Week
#15
Weekly Summary provided by FlyingElvis - thank you!
With two weeks to go in the regular season the Beaudoin Bros have a
4-point lead over OldNo7, who are trying to get back into the
champion’s circle for the 2nd time in 3 seasons after a tremendous
drought, and a 6-point lead over the Glorious Bastards. Rounding out
the top 4 within 8 points is Professor MJ who maintains an outside
shot at winning, especially given the way this season has gone with
so many first to worst weeks. This week was another such situation
with the Admirals, thinking they were making a move, dropping to
last place after winning the week before. Another big question is,
can the Ballers win one of the next two weeks to make the
unprecedented (I believe) situation of all 9 teams winning at least
one week in the same season. Ya never know!
Flying Elvis, though in 5th place now overall, has NOT left the
building, winning the week on strong offensive play from QB,
RB and TE. Additionally on the IDP side Jeffery Simmons has really
stepped up recently moving to DL #4 overall. Hurts had a good week
following up his disastrous -4.75pts last week but has been average
for the most part this year as QB#7, while RBs Jacobs and Etienne
have performed nicely as RBs 7+8. The biggest bust position for
Elvis has been Rookie, Jeanty has hugely disappointed as a franchise
player and Golden didn’t show up this year either. This week Elvis
started Seattle after being scolded last week for not, and of course
this backfired with the Ravens killing it while Seattle only got 10
pts.
OldNo7 came in 2nd with a nice comeback from a couple of bad weeks.
Caleb has been relatively consistent and CMac has somewhat quietly
been RB#3; this may be because he is on the west coast and we east
coasters don’t always see what those guys are doing. Old has
outstanding WRs Jax and Amon Ra, and they put up 44.5 led by Amon.
Rookie Treveyon Henderson had a huge game with 148 rushing and two
long TD runs. Interestingly, Old has almost no outstanding IDP
players with only Tremaine Edmunds in the top 10 of any such
positions.
3rd place went to the league leading Beaudoin Bros who could have
won the week outright had they started the suddenly juggernaut Jax
Jags team’s QB Trevor Lawrence. Monster game with 6 TDs and a total
of 53 points which could be close to an individual record in this
league. Stafford got the start and produced well but BB could have
more or less secured the league with 2 additional rank points. Solid
receiving gave BB another 34.5 and LBs Quay Walker and Roquan Smith
added 24. Rookie JJ McCarthy, ranked #2 overall at the position, had
23.75 pts. It should be noted the 2nd overall ranking at rookie does
not take into account that he has missed 6 games. The individual
leaders category should probably be revisited it can be misleading
as it only counts games the players have played in.
The Glorious Bastards came in 4th and if they had started Bo Nix
over Brock Purdy could have jumped two spots in the standings to 2nd
but that is a tough call. GB came in dead last in week 14 severely
hurting their chances at the championship which they were very well
in the hunt for. GB has had to rely on a rookie promoted to RB and
this week it did not work out well, with Quinshon only getting 1.5
pts. Bijan had his usual good effort with 16.5 and WR Jamarr had the
same result, but it was the huge output from McBride in AZ with 30.5
that helped propel this team to the 4th place finish. Cam Ward also
had a decent game for the lowly Titans, with 17.5 and 2 TDs.
The Ballers have shown some signs of life in the last two weeks
after a really long season, finishing 5th this week. From weeks 3-13
this team had only one top 5 finish which really hurts, but it seems
things might be turning a bit for them. The Ballers are the only
team to not make the winner’s circle this year how much fun would it
be if they did that over the next two weeks to completely upset the
apple cart? Ballers have a bevy of QB options with Lamar, Goff,
Rodgers and even Darnold. Also at the RB position, while thin, Cook
is a nice option at RB#5 and Swift can put a game together. The two
combined for 47.5pts this week which is a nice result. At WR Puca
(WR#1) and Brian Thomas Jr (who has disappointed this year) are nice
options. Jordyn Brooks is LB#1 while playing 14 games so is a great
player at that position for them, but the rest of the team has been
more-or-less milk toast. Let’s see what this team does over the next
two weeks they could cause some disruption.
The Professor finished in 6th, slipping from its prior two weeks
results which included a win in week 13. Starting Dak didn’t help
but it’s understandable since he is QB6, but in recent times CJ
Stroud and the Texans have been looking very good. Prof would have
had 17 pts more had he started CJ, but really after that it’s hard
to find where the coach could have done a lot more. A Tony Pollard
start seems unlikely instead of Breece, who only got 3.5 this
week, and the WR starts were as good as could be with CeeDee only
pulling in 11.5 but Jameson Willliams with 20.5 and a TD. Rookie
Tyler Shough had a good game with 18 pts and K Fairbairn had a good
game with 14 for the resurgent Texans. Professor is in the hunt and
needs a better week this week and next to try to contend for the
championship.
Defending champion Wax On Wax Off had a 7th place finish and is
having a disappointing season, in 8th place overall out of 9.
Wax expected bigger things out of Saquon and JuJefferson this year,
both have been what I would call disappointments. Amazingly, JJ is
WR#30, who would have ever thought that could be the case? And
Saquon is RB#13. Most would think these two would be top 5 at worst,
but not so! Kittle had a good week and is TE#3 and rookie Jaxson
Dart (rookie #1!) has been a nice surprise for this team with
another good week this week. A review of the rest of this team with
respect to leaders by position has Drake Maye near the top at QB3
and Kittle, as well as Broncos DST and then a few in top 10 but
overall disappointing for Wax.
8th went to Decepticons who could have actually had a good week this
week had they started Kyle Pitts who had a career week with 35.25
pts. The 33 pts difference would have given the team 33 additional
points and 2 rank points. Decept has been having a rough go recently
with 4 bottom 3 finishes in the last 5 weeks. Jonathan Taylor who is
RB#1 was white hot, like the Colts, at the beginning of the season
but they have hit a wall. WRs DeVonta Smith and Rashee Rice are on
two teams that have severely underperformed this year though Eagles
should still get in. Eagles D provided Decept 20 pts this week with
an INT and great overall D.
And the latest first to last victim was the Admirals, who had high
hopes entering the week but it was not to be. Josh Allen is stepping
up as he should, and is QB#1, but this week Jahmyr and Rachaad White
did nothing, with 8.25pts combined. Receivers AJ Brown and Jakobi
Myers had 19.5 combined (also disappointing) and TE Henry had a
horrible 1.75. There were no real bright spots this week for this
team aside from Allen, and they are now in 6rth place overall after
thinking they might make a run into the top 4. Tough situation as
they are 5 rank points out of that 4th spot and Elvis is between, so
they need a quick turnaround to get into the top 4 .
