FlyingElvis
won for the first time of the year, with the lowest winning score of
the year at 155 pts in what turned out to be the lowest scoring week of
the season so far. With this second straight good week, FE is now
only one rank-point behind Old in the standings and within reach of
first/second place as well. FE cannot be counted out. The
leader this week was without any doubt QB D Carr who threw for 4 TDs
and 500+ yards. Who would have thought that he would be ranked
top 5 QB in the PQBFL at mid season? The coach should consider
himself lucky to escape with the win despite the bone head move of
starting Weddle on bye. The rest of the defense was horrendous,
except for K Mack who continues to improve after a slow start and
scored 20 pts this week and now ranks 2nd best DL.
The Decepticons finished 2nd and are now only one rank-points behind
first-place Beaud. Dec had an erratic start of the year with two
red spots in the first three weeks, but have since finished top 4 for
five straight weeks. QB Brady has been the main reason for this
and he scored 38.75 pts against the normally decent Bills defense, in
Buffalo to boot. RB D Murray rushed for 100 yards and a TD again,
which he seems to do just about every week. The return to health
of a TE made a big difference this week with Eifert's 21 pts. The
only reason Dec did not win this week was the poor WR play with only
8.75 pts from the Joneses (Julio and Marvin).
The BeaudoinBrothers had an ok week with 3rd place thanks mostly to
Aaron Rodgers's 4 TDs because the rest of the lineup was nothing to
write home about. The Broncos D provided the only other TD
because all RBs and receivers were shut out. The coach had a
disastrous week and was responsible for the Bros not winning.
Jonathan Stewart was benched (17 pts) in favor of L Murray (5.75 pts)
and starting WRs Evans (8.5 pts) and Hopkins (6 pts) were both
outscored by Jeffery (13 pts) and J Matthews (19.25 pts) on the
bench. On defense, apart from the Broncos, no individual defender
had a bad game, but nobody provided a big spark either. The top
game was 11.5 pts from Kuechly which is below his season average so
nothing special.
OldNo7 finished in the middle of the pack this week but lost ground to
all other 3 teams in the race FE, Dec, and Beaud. Not much more
could have been expected given the bye weeks and injuries which forced
three goose eggs in the lineup, one at WR and two on defense. You
would think the GM could have tried to remedy this situation, but
no. Perhaps he thought golden boy Wentz could carry the day, but
unfortunately he did not, scoring an ok 12.25 pts but nothing
more. A Cooper and Kelce were the leaders this week with 27.5 pts
and 18 pts, respectively. But aside from the zero scores, Newton
is playing but is not himself, and he was held to no score and 10.5
pts. McCoy's injury at RB forced Yeldon into the lineup and he
only scored 4.5 pts. Only the ineptitude of other teams Adm Bas
Wax prevented OldNo7 from having a worse week.
The Admirals barely beat Bas this week in 5th place and are now tied
with Bas in fifth place overall as well. This was not pretty
however because Adm only scored 110 pts which is just one hair higher
than their season low score of 109.75 pts in week 1. TD-wise this
was not a bad week at all for Adm. Brees scored 2 TDs, D Freeman
2 as well, and for once Adm got a good game from a rookie, with D Henry
scoring 1 TD and almost reaching 100 yards from scrimmage. In
addition to these 5 TDs, Adm got decent games from both LBs and the
starting DB who all scored double digits. The problem for Adm
this week was that yardage left to be desired, with Brees under 300
yards, D Freeman rushing for only 35 pts, James White let's not even
talk about it, Greg Olsen had an awful game of only 1-11, and the
Broncos WRs Sanders + Demaryius combined for 9-147 which decent but not
great.
The GloriousBastards finished in the red for the first time since week
4 and have not finished higher than 4th place since the good start in
week 1 when the team was 2nd. Newly acquired RB J Hill did his
job with 11 pts and the other starting RB Duke Johnson had 87 receiving
yards so ended up with an acceptable game. Gronk had a good game
with 5-109-1 but the WRs did not, particularly TY Hilton only had one
reception and Baldwin only 4-51. It's not that A Luck did not
have a good game which kept Hilton quiet. Luck instead spread the
ball around and finished the week with 18 pts. Defense was porous
for Bas this week with the Jets almost losing to the Browns and only
scored 1.5 pts. DB Nelson only scored 1 pt, and injured player
replacement Bernardrick McKinney only scored 5.5 pts. Might as
well not have any replacement at all.
WaxOnWaxOff's nightmare season continues. Just when you think it
could not get any worse, Wax finished last for the second straight
week, third time in 4 weeks, and 4th time in 8 weeks so far. And
Wax became the first team this year to fail to break the century mark:
Wax only scored 93 pts. Not only Wax is now solidly in last place
in the standings, but the team will soon be the lowest scoring team in
the league, only in front of Adm 1004.75 pts to 1004.25 pts at the
moment. The strength of starters is still decent in 3rd place,
but coaching efficiency remains a disaster in last place by far and
this week was no exception, Wax having the lowest efficiency in the
league. It is quite an accomplishment to have barely 70% coaching
efficiency when so many players are injured or on bye, making starting
choices easy. For example, 3/5 RBs on Wax's roster were on bye,
so clearly the starters were Ingram and Crowell. With L Bell and
Gurley on bye, it was Ingram's time in the sunlight and he finished the
game early with -2.75 pts after fumbling the ball and being put in the
dog house. TE J Reed scored 20.75 pts on the bench instead of
starter Fleener with 5.75 pts and Wax started R Wilson (6 pts) the week
the team acquired Stafford (13 pts) in a trade. What was the
point of the trade? Stafford's average this year is almost 10 pts
per game higher than R Wilson, and he was benched?
