The
PQBFL championship race was close until weeks #12-13 but it's been a
domination in the last 2 weeks and the BeaudoinBrothers have all but
knocked out the Decepticons by taking another 3 rank-points this
week. This was the Bros' 4th win in the last 6 weeks but this
time it was not pretty, Beaud scoring within 0.25 pt of their season
low with only 130 pts. However like what happened last week,
Beaud got lucky, catching the small breaks and edged Bas by only one
point and benefited from Wax slipping between Beaud/Bas and Dec.
A 12-rank point lead at this stage of the season is nearly
unsurmountable and Beaud could pop the champagne as early as week
#15. All they need to do is beat Dec in week #14, period.
This week Beaud was not very strong, only scored 4 TDs, three of them
coming from A Rodgers who had a good game with 25.5 pts. L Murray
got the other TD and it is worth noting that he has been a key part of
Beaud's success this year. Murray ranks 7th best RB without doing
anything flashy and he came at a relatively low price in an offseason
trade because Wax did not have a roster spot for him in saved
players. Beaud's shallow depth for saved players made Murray a
good fit and the trade has paid off. Nobody else on Beaud's
starting roster scored any TD although some had acceptable stats.
The GloriousBastards came to within one point of getting their first
win of the season but fell short. At least they were able to
completely erase their deficit in last place and now lead Adm by 2 rank
points in the standings. Bas had a balanced offense this week
with 2 TDs from Luck and T Coleman, and 1 TD each from J Hill and TY
Hilton. Defense was more problematic with the Jets only scoring
3.5 pts against the weak 49ers, M Jenkins only scoring one point, and
LB T Davis being limited to 5 pts. At TE, A Gates was adequate
with 8 pts while both Gronk and Ju Thomas are out for the year.
Bas earned 215 pts injury points this week to extend their lead with
most injury points this season. Since Adm earned only half of
Bas' injury points this week, and because Bas is now ahead by over 200
injury points so far, we can mark down the 2017 #1 pick overall to be
in Bas' camp next year unless there is a bus crash in the Adm team
facility.
WaxOnWaxOff had a decent result with 3rd place this week, which was the
5th straight week of finishing at least 4th. This is too little
too late for this lost season on Wax however who will finish in 5th
place because OldNo7 is 11 rank-points ahead and Bas is 9 rank-points
behind. Looking ahead at next year, the good news is that Wax
started the correct QB again with Stafford, but he only scored 13.5 pts
which was nothing to write home about, particularly not at home against
the Bears. Also, while R Wilson was on the bench so he did not
affect this week's results, his 5-INT game in Green Bay is ominous for
his 2017 value. Wilson has been a complete disaster at 19th QB in
the PQBFL. The only QBs he beat are Osweiler, RGIII, and Romo,
two of which have been injured. On the bright side, Wax might
have two potential franchise players on the same NFL team. L Bell
had 298 yards from scrimmage and 3 TDs this week (39.75 pts) and is
worthy of franchise player consideration. This year's franchise
player A Brown is still WR1 and will possibly end the season there and
is also worth a franchise player spot.
The Decepticons have to forget about a repeat of the PQBFL championship
after finishing 4th which was a third straight so-so result for the
team and they have not been able to keep up with Beaud. At least
Dec was able to beat FE on MNF with Brady outscoring Blount+PatsDEF
particularly in the second half of the game. Dec was behind by a
decent margin but Brady's 79-yard TD pass late in the 4th quarter moved
Dec ahead of FE for good. Dec therefore leads FE by 5 rank-points
rather than 3 rank-points which is far more comfortable. Other
than Brady, TE Eifert was a good contributor with 2 TDs. The
Bengals defense did well against the weak Browns, but could have done
better than 10.5 pts. On defense, Dec usually has someone with a
big score, but this week it did not happen. Wagner's 12 pts and C
Graham's 9.5 pts were fine, but not enough to carry Dec to the win this
week: after all Dec was beat by only 130-117 by Beaud this week so an
extra 13.25 pts would have been enough to move from 4th place to 1st
place. But nobody did a top job on defense and Kiko Alonso's
injury did not help, with Dec getting a goose egg at the
position.
FlyingElvis stumbled with a disappointing 5th place and only 111.5
pts. The Patriots defense started the game well on MNF with only
3 pts allowed, one safety, one blocked FG, and one turnover in the
first half. However the special teams disintegrated in the second
half with two fumbles, on a punt and kickoff, leading the way to 14
easy points for the Ravens and caused FE to lose to Dec. FE got a
number of disastrous scores throughout the starting lineup with only 4
pts from D Carr, 0.25 pt from M Gordon, 1.75 pts from A Robinson, and
3.75 pts from D Walker. Even E Elliott could not score and was
limited to single digits. Fortunately FE did not finish at the
bottom thanks to strong games by LBs S Lee (20 pts) and J Collins (19
pts) in addition to Mack+Church scoring 9 and 9.5 pts which is not
bad.
OldNo7 failed to reach 100 pts and got their worst week of the season
with 6th place. Old fell one rank point behind FE in 3rd place in
the standings and does not have the tie-breaker. Because the
Steelers did all their damage on the ground with L Bell, Big Ben was
worthless with -1.75 pt. Forte did not do much better with 0.5
pt. Forte has been mediocre since coming back from his bye week,
with only 11 pts in 3 games. WR A Cooper is one of the most up
and down top 10 WRs of the PQBFL, and this week was a down week with
only 6.25 pts. On defense the Seahawks were crushed by the
Packers, giving up 38 pts. The only players with a decent score
this week were L McCoy (14 pts), ODB (17.5 pts), and Kelce (10
pts). Even rookie Wentz had an off game, with 1 TD but 2
turnovers.
The Admirals finished last for the 4th time in 5 weeks with only 89
pts, also the 4th time the team did not score 100 pts during this
difficult streak. It is interesting that the only time Adm did
not finish last during this time was the famous 181.75 pt week in week
12. So it's feast or famine, but mostly famine for Adm.
That means week 12's success has been completely squandered and Adm is
back in last place behind Bas. The Adm coach made the gutsy call
of starting K Cousins and benching Brees and it turned out great,
Cousins outscoring Brees 19.25 pts to -0.5 pt for Brees. That is
about the only thing that went right all week for Adm however. D
Freeman only scored 1.5 pt because T Coleman (Bas) did most of the
scoring. J Ajayi did not do anything special (6.25 pts) and Dez
Bryant found a way to score in negative territory, fumbling away his
only reception of the day. Other than Cousins, the only good
score of the week was E Sanders who scored 21 pts and has been climbing
the WR rankings recently, now at WR9.
