Week #12

After a hot 4-week stretch, we could have expected the Decepticons to slow down, but instead they beat the previous season-high by any team by a whopping 50+ pts to end the week with a jaw-dropping 223.5 pts.  It was raining TDs left and right all week long, starting on Turkey Day with P Rivers destroying the Cowboys with 3 TDs and over 400 passing yards.  On the same day, TE Rudolph scored 2 TDs on his own and JPP got two sacks.  Right then we all knew this week belonged to Dec, but we just did not know how much yet.  Ju Jones had a stunning 40+ pt day thanks to two long TDs, 12 receptions, and more than 250 receiving yards.  D Murray sucked again with only 9 rushing yards, but he scored a TD again to finish the game with a decent PQBFL score.  Rookie A Kamara is suddenly unstoppable and he added two more TDs and he almost got 100 rushing yards to go along with 100 receiving yards.

WaxOnWaxOff had a strong week with 169 pts and took sole possession of first place in the standings.  They need to pay attention to the hard charging 'Cons behind however, now 4 rank-points away.  Wax was up by 13 rank-points over Dec after week #7 and the lead has now shrunk to 4 rank-points.  In addition, with Dec's explosion this week, Wax is unlikely to hold the tie-breaker over Dec.  A Brown got a second straight 30+ game with 2 TDs, 10 receptions for 169 yards in addition to a 2-point conversion.  Gronk also got a productive game with 2 TDs as well.  On defense, E Griffen had a solid week with 16 pts.  He has surprisingly emerged as a top notch DL this year.  LBs also got the job done with 10.5 pts from Zach Brown and even more important 12 pts from Mosley who was needed on MNF otherwise Beaud might have edged Wax if Mosley had a sub-par game.  While it did not matter in the end because Wax finished so far behind Dec, we should note that Fournette's struggles continued with only 3.5 pts this week.  He scored double digits in weeks #1-6 but has not done so since then.

The BeaudoinBrothers got beat by both Dec and Wax, but had a good week with 165.75 pts to remain in the hunt and refuse to give up.  The pesky Bros had the lowest projection of all teams for week #12 and were expecting a disaster with what continues to be a weak starting lineup.  The Bros did not have a starting college player because Darnold was on bye and Josh Allen was injured.  Yet Beaud completely outscored their weekly projection and were only one bad starting decision away from beating Wax and taking sole possession of first place.  Ajayi started but he won't get anywhere if he's getting only 5 carries per game.  Ajayi finished the game with 1.75 pt and on the bench A Peterson scored 9.25 pts against the tough Jaguars which was the difference between second and third place.  Also, Ertz was benched because he did not appear 100% last week, but he scored 21 pts from the bench compared to J Graham 9.5 pts.  The Bros got a good week particularly due to defense where both Kuechly and Reshad Jones scored a TD.

The GloriousBastards got their best week since week #4 with 157 pts but unfortunately this week was the highest scoring of the season so normally 157 pts would be good for second place and sometimes even first place, but this week it was only a middling outcome of 4th.  That was achieved with only 1 healthy RB, without a kicker, and with LB Bucannon only scoring 1 pt due to an in-game injury.  Rookie Mixon's previous best week was 10.25 pts and he easily topped that with his first dominant game of the year, ending with 19.75 pts.  He currently ranks 12th best rookie and far more was expected of him, but at least if he can keep this up, he could be promising for the 2018 season.  In that same game, Dalton was adequate with 19 pts but the main contributors this week were receivers.  B Cooks scored 15.5 pts, TE H Henry scored 13.75 pts, and WR Davante Adams was the best of the group with 17 pts.  It appears as if the change from A Rodgers to Hundley has not affected Adams as much as other receivers for the Packers.

FlyingElvis could not follow up the win in week #11 and fell flat with a disappointing 119.5 pts and it could have been worse because Adm finished not far behind in 6th place.  That means FE dropped to 5th place in the standings but remains a manageable 6 rank-points from first place so there is still time to crawl back in the race.  Defense was not as dominant as usual for FE this week.  The Jaguars were surprisingly shaky against the Cards offense and allowed 27 pts and 344 yards.  The only thing that bailed them out was a defensive TD once again so they ended the game with 7.5 pts otherwise they would have been close to zero.  B Church scored an impressive 14 pts in that game, but Telvin Smith was limited to 7 pts.  T Smith dropped to 5th best LB in the PQBFL with this mediocre game.  Joey Bosa was lackluster as well, ending with 4 pts and dropping from 1st to 4th best DL in the league.  On offense, FE was fine but nothing special.  Cousins scored 17.25 pts which is ok but not great, L Bell got 183 yards from scrimmage which is nice, but he did not score a TD and lost a fumble.  RB Jordan Howard was the dud of the week with only 7 rushes for 6 yards.

The Admirals finished in the bottom three for the 5th straight week and for the 8th time in 9 weeks with only 117.5 pts.  Adm is now entrenched in 6th place, lagging 7 rank-points behind FE in the standings in 5th place so Adm is likely to end the season in 6th place.  The Admirals quick start proved to be only a mirage, particularly Kareem Hunt who has been trending down in a hurry.  Hunt scored 80.75 pts in the first three weeks and only 58 pts in the subsequent 8 games, this week being the worst with only 2 pts.  An average of 7.25 pts per game during that stretch is not even starting rookie material in the PQBFL, and even below average backup because for the entire season 7.25 pts would rank 13th best rookie.  Tyreek Hill and the rest of the Chiefs have slowed down as well.  This week Hill caught 7 passes but all of them were short and he did not score.  E Sanders does not have a viable QB but Adm keeps starting him with bad results: 3.5 pts this week.  TE Olsen came back from injury at the right time because M Bennett is now on IR, but it did not matter because Olsen only scored 1.5 pt.

OldNo7 was the only team with FE who had not visited last place this season, but with only 108 pts, Old finished last and quickly fell back in the race to 6 rank-points from first place and greatly damaged their odds of winning the league.  Wentz has the highest total points scored in the entire PQBFL with 264.25 pts, and he continued this week with 26.75 pts in a dismantling of the Bears.  However the rest of the Old offense was shit toilet.  M Gordon only scored 7.25 pts, McCoy only 6.5 pts, receivers were even worse with 6.25 pts from A Cooper, 3 pts for Baldwin, and 4.75 pts from Kelce.  Kicker McManus only kicked two extra points and rookie Engram was bottled up again with 3.75 pts.  Defense was not as bad, but nothing to write home about.  T Mathieu was the best with 12 pts, but others did not dazzle with 9 pts from Ju Houston, 6 pts from Fletcher Cox, and 5 pts from Kirksey.
