Week
#14
FlyingElvis won for the first time of the season thanks to a silly
6-TD zero turnover game from Josh Allen for a total of 56 pts which
was not even enough for the Bills to win. FE crushed all other
teams in the PQBFL by almost 40 pts because it was not only Allen
who exploded. Zach Charbonnet took full advantage of K Walker
(Ball) missing the game to injury and scored two TDs of his own for
29 pts which was the best game of his career so far. It will
be interesting to see what his role is later this season and even
next year once Walker is healthy. Also Josh Jacobs scored 3
TDs in a Packers loss which was hard to swallow as time expired in
Detroit.
WaxOnWaxOff edged Bas by 1 point to take sole possession of first
place in the standings, up 2 rank-points in front of Bas and
Beaud. The fact that Wax could achieve such success despite
not having an active DL and also college QB C Beck getting injured
during the game and had a negative score was music to Wax’s
ears. The leader of the team was Ju Jefferson who dismantled
the Falcons defense with 27.5 pts and he was not even the best
Vikings WR on the day, being outscored by Jo Addison (Prof).
Regular rookie starter Maye was on bye but so were Nix (Bas) and J
Daniels (Beaud) so all top three teams in the PQBFL had to play
their backup rookie. Wax started T Tracy who was by far the
most effective of the backup rookies, scoring a short TD and 11.75
pts. On defense it's worth noting B Baker’s performance this
week of 19 pts entirely via tackles and assists. He took over
as the best DB in the league.
The GloriousBastards were headed to a middling result this week
until franchise player J Chase did what he’s supposed to do: carry
Bas’ team on his shoulders. He dominated the Cowboys defense
with 14 receptions, almost 200 yards from scrimmage, 2 TDs including
the game winning one late in the game. But he was not the full
focus on the Bengals’ offense because even RB C Brown scored for a
total of 16.25 pts. Brown started the season slow when he was
sharing duties with Zack Moss (Ball) and he was averaging 7.7 pts
per game after 8 weeks. Since Moss’ injury, C Brown has
averaged 13.8 pts per game which puts him firmly in the top 5 in the
league so it’s been a boon for Bas. Bas could have beat Wax
this week if not for the rookie position where Ray Davis scored a
goose egg while Jalen McMillan scored 20.75 pts on the bench, which
was double pain for Bas because starter WR Mike Evans was left in
the shadow of McMillan and only scored 7.25 pts.
The Ballers had their highest season finish of the season in 4th
place which had an impact at the top of the standings because Ball
beat Beaud but not Wax and Bas. Ball’s positive result was
surprising because Ball was without their best RB Walker and forced
Singletary in the starting lineup who only scored 0.5 pt as no other
healthy RB was available with J Williams and A Gibson both on
bye. Ball was able to finish in the top half of the standings
mostly due to WR Nacua who scored 31.75 pts while the Rams’ other WR
Kupp (Beaud) scored about half of Nacua’s score. Nacua’s
season has been affected by injuries but he’s clearly healthy now
and climbed to WR5 in the PQBFL, making him a good candidate for
potential franchise player in 2025. Ball also received unusual
production from rookie Rome who has otherwise been a disappointment
like the rest of the Bears. This week Rome scored 17 pts to
move up to ROO14 in the league.
OldNo7 finished in 5th place for the second straight week but
because of the recent surge by FlyingElvis, Old has been caught from
behind in the standings and is now tied with FE at 68 rank-points
for the season with FE holding the tie-breaker by a small
margin. Before MNF Old was stuck in a tight battle with Dec
and Beaud and Burrow delivered with 26.75 pts to beat both Dec-Beaud
and Old emerged on top of the tight pack in 5th-6th-7th. RB
Kyren Williams returned to the starting lineup now that McCaffrey is
out for the year due to injury, showing that CMC can be expendable
with Williams scoring 18 pts this week. WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba
made a rare start for Old and rewarded the coach with 16.75
pts. His time under the sun has arrived – he’s WR15 in the
league, in front of Seahawks teammate DK Metcalf (Wax) who only
ranks WR25.
The Decepticons had three players on MNF Dowdle Elliott and
Hendrickson and all three had a middling result, scoring roughly
what their weekly projection was so it was not surprising that Dec
ended up between Old and Beaud. Dec had many holes in the lineup
this week which held them back, but unlike Wax-Bas-Beaud, they had
their starting rookie QB Caleb active and he scored 14.5 pts.
The problems were elsewhere though. The reason both Dowdle and
Elliott had to start was because B Hall was injured on the worst
possible week when both J Taylor and Mixon were on bye. Also
Jayden Reed has a stunning zero score in part because J Love only
completed 12 passes in the game, making it a double whammy because
Dec started Love (14.5 pts) and left Tua Tago on the bench (24.25
pts).
The BeaudoinBrothers were fearing week #14 and the fears turned out
to be warranted. Five of Beaud’s regular starters were on bye:
J Daniels, D Henry, Dugger, Roquan Smith, and Buckner. To make
matters worse Logan Wilson missed the game to injury which left the
Bros with the bare minimum of 4 healthy defensive players (only 1
LB) and backups Josh Sweat + J Holland did nothing to change their
backup status with only 3 pts each as starters this week. The
Bills defense started because the Colts were on bye but the Bills
were pulverized by the Rams and ended with a disastrous -3.5 pts
which included allowing a blocked punt returned for a TD. The
Bros could have salvaged an average outcome on MNF but Tee Higgins
had a paltry 2 receptions for 23 yds while watching the Beaud’s main
competition Bas get all the scoring in that Bengals’ game. As
mentioned above the rookie position was critical this week with so
many rookie QBs on bye. The Bros have a better backup rookie
than Wax and especially Bas, but Bucky Irving got injured early in
the game and exited with only 1.5 pt which affected Beaud
negatively.
ProfMJ finished in the red for the 4th straight week and for the 5th
time in 6 weeks. Prof is now 9 rank-points behind Old/FE in
the standings so they will most likely finish the season in 7th
place. RB James Cook has had a nice season (RB8) but this week
the Bills completely abandoned him and rode the Josh Allen train all
game long. The Bills scored 42 pts but Cook only had 20
rushing yards and 9 receiving yards. CD Lamb was Prof’s top
performer this week with 17.5 pts on MNF so he proved he can still
produce despite having lost Prescott, but it was too little too late
for Prof who was too far behind Dec-Old-Beaud as of Sunday
night.
The Admirals finished dead last for the 4th time this season.
With an eye on the future for who could be Adm franchise player in
2025, RB J Gibbs is almost a foregone conclusion. He scored 11
pts this week despite the fact that Montgomery (Beaud) continues to
steal carries and even outscores Gibbs at times, including this
week. The Lions offense is simply good enough to produce a top
RB like Gibbs who ranks RB4 without even needing Montgomery to
injure himself for Gibbs to get the lions’ share of the load.
For the second franchise spot the situation is more
questionable. AJ Brown was franchised this year but the Eagles
have not been flying high. This week against the weak
Panthers, Brown only scored 6 pts with Hurts only completing 14
passes for a lowly 108 yards. At WR17 for the season, Brown is
not worth a franchise player spot. The better answer would be
Nico Collins (WR4 in the PQBFL) but he was on bye this week which
held Adm back.
