Week #2

The Decepticons bounced back from a difficult week #1 with a close win in week #2, edging OldNo7 by less than 3 pts.  Similar to the BeaudoinBrothers last week, Dec did so without any strong contributors, the top scores coming from Mariota (17.5 pts) and Ju Jones (17.25 pts) which were not even 2 pts above their projected score for the week.  However Dec got solid performances from everywhere in the lineup except DB Graham which sucked again with only 4 pts.  College QB Mahomes was one who stood out with 13.5 pts on the back of a 6-TD game for Texas Tech.  DeAngelo Williams was drafted with only weeks #1-3 and he continued to do his job with 16 pts this week.  He will soon be relegated to backup status but at least he lifted Dec ahead of Old because other RBs on Dec's roster did not do as well.

OldNo7 took first place overall in the standings after two weeks with a second place.  One has to wonder if OldNo7 has ever been in first place in the standings, whether early or late in any season since the team joined the PQBFL in 2000.  From memory this has never happened and Old's fans are currently going nuts and the activity at the ticket office is unprecedented.  Franchise player Newton destroyed the 49ers defense with 36.75 pts and Forte proved he is not a finished old man yet with 3 TDs against the Bills on TNF.  During that same TNF game, LB P Brown had a big game with 19 pts and Old was in good shape to win the week after a strong Thursday.  However the coach made bad choices at DB and DL for the starting lineup which cost the win.

The Admirals came out on top of a tight pack from 3rd to 6th place with 139.75 pts, only 7.25 pts in front of Beaud in 6th place.  Adm should consider themselves very lucky to not having lost anything in the standings despite starting injured Jamaal Charles.  Apart from the long TD by Greg Olsen and his 19 pts this week, Adm did not do much this week on offense.  However the Panthers defense and Von Miller were clutch with 23.5 pts each to cover up for the lack of production by Clinton-Dix (3 pts) and the loss of Ansah to injury during his game before he could score a single point.

The GloriousBastards finished in the middle of the pack this week but it was good enough to keep the team in 2nd place overall in the standings.  Bas would have beat Adm if not for the unfortunate last minute lineup change to bench Hilton (6 pts) in favor of Moncrief (1.25 pts).  It is not clear what the coach was thinking here.  WR K Benjamin had a second straight big game, this time with 2 TDs and 7-108.  If this guy is still a bit in recovery mode because of his knee, then we can only imagine how he will perform when he is 100%.  Early indications are that he was an absolute steal in the 7th round of the draft.

FlyingElvis finished 5th this week and also fell to 5th place in the standings, but the bigger issue was Adrian Peterson's injury.  Not only FE could have easily finished 3rd if AP had not gone down early in the game, but it now looks like Peterson will be out for an extended period.  While that might be good for FE's 2017 draft spot, this is very ominous for the 2016 season given that Woodhead also got hurt and is out for the year.  FE can only hope that the Chargers will overload Melvin Gordon and that he will produce.  AJ Green was disappointing against the Steelers defense with only 3.5 pts this week.  However, Ryan Mathews saved the day on MNF with 2 short TD to edge the BeaudoinBrothers by a single point.

The BeaudoinBrothers fell flat after a strong week #1 with 6th place.  The team was in good position to finish 3rd but Jeffery simply did not deliver on MNF with 9.75 pts and he was held without the needed TD.  Cutler's injury did not help, but Jeffery should have done more regardless of the QB situation.  Arian Foster's injury very early in his game likely cost 3 rank-points to the Bros this week but one could question why the coach did not start L Murray against the porous Falcons defense.  If Beaud had started Murray, the Bros would have finished 3rd.   And what about the stunning lack of tackle AND assist from supposedly star LB Lavonte David.  What the heck was that?  Kuechly (16 pts) and the Broncos defense (21.5 pts) did well but it was a wasted effort.

Preseason favorites WaxOnWaxOff finished last by a mile with a shitty 111.5 pts and have now had a second bad performance which is very worrying to Wax's brass.  Wax is simply not getting production from the RB position with Ingram being held to 3.75 pts and Gurley to 5.75 pts.  Those two guys are supposed to lead Wax but have not done the job so far.  And what about franchise player Antonio Brown?  After an electric week #1 he seemed unstoppable and Wax had high expectations in a possible shootout with the Bengals.  However Brown showed he is human and he was held to 4-39 without a TD.  One of the few bright spots for Wax was rookie Shepard who did not score a TD but outscored ODB for the second straight game.
