WaxOnWaxOff
won for the first time since week #3 last year so it's been more than
a one year drought. The win allowed Wax to climb to 3rd place
overall, and is second in total points scored so very much in the
mix. Wax finally started the right QB, with R Wilson securing the
win on SNF thanks to 33.75 pts against the lowly Colts. Wax got a
scare early in the game however, because Wilson did not have much to show for in the first
half; almost all his scoring was in the second half. Wax also
benefited from a fluke 75 yd TD by B Powell when the opposing defense
thought he was down. That made up for a subpar game by A Brown
with only 5.5 pts and Gronk who could have done better than 8
pts. On defense, Wax was adequate with 9.5 pts from the Chiefs to close the week
on MNF, 11 pts from DL Griffen, and 15 pts from Mosley. Rookie
Fournette also contributed 18 pts this week. While he might not
be as flashy as K Hunt, he has scored double digits every week so far
so very stable and he ranks 3rd best rookie in the PQBFL in the shadow
of Hunt (Adm) and Watson (Beaud).
After a slow start in weeks 1-2, the BeaudoinBrothers finished 2nd for
the second straight week, and now sit in 2nd place in the
standings. They scored a season-high 166 pts with a stellar game
from D Watson against the Titans. Watson has been gradually
getting better each game, from his backup performance in week #1, to a
well managed game in Cincy in week #2, to a near win in NE in week #3,
and now a 35.25 pts explosion against TEN. Beaud also got
excellent contribution from the team strength: defense. Shazier
scored 19 pts and surprisingly sits atop all defenders with a 13.6 pts
per game average. He has made the injuries to L David and J
Collins moot. Starter Kuechly did his normal job with 12 tackles
and 2 assists. DL K Mack got 2 sacks and 4 QB hits this week
after a slow week 1-2.
The GloriousBastards scored more than 35 pts more than their previous
best week with 162.5 pts. Other than the disastrous week 1-2, Bas
finished 3rd in weeks 3-4 which is 10 rank points, as good as Adm and
more than contenders Wax, Old, and FE. For Bas to do so well
without franchise player A Luck is impressive and this week it was due
to Dalton throwing for 4 TDs against the shit Browns, and also because
E Elliott finally woke up with 2 TDs and 22.5 pts. That is almost
more than what he had scored in weeks 1-3 combined. Defense was
very solid this week for Bas with double-digit scores from all
individual defenders Flowers, Bowman, Jack, and L Collins. Total
defense would have been even better if the coach had not benched the
Texans (2nd best defense in the PQBFL) and tried to get fancy playing
matchups with the Giants playing in Tampa Bay. The Giants scored
-1 pt, a massive swing compared to the Texans' 22 pts. The Giants
rank next to last defense, only ahead of the hopeless Patriots (Dec).
FlyingElvis scored a season-high 142.5 pts but it was no better than
4th place this week. Cousins outplayed K Hunt and T Hill (Adm) on
MNF to edge Adm by only 1.25 pts. Cousins was more than adequate with 22.25
pts which was well in excess of his projection against a tough
defense. L Bell continues to trend up after a rusty start and
scored 24.5 pts this week to climb to 3rd best RB in the PQBFL.
Hopkins was the 3rd 20+ pt scorer this week for FE thanks to 10
receptions for over 100 yards and one TD. He will be a main
beneficiary of having a potent QB unlike last year. FE was
somewhat held back this week by rookie McCaffrey which is simply not
meeting expectations. Even in a game where the Panthers scored 33
pts and led most of the game and tried to control the ground game, J-Stew
is still the starting RB and gets more carries than McCaffrey.
The coach also once again started an injured LB. In week 3 it was
J Freeman, and in week 4 it was S Lee.
The Admirals had their first set back of the season with 5th place but
nonetheless kept their lead in the standings to 4 rank-points after 4
weeks which is not something to sneeze at. K Hunt failed on MNF
to beat FE and showed he is human after all. He will not score
50+ yd TDs every week. He still found a way to score 10 pts
thanks to a 100 yard rushing game along with some receptions.
Tyreek Hill is more to blame for coming up short, due to his 6.75 pt
game. Brees was fine with 21 pts, but he could have done more if the Saints did not
play conservative because their defense showed up for once and shut out
the sorry Dolphins. The main contributor was RB Gurley with 25.75
pts. So far he is the most dominant player at his position, even
more so than K Hunt. Gurley is averaging 21.1 pts per game while
the 2nd best RB is D Freeman (Bas) with 13.6 pts. We'll see if Gurley
can keep this up with his upcoming rough schedule: Sea, Jax, Ari.
OldNo7 stumbled to 6th place with only 117 pts and dropped from 2nd
place to 4th place in the standings in a close pack behind Adm.
Just when you thought Newton could not get the job done anymore, what
better to heal all wounds but the play the Pats defense? Newton
scored 35 pts. The only problem is that Old benched him in favor
of M Ryan who was held to only 4.5 pts by the surprising Bills
defense. I guess Rex Ryan has left town so the defense can do its
thing in Buffalo. But by far the worst news of the week for Old
was the season-ending injury to D Cook. He had time to score 9
pts this week before going down, and he was doing fine as the 4th best
rookie in the PQBFL. Old will be forced to rely on a rookie TE
and a rookie DB which is not a great position to be in. Old was
able to avoid last place thanks to 2 defensive TDs by the Seahawks
against the shit Luck-less Colts offense.
The Decepticons are seriously facing the prospect of a long season
after finishing last for the first time of the season, and dropping to
the cellar of the standings behind Bas. Dec's struggles actually
date back to week 12 last year. After 11 weeks the Cons were only
3 rank points behind Beaud in a close race, but only got 18 rank-points
in the last 6 weeks, the worse output in the PQBFL during this
stretch. It has continued so far in 2017. A Rodgers threw
for 4 TDs, M Thomas had 8 receptions and a TD, and Bobby Wagner scored
a defensive TD which is normally a big bonus, but even 6 TDs
was not enough to avoid last place. The Pats defense only scored
1.5 pt for Dec and even that was better than the Ravens D on the bench
with only 1 pt. JJ Watt still does not have a sack for the Texans
even though the defense is playing well (2nd best team defense -
Bas). Watt ranks 15th best DL which is a disastrous outcome for
an expensive 5th round pick. Perhaps he is not the same player as
he used to be.
