Week #16

The GloriousBastards smoked the competition and earned their first franchise win with a season-high 174.5 pts.  Bas are the hottest team in the PQBFL right now despite a slew of injuries as they now have 17 rank-points in the last three weeks which is higher than anybody else including Beaud (15) and FE (15).  WR Baldwin led the team with 29.75 mostly due to great stats 13-171 on top of a TD.  Baldwin has been a great acquisition via trade because he did not cost much in the trade with Dec (D Parker has been a disappointment and Ebron has been mostly injured).  Also acquired in that same trade was old-man A Gates who scored 17.5 pts this week.  A Luck scored 24.5 pts which was decent but not as much of a difference-maker as the 24.5 pts from M Jenkins who had 2 INTs and returned one for a TD.

FlyingElvis finished 2nd for the third time in 4 weeks and crushed Dec to take sole possession of second place in the standings.  Now up by 5 rank-points, FE can secure 2nd place for the year with a mediocre performance in week #17.  FE has also been the second highest total scoring team this season and ranks 2nd in strength of starters so by all measures this has been an excellent season for FE.  FE's crew of Dallas Cowboys did some damage on MNF in the blow-out win against the Lions.  Elliott scored 20.5 pts and will finish best rookie by the widest margin of all positions, dominating M Thomas (Beaud) 17.1 pts per game to 12.4 pts per game.  In that same game B Church did well with 7 tackles 5 assists.  Also on defense, the Patriots were dominant against the lowly Jets, allowing only 3 pts, less than 250 total yards, and causing 5 turnovers.  QB Tyrod Taylor had a rare top notch game with 33.75 pts in a loss to the Dolphins.  FE could have finished first if not for starting injured A Peterson and AJ Green.

The BeaudoinBrothers scored exactly the same number of points (149.5 pts) as their season average, and the result was an average 3rd place as well.  Some players had great games (A Rodgers 42.5 pts, D Johnson 23.25 pts, M Evans 18.75 pts, R Shazier 15 pts), offset by shitty games by the Bills D (-2 pts), L Murray (4.25 pts), D Thomas (4 pts), and Z Ertz (3.5 pts), and J Hughes (3 pts).  Note that the last four of those were acquired by trades and have not been as productive as hoped for, except for Murray.

The Admirals did not have a bad week with a score of 141.75 pts, which is almost 10 pts higher than the all-league season-long average, but only finished 4th and fell back to last place in the standings.  With only one week to go, Adm is two rank-points behind Bas and will not have the tie-breaker.  Brees did not do enough to carry Adm this week with 15.75 pts and only one TD.  D Bryant attempted a furious comeback for Adm on MNF with 3 TDs and 26.75 pts but it was not enough to beat Beaud and FE.  Ajayi had a strong game with over 200 yards rushing once again and he added a TD.  However Adm was affected by the bad game from E Sanders who only had one reception.

WaxOnWaxOff finished 5th and now has an outside chance of falling to 6th place in the standings because Wax leads Bas by 3 rank-points with one week to go.  Stafford had an awful game on MNF with only 7.5 pts with R Wilson scoring 38.5 pts on the bench.  The Steelers connection L Bell - A Brown did well with 22.25 pts and 19.75 pts and they were by far the top offensive players this week for Wax, along with rookie Shepard with 16 pts.  J Reed's absence was painful with only 3.5 pts from Fleener.  Hauschka missed a costly extra point for the Seahawks and scored zero.  The Seahawks defense was barely any better with 0.5 pt.

OldNo7 failed to capitalize on Dec's weakness and only gained one rank-point on Dec due to finishing no better than 6th.  Old is now one rank-point behind Dec and 3 total points behind, so all Old needs to do to finish the season 3rd is to beat Dec in week 17 unless it's a narrow win by less than 3 total points.  The coach can be blamed for the lack of production this week because injured Forte and Ju Houston started, leaving valuable points on the bench.  TE Kelce was the team leader this week with 27 pts thanks to a WR-worthy long TD of 80 yards.  Roethlisberger, McCoy, and ODB and good games, scoring between 18 pts and 20.25 pts each, but that was not enough to overcome the zeros from injured players.

Dec's slide continues and the team finished last for the second straight week and barely avoided scoring less than 100 pts for the second straight week.  In weeks 12-16, Dec has been by far the worst team in the PQBFL with only 12 rank-points in 5 weeks.  The second worst team was Wax with 18 rank-points.  This collapse has coincided with the bad production from rookie QBs who would have been better off staying on the bench and not tempt Dec to start them over rookie LB D Jones.  This week Goff scored 3.25 pts with D Jones scoring 14.5 pts on the bench.  Injured Lamar Miller started and scored a zero but backups were not much better anyway.  At WR, Ju Jones is still gimpy and only scored 7 pts.  Maclin got a rare start because D Parker sucks, and Maclin rewarded the coach with only 3.25 pts with Parker unusually scoring 16.25 pts.
