The
BeaudoinBrothers hit the Decepticons in the mouth by beating them by 4
rank points to extend their lead in first place to a commanding 9-rank
points. At this stage it will take a massive collapse by the Bros
to deny them the PQBFL championship. The BeaudoinBrothers got
lucky this week by edging FE by 0.25 pt and Old by 3 pts and the Bros'
152.25 pts was the lowest winning score of the season. Jimmy
Graham beat FE at the finish line with a TD on SNF while Kawann Short
was limited to 5 pts in that same game. Beaud's RBs were
explosive this week with 2 TDs each for L Murray and D Johnson, Murray
getting over 100 yards from scrimmage, and D Johnson almost 200
yards. The difference maker this week was the college position
because D Watson (Clem) was playing in the championship game and scored
10.75 pts, while FE's (and any other team except Old) college players
were idle.
FE finished sandwiched between Beaud and OldNo7 and is now tied with
Old in 3rd place of the standings and FE owning the tiebreaker for
now. FE was able to beat Old without a college player and without
a TE because all were on bye or injured. Zeke, D Carr, M Gordon,
Blount, and J Nelson all scored TDs and had decent weekly scores.
On defense, the Pats neutralized the Rams and K Mack had a second
straight strong week, with 16.5 pts this time around. The one
laggard in the starting lineup was WR A Robinson who was held to 4.5
pts against the Broncos. This is where AJ Green's injury is
hurting.
OldNo7 had the win all but wrapped up but M Forte chocked on MNF with
only 6.5 pts and Old was unable to beat FE and Beaud. The table
was all set thanks to double digit scores by almost the entire Old
starting roster: Roeth, L McCoy, ODB, A Cooper, Kelce, the Seahawks
defense, O Vernon, L Collins, and Wentz. The only bad score was
the goose egg from C Santos who missed an extra point. Old's LBs
were not great either with only 5 pts from Barron and 8 pts from J
Houston, but otherwise Old had done everything needed to win with a
score that should have been above 150 pts.
WaxOnWaxOff finished in the middle of the pack with 138.5 pts and is
now nearly assured of finishing 5th in the standings by extending their
lead over Adm but dropping further behind FE and Old. For perhaps
the first time of the season, Wax started the correct QB with Stafford
outscoring R Wilson 26 to 13.25. L Bell, L Fitz, and A Brown all
had good games, scoring between 12 pts and 15.5 pts. Even C
Fleener was adequate in replacement for injured J Reed with 9.25
pts. The lone key position player who did not get the job done
was Gurley who sucked balls with 3.75 pts against New England.
With an average of 8 pts per game and 22nd best RB, the first pick
overall has been one massive bust particularly given that he's been
injury-free (at least that we know of).
The Decepticons' hopes for a PQBFL championship repeat possibly came to
an end this week with a second straight 5th place finish. The
truth is that this team is not as good as it looked previously, as
noted by the 5th place in strength of starters so far this year,
ranking behind Beaud, FE, Old, and Wax. Dec stayed in the hunt
because a lot of close calls went Dec's way during the season, except
in the last two weeks where the opposite happened. Dec has scored
about the same total points than Old and FE and yet still lead both by
4 rank points. It is not a given that Dec will hold on to 2nd
place in the standings. Dec's 124.75 pts this week was the team's
lowest score since week #3 when Dec finished 6th. Brady was so-so
this week with 14.75 pts because he is affected by injuries in his
receiving squad. D Murray was on bye and L Miller did not do
squat with only 1.5 pt. The only good news is that Rawls came
back from injury and was strong with 22.75 pts. The rookie
position was supposed to be a strong point for Dec down the stretch,
but P Lynch started this week and did not do much, completing only 12
passes for 4 pts. Goff did not do much better from the bench with
4.25 pts.
The GloriousBastards shaved one point off Adm's lead in 6th place and
kept hope to avoid finishing last this year. That was pretty much
the only good news of the week because Bas had their lowest score of
the season with 101.75 pts. C Palmer had a strong game with 30
pts but Luck did even better on the bench with 35.25 pts but it did not
matter in the end. Starting injured Gronk with Gates' 5.25 pts on
the bench and starting C Coleman on bye with K Dixon scoring 6.25 pts
on the bench were also not the difference maker, but those zeros add
up. Among those who played, many starters underperformed relative
to their weekly projection, for example T Coleman (4 pts), J Hill (8.75
pts), Baldwin (9.25 pts) and defense where nobody lit up the
scoreboard.
After week 12's massive score, Adm came back to earth scoring less than
half of last week with only 88.75 pts which was the shittiest score of
the entire league all year. D Brees is normally the definition of
stability and he had scored double digits all year long until this week
with a stunning dud of 1.75 pt due to 3 turnovers and no TD, at home to
boot. E Sanders also came back to earth with only 4.5 pts, the
explanation being that his QB was Lynch this time around. Rookie
D Henry being on bye did not help, and there was also not much
production on defense either. The only good score was D Freeman's
18.75 pts thanks to 2 TDs and over 100 yards from scrimmage.
