2007 Week #15
1st Place Decepticons 155.75 pts
2nd Place UncleJack 123.75 pts
3rd Place WaxOnWaxOff 115.25 pts
5th Place BeaudoinBrothers 102 pts
6th Place FlyingElvis 99.5 pts
The Decepticons crushed all other teams by more
than 30 pts to take their third win of the season .
This is the second most wins in the league after Beaud (5) and tied with the
Dugongs with three. The 'Cons left OldNo7 in the dust to take a commanding
lead in 4th place of the standings but unfortunately are 9 rank-points behind FE
so it is unlikely Dec will be able to do better than 4th place. In a week
where most QBs struggled, D Brees' two TDs was more than any other starter.
On one of his 2 TDs, Brees connected with Colston who finished with a good game
(19.5 pts). Colston had a slow start this year, ranking 28th best WR out
of 42 after seven weeks. In the last eight games however, Colston has
scored at least 14.25 pts in all but one game and he has averaged 17.2 pts.
He is now the 9th best WR in the league. The Patriots defense also had a
good game and picked up the slack from their struggling offense by scoring a TD
and handing off one TD to the offense after blocking a punt and recovering at
the Jets' 3 yd line.
UncleJack finished 2nd for the second time in
three weeks but failed to gain much ground on Wax who finished third. UJ
is now only one rank-point behind Wax in the standings with the tie-breaker
still being undetermined at this point since UJ has scored 13.75 fewer total
points than Wax, which is too close to call. Since week #12, UJ has been
the third best team in the league with 22 rank-points, barely behind Beaud (23)
and Dug (26). UJ got things done this week by playing defense.
Adalius Thomas was all over the place with 1.5 sack, 2 forced fumbles, one QB
hit, 8 tackles and one assist . Ronde Barber
picked off a pass and returned it for a TD. Kerney got 6 tackles and 2
assists at DL and the Packers D had a decent game by holding the Rams to 14 pts.
On offense, Portis led the way with 15.5 pts. UJ's other RB J Lewis also
did well with 14.5 pts in the blizzard. P Manning had a bit of an off game
with only 13.25 pts, but that was nonetheless the third best QB performance this
week amongst PQBFL starters.
WaxOnWaxOff only scored 115.25 pts this week, but
that was enough for third place. This was the lowest third place score of
the season. Like UJ, Wax did most of his damage on defense in this low
scoring week. DL Mario Williams got 3.5 sacks and is not looking like a
foolish NFL first pick overall in front of Reggie Bush who is overrated.
LBs Ray Lewis and DJ Williams both scored double digits and the Vikings D
continues to perform at a high level with 10 more points this week. They are
surprisingly the league's third best defense. On offense, Wax did not do
much besides B Marshall catching 11 passes on Thursday night. Marshall
continues to benefit from J Walker's absense. M Bulger had a rough day
against the Packers with only one TD and 2 INTs. RBs have been a problem
all year for Wax and this week was no exception. Rudi scored 1.75 pts and
Ju Jones scored 1.25 pts. On the bench, Wax only got 4 pts from Rhodes
with the other 4 RBs all being injured. Wax had ten players missing the
game due to an injury this week, pushing Wax's injury point total to a
jaw-dropping 2181 . For comparison
purposes, the Dugongs led the league last year with 1248. And Wax will
rack up another 300+ in the last two weeks of the season and will finish close
to 2500 injury points, about double of what Dug got last year.
The Dugongs needed to crush the BBs this week to
keep their hopes alive for the league's title but failed to do that by only
finishing 4th. The Dugongs scored 112.25 pts which was their lowest score
of the year. However, Dug managed to beat FE by 2 ranks so they extended
their lead to 6 rank-points in second place. Rookie Adrian Peterson was
the team's best scorer this week with 19.75 pts. He is helping the Vikings
hold on to the NFL's last playoff spot. WR Greg Jennings also had a good
game with 17.25 pts. This was Jennings' fifth straight game with a TD.
Jennings scored in all but 2 games this year and has a total of 12 TDs. He
is currently the league's 6th best WR and is probably the best surprise of all
WRs this season. Note that Jennings was acquired in a trade from Wax in
the offseason in return for Ju Jones (35th best RB) in what turned out to be a
great trade by the Dugongs' GM . The rest
of Dug's team was below average, with C Taylor only scoring 3 pts and Dug's LBs
combining to only 10 pts.
The BeaudoinBrothers got beat by Dug by one
rank-point so they saw their first place lead shrink from 15 to 14 rank-points.
With two weeks to go, all the BBs have to do is to avoid finishing last two
weeks in a row, or get some help to avoid the Dugongs finishing first in those
two weeks. This is quite unlikely to happen and Vegas has the Dugongs'
line to win the league at 100 million to one. However remember last year's
collapse in the last two weeks by the BBs where Spi finished first in both weeks
#16 and #17 and the BBs finished last and 6th, so this is not as impossible as
Vegas seems to think. The BBs actually helped the Dugongs consolidate
their second place lead over FE by edging Elvis by 2.5 pts this week. The
BBs had their lowest score of the year by far, only scoring 102 pts. Romo
was awful with -2.75 pts and the BBs' LB duo of D Ryans and E Sims who was
previously best in the PQBFL disappointed with only 10.5 pts combined. DB
Kerry Rhodes only scored 3 pts as the Patriots' offense sucked so bad that they
kept punting the ball all game. Franchise player LT was the only player to
have a very good game by scoring 20.25 pts in only one half of play, resting for
the entire second half. The BB coach benched A Gates again and this time
it was the right choice. Witten scored 14.5 pts compared to only 1.5 pt
for Gates. This decision made the difference for two rank points this week.
