FlyingElvis
went from red hot to white hot with their second win of the season and
finishing in the top 2 for the fourth straight week after not touching
the top 2 in the first 6 weeks of the season. This week FE scored
an eye watering 216.25 pts which is a stunning 35.75 pts better than
any other score by any team all year. FE came oh so close of
beating the all-time best weekly score of 217.5 pts by the Spitoons in
2005 week #3. The league management had to verify if FE had not
submitted an illegal starting lineup above the required 14 starters
which would explain how FE could score so many points, but all was
in order. Rookie Elliott is clearly justifying his first round
draft pick status. With 38.25 pts this week, he is easily the
most dominating player at any position, averaging 18.0 pts per game
compared to second best M Thomas (Beaud) at 11.9 pts per game, so more
than 50% above the next best rookie. An average of 18 pts per
game is even better than the best RB of the league D Johnson (Beaud) at
17.4 pts. The worst starters for FE this week were COL McNichols
(6.75 pts) and DL Short (8 pts) which are not bad scores at all
considering their position. Everybody else in the FE lineup
scored 9 pts or more.
WaxOnWaxOff was finally able to finish in the blue for the first time
since week #4 with a strong 163 pts and second place. Coaching
efficiency was above 80% for only the second time of the year at 82.6%
and Wax benefited from solid games by R Wilson (29 pts), L Bell (20
pts), A Brown (27 pts), and L Fitz (18.5 pts). There was no
chance Wax could beat FE this week, but we should note that the Vikings
defense has slowed down and they only scored 1 pt in a sorry effort in
Washington, while Wax's backups the Chiefs D scored 13 pts in an
impressive win in Carolina. Wax owns the top 2 defenses in the
PQBFL and the Chiefs are now only half a point behind the Vikings in
second place.
The Decepticons only scored 3 TDs but nonetheless finished with an
acceptable 3rd place and beat the BeaudoinBrothers by one spot to move
to 2 rank-points behind first place in the standings. D Murray
scored 2 of the Dec's 3 TDs including a long run and a TD pass.
The other TD came from LB Alonso who picked off a pass and returned it
60 yards to the house. QB Brady was held in check by the tough
Seahawks defense (Old), L Miller also did not find the end zone, and
all three receivers did not score either. However Dec got decent
yardage from Ju Jones (10-135) and T Eifert (3-96) which prevented Dec
from having a bad week. On defense, Alonso's TD salvaged what
would have otherwise been a disappointing performance with all
defenders and the Panthers not scoring double digits.
The BeaudoinBrothers came out on top of a tight pack in 4th-5th-6th
place which is the first time of the year that Beaud won close
matchups. On SNF, J Graham did just enough with 4-48 (6.25 pts)
to avoid Beaud finishing in the red and losing valuable ground to Dec
in first place. A Rodgers scored lots of garbage-time points in a
blowout loss to the Titans and he finished with 3 TDs and 2 INTs.
RB D Johnson scored twice and 20.25 pts is nothing to sneeze at, but at
home against the 49ers one could have expected better. Rookie M
Thomas had a rare bad game, catching only 4 passes and fumbling 2
of them away. At RB J-Stew played second fiddle to Cam Newton who took
care of the ground game. WRs M Evans and D Hopkins each scored
7.25 pts which did not get the job done.
OldNo7 finished only 2.5 pts behind Beaud and fell further in the
standings, now 9 pts away from first place and 5 pts behind third place
FE. Big Ben almost scored 30 pts on Dallas and ODB attempted a
comeback against Beaud on MNF with 22.25 pts, but Old fell short due to
lackluster games from R Cobb (5.5 pts) and Old's RBs Forte and D Martin
who did not reach double digits. Rookie Wentz did not score a TD
once again and his 5.25 pts this week is far from his early season
performances. On defense, L Collins had an INT, but his game was
not stellar otherwise because he only had 5 tackles 0 assist. The rest of
the defense was not great, with the starting DL and LBs scoring 5, 6,
and 6 pts. The Seahawks D had to start due to the Colts bye week,
and starting on the road in NE is not optimal. The Hawks won the
game, but only scored 1.5 pt on defense.
The GloriousBastards attempted a furious comeback on SNF with D
Baldwin's 3 TDs but fell just short of Beaud and Old to end up with the
short end of the stick. Newly acquired RB J Hill continued to pay
dividends with a short TD, which is better than all other RBs on
Bas's team who are injured or benched, such as Matt Jones who was a
healthy scratched by the Skins. Luck was on bye and Bas sent
Dalton in the game, but he was so-so on MNF with only 11 pts. On
defense, the Texans had a rare good game with 12 pts in a win in
Jacksonville thanks to an INT returned for a TD. On offense, note
that K Benjamin is still stuck in neutral after scoring 8 pts this
week, which was his 7th straight game below 12.5 pts.
The Admirals sucked balls this week with a sub-100 point week. D
Brees scored 3 TDs and D Thomas added another one, but every other
starter scored 7.5 pts or below, which is quite dreadful. Defense
continues to be a disaster for Adm, this week the team scored 22.5 pts
from the 4 defenders and the Cards included. The Cards D should
have done better against the weak 49ers at home, but they almost gave
the game away. At LB and DB the coach chose the worst possible
starters because all 4 benched players did better than the 3
starters. Adm is not being helped by a slew of injuries and leads
the league in injury points, this week the problem was that both
college QBs are hurt so Adm scored zero at the position.
