The
GloriousBastards finished 2018 on a high note with their third win of
the season. From week #5 to #17 GB was the best team in the PQBFL
by far with 81 rank points, ahead of Wax with 73 rank-points and Dec
with 72 rank-points. However weeks #1-4 were so bad that it
proved too much to overcome. Bas finishes in third place as
expected because the team did not have much of a chance to catch up Wax
in 2nd in the final week. Brady was the leader with 30.25 pts and
his 2019 value will be a question mark due to an up and down
season. Bas started injured D Adams in the final week and due to
harsh week #17 rules will lose their 9th round pick in 2019.
WaxOnWaxOff was unable to accomplish a miracle in week #17 and finished
only 0.75 pt ahead of Dec while needing to finish first and Dec last so
it was not meant to happen. Wax nonetheless finishes the season
2nd which is a good finish. Wax was affected by A Rodgers’
concussion early in the game and he only scored 0.75 pts but Bas
finished so far ahead in first that it most likely would not have
mattered and Wax was going to finish this week 2nd anyway.
Similar to Brady, A Rodgers’ value in 2019 is questionable due to a
disappointing season where he finished QB8 and ended up on Wax’s bench
more often than expected because Roeth (QB3) was performing
better. Roeth has been talking about retirement so his value is
shaky as well.
The Decepticons did enough to secure the PQBFL championship with 131.5
pts and third place. Kamara was rested by the Saints, McCaffrey
was ardly used by the Panthers (3.25 pts) so Dec started backups M Mack
and J Williams for a rare time. Mack produced with 11.75 with the
Colts’ season on the line but Williams did not like the rest of the
Packers offense which was blanked 31-0 at home in an embarrassing
loss. Mahomes was the top scorer for Dec with 22.25 pts although
it was less than his regular output. L Jackson was also a key
contributor with 21.25 pts as he propelled the Ravens in the playoffs
with an important home win against the Browns. Congratulations to
the Decepticons for a dominating 2018 season and the franchise’s 4th
PQBFL crown!
The BeaudoinBrothers finished the season in the middle of the pack in
fourth place and by beating Adm, Beaud also finishes fourth in the
standings in front of Adm to ensure they are in the top half of the
PQBFL standings for the 22nd straight year, in each season of the PQBFL
history. This was not an easy achievement because the team
trailed and struggled for most of the year but there were enough
players who stood up late in the year to salvage some
respectability. The main one was rookie Josh Allen who started
the season on the bench, then took over as the Bills QB but was largely
ineffective until getting injured in week #6 with a 8.3 pt per game
average. He came back to health in week #12 and he was not the
same player after that, averaging 22.8 pts per game in the final 6
weeks, with week #17 being the best game of the lot with an impressive
42 pts. His 2019 value will be interesting to watch because his
performance late in 2018 would put him QB2 if it was over a full 16
week season rather than only 6 weeks. The Bros finished first in
injury points and would have finished first even without the trade of
injured H Henry and K Alexander, so they will have the benefit of
drafting first in 2019.
OldNo7 finished fifth this week and beat the Ballers by two rank-points
but Old needed to beat Ball by three rank-points to finish the season
in 6th place which they failed to achieve, so Old finishes a lowly 7th
overall. Matt Ryan was one of the few bright spots for Old this
season and with 26.5 pts in week #17 he finishes as the second best QB
in the PQBFL behind Mahomes (Dec). The other big producer this
week was the Chiefs defense which feasted on the Raiders with 24 pts
including a TD, 4 turnovers and held the Raiders to only a field
goal. The Chiefs only scored 97.5 pts all year so that means they
scored almost a quarter of their points all in week #17. The
OldNo7 offense was quite bad other than M Ryan: M Gordon, D Cook, D
Baldwin, A Thielen, and S Michel all scored between 3.25 pts and 5.5
pts which is awful. Kelce’s 8 pts was not very good but he beat
Ertz (Beaud) by 0.4 pt per game to end up as the TE king for 2018.
FlyingElvis capped a shitty 2018 with 6th place which is better than
most weeks. FE ends up with 44 rank-points compared to 65 for
OldNo7, a huge gap between last and next-to-last. Ty Hill was the
top scorer for FE this week with 25.75 pts and he finishes WR3 in the
PQBFL. If it was not for this very favorable trade of loser
rookie Royce Freeman in return for a top quality WR, one can only
imagine how bad FE would have been this season. At least Hill
will score some points in the NFL playoffs to improve FE’s status for
the third round of the 2019 draft. FE ends up second in injury
points on top of L Bell not earning injury points so FE will draft in
second place.
The Ballers beat Adm this week to avoid last place and this means they
could hold off OldNo7 in sixth place in the standings, a very
satisfying result for an expansion team. D Henry did not do as
much as in recent weeks with only 8.75 pts and he could not extend the
Titans’ season who got eliminated in week #17 by the Colts. His
end of season success might increase his 2019 value and he might be cut
from the Ballers before the next draft. Ju Jones had the highest
score on the Ballers’ team with 21.75 pts and he ends the year WR6,
right behind ODB at WR5. Those two will most likely be cut.
At the rookie position the Ballers started the wrong LB with only 6 pts
from R Smith with 21 pts on the bench from T Edmunds. If we
compare those two guys to veteran LBs, their 2018 average of 10.9 pts
(Edmunds) and 9.7 pts (R Smith) would place them LB4 and LB11
(considering that rookie Leonard from Wax would be LB1). Both
those rookie LBs will have solid value in 2019.
The Admirals completed their spectacular slide with a fourth last place
in the last six weeks. After 9 weeks, Adm was first with a 5
rank-point lead over Dec and had scored almost 70 total points more
than Dec so they were crushing them by almost 8 points per week on
average. Then in the subsequent 8 weeks Adm only earned 18
rank-points, equal to FE which is a jaw-dropping change of
direction. The Admirals failed to reach 100 points for the second
straight week with 99.75 pts this week, in part due to being forced to
start QB D Carr with Newton and A Smith both injured. Carr scored
-4 points thanks to no TD and 3 turnovers. He ends the year at
QB22 and with a lack of WR weapons he is unlikely to return in the
PQBFL in 2019. Adm also only got 0.5 pt from the Vikings who
crashed out of 2018 with a bad home game against the Bears and got
eliminated.
