The
Admirals surprisingly won for the second time in four weeks so that now
makes six weeks in a row where Adm finishes either last or first.
Adm jumped back out of last place in the standings and leads Bas by one
rank-point. Adm's first place is even more surprising considering
that the coach started two injured players on defense and left 25+ pts
on the table with those mistakes. Brees and D Freeman ensured
that it did not matter with 7 TDs between them. Brees bounced
back with 36.75 pts after scoring only 1.25 pts in weeks #13+14.
Freeman had his best game of the year with 26.75 pts which was the
third time in the last four weeks where he scored at least 16.25
pts.
FlyingElvis only scored 123 pts but that was enough for second place
this week. FE benefited from Dec's complete collapse to fully
erase a 5 rank-point deficit in 3rd place and is now tied with Dec in
2nd place. FE has scored almost 40 more total points than Dec so
it is very likely that FE will have the tiebreaker at the end of the
year if FE and Dec remain tied in two weeks from now. Rookie
Elliott was the team leader this week once again with 19.5 pts on MNF
to help FE distance the competition. In that same game, the rest
of the Cowboys' connection on FE's squad D Bailey, B Church, and S Lee
also provided the needed scoring to beat all of Old, Bas, and
Beaud. These Dallas guys did not light up the scoreboard, but
just covering their weekly projection was better than most players on
other teams this week and that secured 2nd place for FE. On
defense the Patriots had a stellar game of 17 pts in Denver by only
allowing a single FG to the Broncos' offense. While a few weeks
ago it looked like FE had acquired a starting caliber defense in the
trade for the Rams, the Patriots have done fairly well recently and now
easily outscore the Rams through 15 weeks with an average of 7.3
compared to 5.6 pts per week for the Rams.
OldNo7 got lucky and emerged on top of a very tight pack in 3rd-4th-5th
position this week, beating Bas by only 0.25 pt and Beaud by 1.25
pt. This allowed Old to remain within striking distance of FE
only 2 rank-points behind, and also only 2 rank-points from 2nd place
since Dec is tied with FE. This 3-way race for 2nd place will be
the one to watch in the last two weeks of the season. L McCoy
took advantage of the shit Browns defense to score 2 TDs and rush for
over 150 yds. The Seahawks defense was expected to have a strong
game against the weak Rams' offense and they delivered the goods,
holding the Rams to a FG. Old might have been able to beat FE is
not for the goose egg from LB Ju Houston.
The GloriousBastards had an acceptable 4th place, sandwiched between
Old and Beaud. Unfortunately with Adm's top week Bas fell back to
last in the standings. All is not lost but with so many injuries
Bas might indeed finish last this season which was expected as a
franchise team. Bas earned 246 injury points this week alone
which is more than 100 more injury points than anybody else for the
week, and almost half of what Wax got in 15 weeks so far (584 injury
points). Apart from A Luck who scored 23.75 pts which is normally
expected, Bas got strong contribution from DL Campbell thanks to a long
TD on a fumble recovery in addition to two sacks. Team defense
was another story, with the Jets getting the nod this week but got
blown away by the Dolphins. The Texans D scored 15.5 pts on the
Bas bench which was a 16-point swing which would have been good for 2nd
place.
The BeaudoinBrothers clinched the title on a wimper with their lowest
score of the year by almost 20 pts, scoring only 112.5 pts. Dec's
disaster was enough for Beaud to put their hands on their third PQBFL
championship in the last five years. TDs were hard to come by
this week, Beaud only getting two from D Johnson and one from rookie M
Thomas. Kicker Catanzero's shit season continued and no matter
how good the Cards offense is, he just sucks. One has to wonder
why the coach started him, anyway Catanzero missed a FG and an x-point
for a total of 1.5 pt while Crosby scored 10 pts on the bench which
would have easily beat Old and Bas.
WaxOnWaxOff finished in the red for the first time since the dry spell
of weeks #5-8 but remains firmly in 5th place in the standings and will
most likely stay there. Wax continued the recent streak of
starting the correct QB with R Wilson scoring 23.5 pts against the
Rams. L Bell did not score a TD but got decent yardage to reach a
double-digit score. In that same game, the Steelers had trouble
scoring TDs in Cincy and A Brown was limited to 5.75 pts which was his
worst game of the year. Wax was without a DB this week, one
injured and one suspended, which did not help. The Vikings D was
awful and has slowed down considerably after a hot start. The
Vikings scored negative 2 pts this week, and they are averaging 5.0 pts
per game since week #8 after averaging more than 15 pts per game in
their first 6 games. Wax was able to barely reach 100 pts for the
week thanks to strong LB play from K Alexander (24 pts) and Ogletree
(13.5 pts). Note that K Alexander has been a nice surprise this
season, ranking 4th best LB and if we remove injured Kuechly and
Bowman, Alexander ranks 2nd LB in total scoring behind Wagner
(Dec).
The Decepticons had a stunningly low score of 83.5 pts, the lowest of
the entire PQBFL. The 'Cons did not score a single TD this
week, not even Brady or DeMarco Murray could bail Dec out. When
your team leader only scores 11.75 pts (D Murray), that is not a good
sign, and when he is followed by a kicker and a rookie LB as the only
other players to reach double digits, that is a major problem.
Dec's receivers D Parker, B Marshall, and T Eifert only caught a single
pass each, and none of them for more than 17 yards. So the three
receivers had combined stats of 3-42-0. Yikes. Rawls rushed
for only 34 yds and Brady did not top 200 passing yards. Dec is
now in serious danger of not only losing out to FE in 2nd place, but
perhaps Old as well and Dec might end the season in 4th place after
having hope for 1st place for much of the year.
