The
Decepticons' up and down early season continues, with a second win in
four weeks to go along with two 6th place finishes. This week's
win brings the Decepticons up in the standings from next-to-last (tied
with Wax, FE, and Bas in 3rd place, but below all of them because of
the tie-breaker) to now tied in first place with Beaud. This
shows how tight the standings are this year. The Cons won
relatively easily this week thanks to a monster game by Julio Jones who
reached 300 yards by himself and he is not a QB if anybody needed a reminder. DeMarco Murray also had a nice game
with two short TDs and over 100 yards from scrimmage. He is
surprisingly the best RB in the PQBFL through 4 weeks.
WaxOnWaxOff continues their march upward in the standings and the team
is now only one rank-point away from first place after a disastrous
first two weeks this season. Wax remains the league favorites at
this stage given their first place in strength of starters and the
return this week of L Bell which was a very obvious help to Wax
production. Bell did not score because the Steelers were able to
score at will through the air, but rushing TDs by Bell are only a matter of
time. Bell finished the game with 178 yards from scrimmage in his
return from suspension. Antonio Brown was a major recipient of
those TDs in that same game with 2, but he was a bit more quiet on the
yardage front with only 64 yds. TE Jordan Reed was Wax's top
scorer this week. After a slow start with only 25.25 pts in three
games, Reed scored 22.5 pts in week #4 alone.
FlyingElvis has been the most consistent team this year and the only
team to avoid finishing in the red. This week was no different
and was actually FE's highest finish with 3rd place. This was
achieved despite the bone-head move of the coach to start Jordy Nelson
on bye while Allen Robinson scored 12.75 pts on the bench so FE
should have beat Wax this week. QB Derek Carr had his best game
of the year with close to 30 pts and he moved up to 3rd best QB in the
PQBFL so far. AJ Green also continues to do well with 23.5 pts
this week. At RB the strategy of drafting both M Gordon and
Woodhead and hope for one to get injured is paying off. Gordon is
now the clear starter and he scored two more TDs this week.
The Admirals avoided finishing in the red for the third straight week
and despite some early season struggles and despite still being in last
place, they are now only 5 rank-points behind first place which is an
incredibly tight spread from first to last. Drew Brees had an off
week with 10.5 pts but Adm's receivers picked up the slack with E
Sanders, D Thomas, and G Olsen all scoring between 16.5 pts and 17.75
pts. TE Olsen has been a hit so far, outscoring all TEs by at
least 2 pts per game. Adm was also helped for once by defense
because of Cameron Heyward's 3-sack game. This mitigated the lack
of production at the rookie position with D Henry scoring less than a
single point.
The BeaudoinBrothers have been almost equally up and down as Dec and
they finished 5th this week. The bye week of Aaron Rodgers was
painful with Tannehill struggling for only 8.25 pts thanks to a lucky
long TD while the rest of his game was total shit. The
BeaudoinBrothers are also starting to be affected by half of their RBs
being injured. Gio Bernard was unable to get anything going on
the ground and was held to 3.5 pts. At WR Hopkins was held to
only 1 reception which is unacceptable for someone supposed to be a top
WR especially if there is a rookie WR on the team outscoring him
regularly (Fuller - Old). Fortunately defense saved the day once
again for Beaud, with double-digit scores by the Broncos, Kuechly,
Posluszny, and Reshad Jones.
The GloriousBastards finished in the red for the second straight week
and fell to last place in the standings (tied). QB Stafford started and the coach
benched Luck which proved to be a costly decision because Luck
outscored Stafford 20.5 pts to 5.25 pts. TE Gronk got the start
for Bas because he seemed recovered from his injury, but without Brady
he is not the same and he only caught one short pass in a shutout
loss against the Bills. Fortunately things are looking up with Brady
due back next week. The best contributor for Bas was RB Matt
Jones who rushed for 117 yds and a TD for a total of 17.5 pts. It
was his first decent game after a slow start of 20.5 pts combined in
the first three weeks of the season.
OldNo7's time in first place ended abruptly with last place this
week. Fortunately Old is only one point removed from first place
so remains within striking distance, but in a close race the coach
cannot afford to have blind love for any player such as star rookie
Wentz. The coach thinks Wentz can do miracles such as outscore
fellow rookie WR Fuller on his bye week. Fuller scored 24 pts
from the bench which would have been enough to beat both Bas and Beaud
and therefore retain first place in the standings. OldNo7 should
slow down on Jack consumption on Sundays and submit thoughful lineups if the team wants to compete
with traditional PQBFL powerhouses Dec, Beaud, and Wax who have won 15
of the 19 years of PQBFL existence. To be fair, Old was not
helped this week by Newton's mid game injury after scoring 15 pts. However
Old finished 14 pts behind Bas so it is unclear whether this injury had
any impact on Old finishing last. Old got weak games from Forte
(3.5 pts), ODB (4 pts) and Gostkowski (-1pt) who all sunk Old along
with the coach himself.
