The
BeaudoinBrothers came from behind on MNF with David Johnson's 3-TD
performance to snatch week #6 away from OldNo7 and took sole possession
of first place in the standings. It did not look like Beaud would
be able to emerge as winners this week after A Rodgers' painful game on
SNF with only one late TD and two turnovers. However D Johnson
once again bailed out his team with a monster game. He currently
leads all RBs in the PQBFL by almost three points per game with an
average of 18.8 pts per game. This is far more than even the
leading WR Antonio Brown at 16.2 pts. To put things in
perspective, last year there are 7 WRs who finished with a higher
average than the top RB D Freeman who was not even drafted and was
merely an injured player replacement. The fact that David Johnson is outscoring all WRs
early this season is all the more remarkable.
OldNo7 almost got their first back-to-back wins ever this week and it
looks like this team is in the race to stay. While they did not
win this week, this team has erased any doubt about whether they would
crash like prior years' versions of OldNo7. There is so much fire
power on this team that even when Big Ben gets injured mid game and is
held below 10 pts, even when rookie Wentz does not throw for a TD and
is limited to 5.75 pts, Old still found a way to score over 150
pts. ODB picked up the slack with a monster 30+ pt game which was
a much needed breakout after not scoring more than 13 pts in any game
in the first five weeks. L McCoy was also the other savior for
QB/Rookie woes with 3 TDs and 29.75 pts. Old fell short because
Forte was dreadful on MNF with only 22 yards from scrimmage and 1.75 pt.
The Decepticons had a decent week with 142.75 pts but unfortunately
their main two opponents in the standings Old and Beaud did better so
they are falling further away from first place in the standings.
Brady has now scored 60 pts in two weeks since his return which has
fuelled Dec but results have been disappointing, losing to both Beaud
and Old in weeks 5-6. One of the problem has been the lack of
healthy TE despite a trade and the inability to make another
trade. All three Dec TEs were sidelined this week once
again. Team Defense has also been a problem with the Rams scoring
a goose egg this week, giving up 31 pts to the Lions in an unacceptable
loss for a defense supposed to be top notch. Through six weeks,
the Rams defense ranks in the bottom half which is not what they were
advertised to be.
The GloriousBastards had their best week since week #2 with 4th place
and moved to within 2 rank-points of the middle of the standings which
is much better than anticipated. QB Stafford led the team with 32
pts; starting him this week was a gutsy move that paid off for the coach, benching A Luck
against the Texans and going with Stafford even though he was playing
the Rams defense. This call made the difference between 4th place
and 6th place. We can officially call Gronk healthy following his
7-162-1 game and with Brady back he should climb towards the top of the TE
rankings in no time. The situation was more problematic on the
ground for Bas with Lacy and CJ Anderson being held to 5.75 pts each
with their team losing games they were not supposed to lose.
The Admirals had another sub-par week with 5th place and remain in
last place in the standings but within striking distance of 4th place
due to FE's bad week. QB Brees had a big week with 465 passing
yards and 4 TDs. He outscored by himself all other offensive
players (2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE) who combined for only 33 pts. The
pair of Broncos WRs had a particularly miserable game with D Thomas
only scoring 3.75 pts and E Sanders only 6 pts, against a subpar
Chargers defense. The Cards defense provided a spark on MNF to
beat Wax at the finish line by holding the Jets to only 3 pts and 230
total yds. Late in the 4th quarter, Adm needed a couple more
points and T Mathieu's INT with 4 min left made the difference.
WaxOnWaxOff's struggles continued with a third week in the red in six
weeks, and this week Wax finished less than one point behind Adm.
The Wax coach had
another abysmal week with the starting lineup with sub 70% efficiency
once again. QB R Wilson started but did not score a TD and was
limited to 8.5 pts while E Manning scored 30.25 pts from the
bench. This decision alone was the difference between 3rd place
and 6th place. After benching L Fitz and his 24 pts last week,
Fitz started this week but only scored 7.25 pts while B Cooks and G
Tate each scored 23+ pts on the bench. Wax coaching efficiency
after 6 weeks is less than 70%, far below any other team in the PQBFL
which are all at 78% or above. Backup TE C Fleener was
surprinsingly Wax's top scorer this week as a replacement for injured J
Reed. Fleener scored 2 TDs and 22.75 pts.
After five weeks of averageness, FE broke down this week and were
within one point of having the worst score of the PQBFL this week with
only 110.5 pts. FE was nonetheless able to hold on to 4th place
in the standings, two rank-points ahead of Wax and Bas. The coach made the
bonehead move of starting COL McCaffrey on bye week but McNichols' 8.5
pts on the bench would not have made the difference. FE was inept
on offense this week, with D Carr only throwing for one TD (2
turnovers) and Blount scoring a short TD. M Gordon, A Robinson, J
Nelson, and D Walker were all scoreless. Rookie Elliott also did
not score but at least he was able to get decent yardage and finished
the game with 14.5 pts which is good for a rookie.
