2006 Week #16
4th Place Decepticons 116.5 pts
7th Place FlyingElvis 96.5 pts
8th Place BeaudoinBrothers 87.5 pts
In a stunning turn of events, the Spitoons crushed
the BeaudoinBrothers by 7 rank-points to overcome a 4 rank-point deficit and
turn it into a 3 rank-point lead in the standings .
Not even in the Spitoons' wildest dreams did they hope to achieve such a
turnaround. The Spitoons are now big favorites to win the league with only
one week left. All they have to do is avoid getting beat by three ranks by
the BBs, something that happened only twice in 16 weeks this year. If the
Spitoons finish 3rd or better, they are the new PQBFL champs. This week,
the Spitoons got unexpected help from one of their weakest starters when Derrick
Brooks scored a TD on an INT return. M Harrison was the team top scorer
with 25.5 pts as he helped the Spitoons to their third win of the season after
being benched last week. S Alexander had his best game of the season by
far with 23.5 pts, his second best being 16.5 pts in week #12. C Palmer
threw two TDs but not to Chad Johnson, which was very important not only for the
Spitoons to win, but for the BBs to finish last. Palmer overthrew a
wide-open CJ for what would have been an 80-yd TD and again it was the right
thing to do for Palmer because the Spitoons did not need those extra points to
finish first.
The Dugongs did it! The finished out of the
bottom three for the first time since week #1 so they ended their record drought
at 14 straight weeks. To celebrate this event, the Dugongs partied all
night after the week #16 games . Frank
Gore is putting the finishing touches on a great season as he added two more TDs
this week and 17 pts. It looks like he will finish 5th best RB in the
PQBFL and might very well be the next Dugongs' franchise player because he's the
only one who performed this year for the Dugongs. The Dugongs coach has
not quit all year despite having a horrible team and he was very alert on
Saturday and quickly benched A Brooks after finding out he would not play, and
sending D Carr as the starting QB instead. Carr is crap, but he scored a
respectable 11 pts this week. Rookie Mike Bell is very up and down, but
this week and started and scored 11 pts. The Dugongs should have kept
Wimbley in the starting lineup because he scored 17 pts and would have given the
Dugongs the win over the Spitoons. The Dugongs will finish last in the
standings, but fortunately they are having an improved season end which gives
the team some hope about not sucking too bad next year. Only two teams
have more rank-points in the last three weeks than the Dugongs: the Decepticons
and the Spitoons.
OldNo7 finished third and beat UJ by three
rank-points to take over 5th place in the standings and now hold a 1 rank-point
lead and the tie-breaker over UJ, so Old must avoid losing by 2 rank-points in
week #17 to finish 5th. Franchise player S Jackson exploded for 34 pts
this week to move up to 2nd best RB in the PQBFL tied with ass hole Larry
Johnson. Nobody expected S Jackson to do this well this season
. Rookie R Bush had a rare good game
rushing with 126 yds and a TD on the ground. QB McNair recovered quickly
from his hand injury to throw 3 TD passes against the shitty Steelers - on the
road. OldNo7 would have done better if not for the continued struggle of
the team's WRs with Holt and A Johnson scoring 6.5 and 6 pts. Holt and
Johnson used to be at the top of the WR rankings but now they are 9th and 10th.
RB MB3 can have big games when his team has the lead, but he can be useless when
his team is down like this week. He finished the game with only 3 yards
and nothing else for a total of zero point.
The Decepticons had a below-average week with
116.5 pts but benefited from others' problems to finish 4th and most importantly
beat FE by three rank-points. The 'Cons now lead FE by 2.5 rank-points and
unless FE rebounds, the Decepticons will finish the season in third place.
Not bad for an expansion team that traded their franchise player early in the
season and who also made another trade (C Taylor) to improve their 2007 draft
picks . The Eagles defense was the top
scorer for Dec this week with 16 pts in a crucial game against the Cowgirls.
TE Cooley also had a nice game with 15.5 pts. He has had a decent year as
the 7th best TE in the league. The Decepticons made the mistake of
benching V Young this week who scored 32 pts compared to Cutler's 14.5 pts.
Fortunately it did not cost a rank because Old finished too far ahead, and 14.5
pts from a rookie is still pretty good anyway and was enough to beat Wax.
V Young took over the lead in the rookie standings which is a big accomplishment
since he did not become the starter until week #4.
WaxOnWaxOff had a so-so week with a 5th place and
beat UJ by one rank-point to keep hopes alive of not finishing in 7th place.
But Wax trails UJ by 5.5 rank-points so it will be very difficult to finish 6th.
Eli Manning threw a 55-yd TD bomb to P Burress early in the game, which was
great news for Wax, but Burress did not catch another pass and Manning sucked
the rest of the game, finishing with only 74 yds passing - just 19 yds more than
the TD pass . What the fuck was that?
