2007 Week #2
1st Place WaxOnWaxOff 185.25 pts
3rd Place Decepticons 161.25 pts
4th Place BeaudoinBrothers 156.25 pts
5th Place UncleJack 150.25 pts
6th Place FlyingElvis 145.75 pts
WaxOnWaxOff exploded with 185.25 pts this week for
the team's first win since weeks #1-2 of 2006.
Randy Moss scored 27.25 pts to follow up
last week's 26 pts and showed that he is for real this year. Wax has a few
PQBFL owners to thank for not cutting Moss this year. Wax's WRs might turn
out to be an indestructible force this year because S Smith is also clicking on
all cylinders with 35.5 pts this week. S Smith scoring on bombs also helps
J Delhomme who scored 26 pts despite the Panthers' loss. The Vikings
defense had another huge game with 16 pts and they scored another TD. They
currently lead all defenses by far. Rookie Calvin Johnson scored a TD for
a second game in a row and looks to justify the high draft pick spent on him.
Wax suddenly jumps to the top of the standings and is an instant contender.
OldNo7 rebounded from week #1's last place with
184.25 pts and a second place. Old should have won this week but T Spikes
choked with only 5 pts on MNF. This extends Old's drought to 38 straight
weeks without a first place. Old was the only team not to win in 2006
besides the Dugongs, but the Dugongs won in week #17 of 2005. Old's last
win dates back to week #15 of 2004! Old's team was carried this week by C
Palmer throwing for 6 TDs and B Edwards responding with 2 TDs of his own and
29.25 pts. He is key to Old's success due to the lack of depth at WR for
Old. The Bears D and Briggs dominated the sorry Chiefs with 20 and 21.5
pts respectively. Note that RBs might be a headache this season for Old.
S Jackson has a slow start and R Bush has a horrible start. On the bench
is M Barber III who shockingly leads all RBs in the PQBFL after two weeks.
The Decepticons also rebounded from a bad week #1
with a third place this week. Cooley scored a TD on MNF to beat the
BeaudoinBrothers. Unlike Wax and Old, nobody on the Dec team had a big
week except for A Johnson who scored 25 pts. Almost everybody contributed
on Dec's team. All starters scored 8.5 pts or more except the kicker and
the college player. The second highest scorer after A Johnson was the Pats
defense who were very impressive in holding the Chargers offense in check and
scoring a TD. Rookie LB P Willis had another double-digit game and he is
right behind A Peterson (Dug) and Ca Johnson (Wax) in the rookie standings.
Drew Brees was not as bad as last week, but 11.25 pts against the Bucs remains a
disappointing game. He only scored a short
TD and had one INT.
The BeaudoinBrothers finished in the middle of the
pack with a 4th place and are now tied to Wax in first place of the standings.
LT only scored 5.75 pts this week, which almost matches his worst game of 2006
(5.5 pts). LT only has 68 rushing yards in 2 games. He needs to wake
up for the BBs to have any success this year.
A Gates has picked up the slack with 16.75 pts
this week and he leads all TEs by over 5 pts on average so far.
Roethlisberger came back to earth after his big week #1 game with 10.75 pts this
week. He only scored one short TD. At WR the BeaudoinBrothers scored
3 TDs (Holt 1, TJ Housh 2) but that was not enough to keep up with Wax and Old's
WRs.
UncleJack slowed down to a fifth place this week
but remains third in the standings after two weeks. Chad Johnson had a
huge week with 34.25 pts against the Bengals and E James showed that the Cards
offensive line has improved from last year. The new coach also puts more
emphasis on the running game which helps James. Edge scored 18.5 pts and
he currently ranks 2nd best RB. UJ unfortunately started the wrong 2nd RB
again. Chris Brown only scored 3 pts
this week against the Colts while Jamal Lewis ran wild for 215 yds and a long TD
against the shitty Bengals defense. Note that LB Lofa Tatupu is having a
nice season start with 15 pts last week and 17 pts this week. He leads all
LBs so far.
FlyingElvis came up a bit short again with a 6th
place despite scoring over 140 pts for the second straight week. T Brady
is proving to be a great franchise player selection with 25.25 pts while Larry
Johnson struggles for the Dugongs. T Owens
and D Driver both caught a TD pass. At RB, first round pick Addai scored
for a second straight game and he currently ranks 5th best RB. The problem
for FE is the second RB. The coach made the mistake of benching L Jordan
(13.25 pts) and starting MJD (3.25 pts). This sent 10 pts down the toilet.
MJD is a huge bust so far (37th best RB - 3rd round pick). The other
problem for FE is the TE position. V Davis is not getting the job done (average
2.5 pts per game). The backup TEs for FE are even worse. FE has the
18th, 19th, and 20th TEs in the league out of .... 20 TEs. That's right,
FE has the worst three of the entire league.
The Dugongs finished 7th this week and dropped to
last place in the PQBFL standings. Larry
Johnson had all kinds of red flags around him in the preseason but the Dugongs
took him first overall anyway. LJ scored 7.25 pts like last week and he is
not getting the job done. At least this week he had the excuse of playing
a tough defense in Chicago. For those who did not watch MNF, D McNabb is
looking like crap. He is obviously bothered by his knee and cannot run
freely. His passes are way off too. The Dugongs had a chance to
finish as high as 3rd this week if McNabb had a good game but he did not reach
double-digits by not scoring a single TD. The Dugongs' WRs were expected
to be the team's weakness and it's happening. Boldin and L Coles both
scored less than 9 pts which is really bad given that the entire league is
blowing up at the WR position with S Smith (Wax), Chad Johnson (UJ), R Moss
(Wax), A Johnson (Dec), etc. lighting up the scoreboards. The Dugongs' LBs
are also to blame for the team's bad start. None of them rank in the top
15 at the position.
The high-powered Spitoons finished last for the
first time since week #14 of 2005. The Spitoons were the only team not to
finish last in 2006. Surprinsingly, the team who now has the longest
streak of avoiding last place is the Dugongs, the team who finished last in 2006
and who is also last so far in 2007. The Dugongs' streak is now 11 weeks
but it is not expected to last for very long. The Spitoons' score of 134.5
pts was the highest ever by a last place team since defensive players were
introduced in 2004. Even if we exclude the addition of college players
this year, 134.5 pts is still the highest last place score (127.5 pts excluding
Chase Holbrook). This beats the previous record of 123.5 pts from the same
Spitoons in week #10 of 2004. This last place might be explained by the
fact that the GM/coach of the team spent all weekend gambling in Vegas.
The Spi coach won a few thousands three days in a row before seeing his balance
going down slightly on Sunday. Still, this weekend in Vegas resulted in
about $5k in winnings for Spi (Monday gain/loss unknown at this time)
. The Spi coach was behaving like a
high roller by gambling $300-$500 per hand at the Pai Gow poker tables, getting
free drinks & free dinners from casinos, riding in stretch limos, reaching
platinum status and getting a bunch of perks. As the saying says, what
happens in Vegas stays in Vegas so some other activities by the Spi coach will
remain in Vegas and will not be published here.
That was all good but the Spitoons
team lacked direction and did not have high scorers this week. TE Winslow
Jr was the team's best with 18 pts. Zach Thomas was ok with 13 pts but the
other LB AJ Hawk only scored 4 pts. Kitna started at QB but was knocked
out in the first half before coming back late in the 4th qtr to lead the team to
an OT win. Unfortunately Kitna missed a lot of playing time which
prevented him for getting a high score.
Note: sometimes the NFL announces stats changes and according to PQBFL rules, the results are not totally official until Sunday 1pm Eastern.
