2008 Week #6
1st Place WaxOnWaxOff 143.75 pts
3rd Place Decepticons 129.75 pts
7th Place BeaudoinBrothers 110.5 pts
8th Place JakesBlues 87.75 pts
WaxOnWaxOff took back first
place in the standings with the team’s first win of the season and crushing the
BeaudoinBrothers and Spitoons this week . Wax
now leads by 5 rank-points over the BBs. Wax was stuck in the middle of the
pack before SNF but P Rivers showed his value by carrying the team to victory
with 28 pts against the Patriots. At RB Wax had to start the Jacksonville duo
of MJD and F Taylor. Taylor bombed out with -1.5 pts but MJD picked up the
slack with 25.25 pts. On defense Wax continues to get production out of M
Williams who got two more sacks and still leads the league at DL.
FlyingElvis was flying high
after the 4pm games but fell flat on SNF and squandered a big lead to be edged
out by Wax by only 0.75 pt . M Cassel only
scored 5 pts and the kicker only 3 pts for a total of 8 compared to Rivers’ 28
pts. FE had a very up and down roster this week with a few big contributors and
a few players who did not show up. MB3 scored 21.25 pts although most of his
points were on a short reception turned into a long TD due to horrendous
tackling by the Cards late in the game. The Colts defense looked like the
Ravens defense against Baltimore as they held the birds to 3 pts on 4 sacks and
5 turnovers. Julian Peterson had a nice game at LB with 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1
forced fumble, and 2 QB hits. Rookie Matt Ryan had a very impressive 15 pts
against the tough Bears defense. This guy is for real.
The Decepticons came out on top
of a very close pack in 3rd to 5th place with 129.75 pts
compared to 127.75 pts for Dug and 126.5 pts for UJ. Dec’s WRs led the way with
21.75 pts for A Johnson and 20.75 pts for R Wayne. For R Wayne it was a regular
day at the office but it was nice to see A Johnson string two good games because
he had been inconsistent this year so far. J Cutler continues to be a nice
surprise for Dec and scored 15 pts, although that was a bit below his season
average. Dec got unexpected production from ancient RB Thomas Jones who scored
3 TDs. Yes, that is the same dude who only scored 2 TDs last year in 16 games.
On defense, Dec was supposed to be in good shape this season with the Pats and
the Cowgirls. However the Pats’ defense struggles without Brady on the
sidelines to cheer them up. And the Cowgirls proved to be vastly overrated.
After almost losing the game against the Bengals, the Cowgirls got blasted for
30 pts against the Cards.
The Dugongs finished 4th
this week in what was a disappointment given the favorite status this week based
on Vegas odds. The usual suspects did the work for Dug. A Rodgers scored 24.5
pts in Seattle and M Forte scored 14 pts against the Falcons. Rodgers currently
ranks QB3 in the league and Forte is still the top rookie by more than 2 pts per
game. If Dug wants to move up in the standings, they sorely need franchise
player A Peterson to start playing. What is this guy’s excuse? He has talent,
he has a great offensive line, C Taylor is not stealing many carries, he is not
injured, and the coach feeds him the ball. What the phukk is going on?
Peterson fumbled the ball twice and nearly cost the Vikings the win against the
sorry Lions at home. That would have been the absolute shame.
Peterson does not even make the top 15
RB this year so far – he needs to wake up soon for Dug.
UJ had a decent week with 126.5
pts but needed 3.5 more points to get 3rd place and came out with the
short end of the stick vs Dec and Dug. P Manning finally had a good game
against the most unexpected opponent – the Ravens defense. Manning scored 29
pts. UJ benefited from B Westbrook’s (Spi) injury because Buckhalter started
and scored 19.75 pts. This was great because RB is a position of weakness for
UJ for the xth year in a row. E Graham was drafted to be UJ’s RB1 and he did
not too too bad this week with 9.75 pts but most came on a 1-yd TD. His 11 yds
rushing is cause for concern because old man W Dunn is getting most of the
carries. The UJ coach can be blamed for the 5th place. The coach
benched Calvin Johnson and started D Mason instead. That was a costly mistake
because Johnson scored 11.25 pts compared to Mason’s 6.5 pts.
The Spitoons’ coach screwed up
this week and should be considered lucky the team did not finish lower than 6th.
Spi started two defensive guys on bye week in a move that cost 8 pts. Luckily
this did not cost any rank this week. Romo scored 29.5 pts but he did not
deserve many of those points especially those on the long TD reception by MB3
. Romo put the ball in the grass three
times but only lost one of these fumbles. And now the wimp says he’s injured to
his pinky and cannot play. One has to wonder why B Favre has Romo’s phone
number, but the phone call by Favre was warranted. Favre explained how a tough
guy can play through these minor injuries. R Bush scored 2 more TDs for Spi and
this time they were traditional TDs, not special team kick returns. Bush ranks
second best RB in the league so far. On SNF, W Welker easily beat R Moss (Beaud)
to secure 6th place.
The BeaudoinBrothers were
another team this season to follow up a win with a horrible performance the
following week. With C Palmer injured and Roeth on bye, the BBs had to start J
Russell. He had a decent year so far but not in week 6. He looked bad and did
not score a single point. WR R Moss could have
lifted the BBs to at least sixth place but only caught three short passes on SNF.
Witten did not do much against the Cards but he cannot be blamed since he’s the
most dominating player at his position, leading all other TEs by more than 4 pts
per game. On defense, the BBs got off games by Winfield (2 pts) and D Ryans
(5.5 pts). Rookie Slaton was held in check by the Dolphins and only scored 5
pts. The only bright spot for the BBs was Portis who scored twice but it was in
a losing effort against the dismal Rams at home.
The JakesBlues continue to sink
in the standings with an 8th place this week. Brees scored 27 pts
and was by far the best player on JB’s team this week. A Gates scored a TD,
Randle El reached double digits, and so did Tatupu. But the rest of JB’s lineup
was nothing to write home about, especially at the RB position. Addai only
scored 0.25 pt before getting injured. E James is being outscored by rookie
Hightower on a regular basis. E James only scored 2.25 pts this week. S Moss
had a great start with at least 12.75 pts in each of the first four weeks.
However S Moss only scored 3 pts in the last two weeks combined. The Giants
defense was stunningly bad on MNF and scored -3 pts. They allowed 28 pts to the
Browns and did not come up with a single sack or turnover
. Meanwhile, on the bench the Bucs D scored 23
pts for JB. That was a huge 26 pt swing right there. At the rookie position,
JB started F Jones but he got injured and scored 1.75 pts compared to D Jackson
and J Carlson on the bench who both got double digits.
OldNo7 was unable to reach 75
pts this week and crashed to last place . This
was already the second last place for Old this year and the team dropped to 7th
place in the standings. The only player to score more than 7 pts besides Hester
this week was B Edwards but that was on MNF when Old was already guaranteed of
last place so Edwards had no pressure. The rest of Old’s lineup was crap across
the board with Favre leading the way with 3 turnovers and S Jackson adding
another one. Even the Bears defense was dominated by a rookie QB in Atlanta.
Note: sometimes the NFL announces stats changes and according to PQBFL rules, the results are not totally official until Sunday 1pm Eastern.