Manning was supposed to have a great year, was drafted very early (5th round),
but has greatly disappointed this year - he's the 11th best QB. Burress
can make big plays, but he rarely has games with 6-7 receptions. He's only
13th best WR. Tiki Barber had another bad week with only 6.5 pts. He
has been a horrible acquisition for Wax this year, not only mortgaging 2007, but
Tiki's average this season is 11.3, barely better than McAllister at 10.7.
Wax does not really have a 2nd startable WR after Burress and Re Brown got 4 pts
this week. S Merriman was Wax's top player this week with 17 pts.
Merriman was on Wax's bench for most of the year and was also suspended for 4
games, but he's been starting recently and he's the league's 3rd best LB.
A Winfield also had a big game with 16 pts when he defended 4 passes in addition
to 8 tackles, 1 assist, and 1 fumble recovery.
UncleJack slipped to 6th place this week and in
the standings with 105.5 pts this week. W Parker went nowhere against the
Ravens and he fumbled the ball to finish the game with zero point. The
Colts D was awful, awful, awful against the TEXANS. They allowed 27 pts
and could not get the Texans' offense off the field all day. They did not
get a sack or turnover. Horrible defense. Chances are they won't get
very far in the playoffs because the AFC is packed with good teams.
Franchise player P Manning did well with the rare opportunities he had on the
field with 23.5 pts. Replacement player L Betts scored 20.5 pts this week.
It's actually been a very good news for UJ when L Jordan was injured for the
year because Betts has scored more points in 5 weeks with UJ (78 pts) than
Jordan scored until he was injured in week #11 (50 pts). It is pretty
embarrassing when it's good news that your 1st round pick gets injured
. UJ's WRs were disappointing again with 7
pts from Boldin and 6 pts from Muhammad. Rookie Dem Williams scored a TD
for the second straight week. Williams has done a decent job since Norwood
was benched for UJ.
FlyingElvis continues to suck with a 7th place
this week and failed to reach 100 pts for the second straight week. The FE
coach picked the wrong QB again, with Favre scoring only 3.5 pts while Brady and
Rivers scored 17.5 pts and 18.5 pts on the bench. The coach also started
an injured RB which they have not used all year - Cedric Houston
. Nice try to be creative! WR Steve
Smith has been hurt by the absense of Delhomme. Weinke either throws a lot
of passes to other Panthers' WRs like in week #14 (61 pass attempts), or he does
not throw at all like in week #16 (7 pass attempts). Either way, Smith's
stats have not been good. He only has 10 catches for 123 yds and no TD in
three weeks with Weinke. Aside from ass hole L Johnson who scored 16 pts,
Donnie Edwards was FE's best player with 13 pts. After a slow start, he
has done very well and he's now the league's 5th best LB. Driver had a
busy game with 9 receptions for 99 yds, but was not able to find the end zone to
score. The Jets D had a rare start instead of the Jaguars D and had a
decent game against the Dolphins to improve their chances of making the playoffs
as a wildcard.
The BeaudoinBrothers' streak of not finishing last
is over. After 64 straight weeks, the roof fell on the BB head at the
worst possible time, quite possibly fumbling the PQBFL title with only 2 weeks
left. This season has been marked by coaching mistakes, and it only makes
sense that the BBs lose the title with another crucial mistake in week #16 by
benching M Bulger (41.5 pts) and starting Vick who was bothered by a groin
injury (0 pt) . The BBs would probably
still be favorites to win the league if they had not done this, but instead they
only have a remote chance of winning. Everything went wrong for the BBs.
LT did not score a TD for the first time in ages, CJ had his first fumble
forever and only caught 3 passes, Gates only caught 2 passes, the Bears D was
bad since they have nothing to play for anymore, the BBs benched their top
scoring LB for the nth time (Tatupu 15 pts on the bench), the BBs started the
wrong DB, etc. etc. The BeaudoinBrothers flushed down the toilet a great
team with continued coaching mistakes with a coaching efficiency of 58.3% this
week, to go down to 78.3% on the season, compared to the Spitoons league-leading
87.5%. It's the only explanation for the BBs not being first because their
strength of starters is much better than the Spitoons (159.3 to 148.3).
Well, another reason is other PQBFL teams not helping the BBs all year, when the
BBs kept beating Spi by only one rank-point, now it's pretty obvious that it
could be the difference-maker. If 2 teams don't help the BBs in week #17,
the Spitoons will be champions. It could be the 3rd time in 5 years that
the BBs finish the season with the most total points but don't win the league
(2002, 2003, 2006).
Note: sometimes the NFL announces stats changes and according to PQBFL rules, the results are not totally official until Sunday 1pm Eastern.