FlyingElvis' season is going into a tail spin with
a 6th place finish this week. FE has only gotten 13 rank-points in the
last four weeks, which is the worst of the PQBFL except for the Spitoons during
that span and tied with Old. FE's scores have been trending down and got
below 100 pts for the first time of the year. Brady's slowdown is the
major reason for this change. Brady only scored 2.25 pts this week against
the Jets and this is the fourth time in 6 games that he could not top 20 pts.
MJD did not have a bad game statistically (69 yds rushing and 30 yds receiving),
but that hides the fact that MJD was held out of the end zone on three straight
plays in the third qtr of his game. On the first play he dropped a sure TD
in the end zone, on the second play he was tackled at the 1-yd line, and on the
third play he was stopped for no gain. Seeing that he could not get the
job done, the Jaguars decided to go with someone else to score the damn TD
. J Addai also had a rough game with
only 77 yds from scrimmage against the Raiders and he did not score a TD.
At WR FE was abysmal. Star players T Owens and P Burress combined for 5
catches for 72 yds and no TD - only 3.75 pts and 4.75 pts for them.
On the bright side, LB Urlacher led FE to
a great comeback on MNF to allow FE to beat Old and almost beat the BBs.
Urlacher almost beat the Vikings by himself, sacking the QB twice, intercepting
a pass, and recovering a fumble for a total of 21 pts. The other good
performance for FE came from TE Scheffler who caught 7 passes for 100 yds and a
TD. After scoring only one point in the first four weeks of the season,
Scheffler has improved and he averaged 8.7 pts per game since then, which would
put him as the league's 7th best TE.
Old had a second bad game in a row and finished
7th. Franchise player S-Jax scored 22 pts against the Packers, and C
Palmer had a decent game with 16.25 pts, but the rest of Old's team struggled.
WR B Edwards had no chance to rack up great stats due to the weather. RB M
Barber only scored 3.25 pts because his team was behind for most of the game.
Shockey broke his leg and only scored 2.75 pts.
On defense, Old was bad with the Chiefs
allowing 26 pts to the Titans at home, not getting a turnover, and in fact even
fumbling a punt to finish the game at minus one in the turnover category.
DL Ju Peppers only scored 2 pts and he now
ranks 12th DL in the league out of 20 with only 5.9 pts per game. Peppers
was supposed to be a quality saved player for Old as the 2nd ranked DL on most
preseason draft lists behind J Taylor (Spi), but Peppers has been a huge
disappointment. DB Sean Jones has had a good year with the most points
scored at the position (Winfield and G Wilson have a better average but missed
some games), but Jones had an off week with only 5 pts.
The Spitoons finished last for the sixth time this
year and for the third time in four weeks. This was the fifth straight
finish in 7th or 8th place for Spi in what has been a bad season turning into
horrible. The Spitoons' winning percentage is currently .248, which is
worse than the Dugongs last year (.315), worse than FE in 2005 (.275), and worse
than UJ in 2004 (.400). We have to go back to 2003 to witness a shittier
season and it was accomplished by the very same Spitoons with a winning
percentage of .218 in their expansion year. This is still much better than
the expansion team OldNo7 of year 2000 who drafted drunk and posted a winning
percentage of .132 which is a record never to be broken again, finishing last
for 12 weeks out of 17 .
Franchise player S Alexander's days in the Spitoons' uniform are coming to an
end. Alexander scored 0.75 pts this week and it is even doubtful at this
point if he will even be drafted in 2008 since he sucks so bad. Alexander
has scored more than 3 pts in only two of his last eight games. Heck, even
Priest Holmes has been able to score more than 3 pts more than twice in only
four games this year, or other backups like Najeh Davenport, Ladell Betts, Leon
Washington, or the Seahawks' own M Morris all have done it!
Maurice Morris has outscored S Alexander for
five straight games in which Alexander was active. Apart from J Taylor's
18.5 pts this week, Spi got no production with Galloway only scoring 1.25 pt,
Winslow 3.25 pts due to the blizzard, Stover missing two FGs and costing his
team the win against the lowly Dolphins, the Ravens defense only scoring 1.5 pt
against those Dolphins, and L Fitz only catching two passes (fortunately one of
those was for a TD). But the best moment came with Westbrook intentionally
falling at the 1-yd line after breaking a 25-yard run to preserve his team's
win. What a great move by an unselfish player who only cares about his
team winning the game, not his personal stats.
Note: sometimes the NFL announces stats changes and according to PQBFL rules, the results are not totally official until Sunday 1pm Eastern.
