The
Decepticons won for the second time in 4 weeks and for the third time
this year with 158.25 pts. The 'Cons moved to within 2 rank-points
of the BeaudoinBrothers which must be very satisfying given that Brady
missed part of the season and Dec's TEs are about to get healthy.
Dec has the highest strength of starters of the league and are in very
good position to take over the top of the standings sooner rather than
later. TE Eifert made a cameo return with only 1.25 pt this week
but he should get better from here on. Julio Jones had a big game
with 9-174 which could have been bigger if he had scored a TD.
Bobby Wagner also contributed nicely with 18 pts particularly with an
important blocked kick against the Cards. Wagner is only 0.2 pt
per game behind Kuechly (Beaud) as the best LB in the PQBFL so far. RB D
Murray continued his bounce-back season with another 100 rushing yard
game and a score.
FlyingElvis got their best week of the season with 147 pts and second
place. RBs Blount and Gordon had a big week with 5 short TDs
together. There are increasing concerns about Gordon's massive
usage by the Chargers and he could break down soon. In the mean
time he is performing as the 3rd best RB in the PQBFL. WR AJ
Green scored a long TD and had well over 150 yards in an easy match-up
against the lowly Browns. TE D Walker had been a bit bothered by
an injury recently which slowed him down but the acquisition of TE
Barnidge by FE via a trade seems to have shaken Walker into
action. He caught 7 passes for 84 yds and a score. This
week's 2nd place result was unexpected for FE because rookie Elliott was on bye
and backup Prosise is worthless.
The BeaudoinBrothers once again came up with the short end of the stick
in a close match-up, losing by 1.25 pt to FE. Beaud has scored
almost 10 pts per week more than Dec but only hold a slim 2 rank-point
lead in the standings. This week's result can be blamed on the
untimely trade for DL Quinn who is playing injured and scored a goose egg,
while Mario Williams who was traded away scored 3 pts which would have
been enough to beat FE. Also, what to say of stupid kicker Crosby
who missed an extra point which cost Beaud second place. On
offense, A Rodgers had to do all the work himself because the Packers
no longer have a RB and he finally woke up in the second half with 3
TDs to save the day. WR M Evans was solid again with 22.75 pts
and he leads all WRs in the PQBFL through 7 weeks. We should also
note the big game of rookie WR M Thomas who scored 18.5 pts and he
seems on the verge of taking over as the most valuable WR in New
Orleans. So far his average is only 1 pt per game less than B
Cooks (Wax). And he's a rookie.
The Admirals finished 4th this week and climbed out of last place in
front of Wax. As it's been the case most of the year, QB Brees
was the team leader with 25 pts. He was closely followed by the
recent surprise emergence of RB Ajayi who rushed for 200+ yards for the
second straight week which is quite an accomplisment. He has come
out of the dog house and is now a top 10 RB and Arian Foster's
retirement can only help to keep Ajayi as a no-brainer weekly starting
option in the Adm lineup regardless of matchup. Adm could have
gotten a bit more production from the TE spot this week but Olsen's bye
week was untimely and backup M Bennett has slowed down considerably and
scored a season-low 1.25 pt. Adm also did not get acceptable
games from the starting LBs V Miller and D Johnson who only scored 3
pts and 5 pts, respectively.
The GloriousBastards finished 5th this week which is not too horrible
given that they only scored 122.75 pts which was the team's second
worst score of the year. The coach had the guts to bench QB Luck
for a second straight week but this time in favor of Dalton rather than
Stafford. Dalton had a good game against the Browns with 26.25
pts, unlike in week #6, the move did not pay off in week #7 because
Luck did even better with 30 pts. Fortunately this did not impact
this week's standings. Starting WR TY Hilton was the recepient of
a good chunk of Luck's passes and scored 20.5 pts in the lineup for
Bas. TE Gronk had his third straight double-digit game with
4-93-1. RB Matt Jones had a disastrous week with only 0.25 pt
after being benched for fumbling too much. He had ball security
issues going into this week and he fumbled at the Lions' 2-yard line in
the first quarter and did not see the field much after that.
OldNo7 had an off week with only 114.75 pts and only avoided last place
because of DB Landon Collins' big game of 2 INTs and one TD (26
pts). Collins took the lead as the best DB in the PQBFL and since
Reshad Jones (Beaud) who is second best DB is on injured reserve,
Collins is all by himself in first. Matt Forte scored two short
TDs and topped 20 pts for the second time this year. The only
other good week came from COL Baker Mayfield's mammoth 7-TD game with
545 passing yards in a wild shootout against Patrick Mahomes (Dec) from
Texas Tech. The rest of Old's starters were awful, notably backup
QB Osweiler who had to start due to Big Ben's injury and Newton's bye
week. Osweiler was worthless with only 2.5 pts against the tough
Broncos defense. RB L McCoy is affected by an injury and could
only rush for 11 yards before bailing out. Old's WRs are not as
banged up and more was expected of them. ODB and A Cooper did not
get the job done with only 12.5 pts combined.
WaxOnWaxOff's disastrous season continues. No team has finished
in last place more than once so far this year, except Wax who has
visited the cellar for already the third time. Wax was the
undisputed pre-season favorite and it is stunning to see this team in
last place close to mid season. One has to wonder if the GM will
throw the towel before the trade deadline. Wax was 1st in
strength of starters as recently as three weeks ago, then dropped to
2nd after week #5, 3rd after week #6, and now fell further to 5th so
the outlook for a bounce back is dim. What is all the more
stunning is that this has happened with Wax earning the fewest injury
points of the entire league by a wide margin, with Beaud having almost
twice as many injury points in 6th place for injury points. Wax's
GM threw a huge fit in the locker room after the game and he was ready
to fire everybody as the week was shit from A to Z. No player
scored more than 12.75 pts and 13 out of 14 starters underperformed
relative to their weekly projection, the only one beating his
projection was LB Kwon Alexander who scored 12 pts compared to a
projection of 9 pts this week which is nothing to write home about.
