If it was not for P Manning's
26.25 pt performance on MNF, UJ would have finished being JB this week. UJ
beat JB by less than a point. While P Manning rallied the Colts to a
victory, J Addai did not contribute, scoring only 3.25 pts. WR Roy
Williams did well in week #1, but only caught a meagre pass this week.
Note the UJ benched first round pick Chris Johnson this week, at home against
the unpenetrable Texans defense. Is this man insane?
Has Chris Johnson pooped on the coach's
head? Johnson scored 3 TDs over 50 yards and 47.5 freaking points this
week, a 44-pt swing relative to Addai. UJ could have been 4th this week so
this decision cost the team 3 ranks.
The JakesBlues came back to
earth after a week #1 win and finished 8th. Brees had another great game
with 24.25 pts and he leads the entire league by far (average 35.0 pts vs 26.5
pts for Chris Johnson). JB's RBs and WRs combined for only 13.25 pts.
Greg Jennings got a goose egg against the Bengals at home. No reception.
Nothing. Was he sick or something?
And what about Santana Moss who only had 3 receptions for 35 yards at home
against the Rams? And the loser lost a fumble.
The Spitoons were absolutely
dreadful this week with only 60.75 pts .
When a benched player from a bad team like UJ almost outscores the entire Spi
starting squad, there is a problem. Rookie LB Cushing scored 11.5 pts, but
after that the entire Spi lineup was shit. Romo, R Wayne, Westbrook, Ju
Jones all scored between 4 and 7 pts. Wes Welker started but was injured.
But backup Brandon Marshall did not do any better than his starting teammates
with 5.25 pts. The TE, K, Def, DL, and DB combined for 9 big pts and none
of them were injured. The Spitoons had a respectable third place finish
last week but just got temporarily knocked out of the race this week.
Note: sometimes the NFL announces stats changes and according to PQBFL rules, the results are not totally official until Sunday 1pm Eastern.
