The BeaudoinBrothers were the first team to top 180 pts this year and they won for
the third time with a strong performance where it was raining
TDs left and right, for a total of 12 this week. It's not that
everybody contributed to a big week, far from it. But the top players
this week all had very strong games. No less than 5 players had
multi-TD games: A Rodgers (3), L Murray (3), M Evans (2), J Graham (2),
and rookie M Thomas (2). The Bros might have been able to score 200+
if not for weakness on defense. The Broncos were porous against the
Raiders and finished with -1 pt. DL Quinn has been an abysmal
acquisition via trade so far, costing the team a rank-point the week he
was acquired, and he followed up with a goose egg this week. Kuechly
was off from his game with only 6 pts. Regardless, the Bros extended
their lead in the standings to 3-rank points over Dec.
FlyingElvis is flying at Elvis-high levels, and the team is the hottest in the PQBFL
right now, finishing in the top 2 for the third straight week, which no
other team has accomplished so far. In every week except week #1,
174.5 pts would have been enough to win, but not this week. FE
took
over third place in the standings in front of Old and is now only 4
rank-points behind Dec in 2nd place. The acquisition of the Rams
defense from Dec immediately paid off. FE was in a bind due to
bye weeks, and not only did FE acquire a defense which will become a starting
defense because they are better than the Patriots, but in addition the
Rams' strong game against the Panthers was enough to beat Dec this week. On
offense, FE got good games from almost the entire lineup: T Taylor
scored over 20 pts, M Gordon had 261 yards from scrimmage, R Mathews
scored a short TD, A Robinson and J Nelson each caught 7 passes and one
TD, TE Walker scored, and rookie Elliott scored 2 more TDs and
continues to rule all rookies in the PQBFL.
The Decepticons scored a strong 165 pts but that was no better than 3rd
this week. In Brady's absence (bye), backup Mariota scored 24.25
pts and led the entire Dec team this week. Mariota should consider
himself lucky to have scored so many points because he was responsible
for a pick-6 and a fumble returned for a TD and the Titans lost because
of him. On MNF, LB Wagner was all over the field and finished
with 8 tackles, 8 assists, 3 QB hits, and half a sack, but came up
short in beating FE. The rookie position continues to be a bit
of a drag for Dec, particularly this week relative to Beaud and FE who
have the two best rookies in the PQBFL. This week, rookie LB D
Jones only scored 6 pts which was short of the 2-TD games of Beaud+FE
rookies. Jones is the 5th best rookie so far at mid-season which
is not bad at all, but Dec must surely chump at the bit waiting for
Goff or P Lynch to be sent as starters for their NFL team. Only then, Dec only have D Jones as an available rookie.
OldNo7 finished in the middle of the pack, but for the second straight
week, Beaud, Dec, and FE all finished ahead so Old slipped further in
the standings and the team is now 8 rank-points behind first place
Beaud. OldNo7 was somewhat in the hunt this week until MNF but
things fell apart when L McCoy was held without a TD, the Seahawks
defense was not effective with only 0.5 pt, and LB P Brown only scored
6 pts. Beaud, Dec, and FE all had active players during that MNF
game and they did better than Old's crew, leaving OldNo7 in the
dust. This week, DB Collins was Old's leader with 21 pts and he
continues to dominate all DBs in the PQBFL, extending his lead over all
other healthy DBs to 4.5 pts per game. QB Wentz has slowed down
after a fast start. This week, Wentz threw 2 INTs and did not
have a TD in the Eagles loss. The QB position is supposed to be a
strength for Old, but until Newton and Roethlisberger are fully healthy
it will be hit and miss. This week Newton scored 13.75 pts which
is ok, but short of his 18-pt average this season.
WaxOnWaxOff finished out of the red for the first time in 5 weeks, but
122.75 pts will not cut it. Wax avoided the red simply because
Bas and Adm were even worse. The Wax coach's disastrous season
continued this week with 65.4% coaching efficiency, bringing down the
team's season average below 70%. This week's decisions: E Manning
(28.25 pts) and R Wilson (27 pts) on the bench, Stafford the starter
with 16.25 pts. G Tate on the bench (22 pts), Cooks the starter
with 8.25 pts. The Chiefs defense on the bench at home against
the Jaguars (9 pts), the Vikings the starters with 2 pts against the
Lions. DB Vaccaro (13 pts) on the bench, H Smith the starter with
7 pts. Finally, the RB decision which would have been harder to
pull off: M Ingram (27.25 pts) on the bench, with Gurley (6 pts) and L
Bell (6.75 pts) the starters. At some point, the Wax coach will
have to stop relying on Gurley's first round pick status and look more
at his on the field performances which suck. He ranks 23rd best
RB in the PQBFL at mid season.
The Admirals scored only 110 pts for the second straight week and
finished just in front of the GloriousBastards in 6th place.
Scoring came from the usual suspects for Adm. Brees had a nice
game with 27.75 pts. Jay Ajayi failed in his quest to rush for
200 yards for the third straight week, but he nonetheless had a TD and
120 yards from scrimmage. The only other double-digit score came
from TE Olsen with 12.5 pts. Everybody else in the starting
lineup disappointed, notably Dez Bryant who only caught one pass.
Defense was awful for Adm again with the Packers not doing much in
their loss to the Colts, and the four individual defenders combining
for only 21 pts.
The GloriousBastards finished last for the second time of the season
with a season-low 102.5 pts. Three injuries and three bye weeks
meant that only RB Duke Johnson was available out of 7 RBs, and Johnson
scored a lowly 3.75 pts and there was nobody else available for the
second RB starter spot. QBs Dalton and Palmer were on bye, which
forced A Luck in the starting lineup. He had 1 TD but 2 INTs and
did not reach double digits against the Packers defense. WR K
Benjamin had a hot start in the first two weeks of the season, but he
has averaged less than 9 pts per game in the next 5, along with Cam
Newton's struggles. This week Benjamin scored 8.75 pts which is
not enough to get the job done. On defense, Bas had 4 bye weeks
and 1 injury, which means that there was not a single choice of starter
to make, similar to the QB position. The Jets, C Jordan, M
Jenkins, R Nelson, and T Davis all had to start regardless of the
matchup. All of them underperformed their weekly projection
except for T Davis who was the only bright spot for Bas this week,
scoring 23 pts.
