OldNo7 logged their first win of the season with 193.5 pts.
This was the first time Old finished first since 2013 week #6, a wait
of more than 2 years. Cam Newton was stellar against the weak
Saints defense and scored 45 pts, lifting him up to 2nd best overall in
the PQBFL behind Brady (FE) with an average of 23.3 pts per game.
But Newton did not do it alone. Antonio Brown scored 31.75 pts
with 2 receiving TDs and one more TD on a punt return. Both Old
RBs D Martin and M Forte reached 100 yards from scrimmage and a TD
each.
The Decepticons took back their 3-pt lead in the standings by
dominating the BeaudoinBrothers and beating them by two spots. It
was all about Big Ben (38 pts) and Mariota (39 pts) this week.
Both scored 4 TDs each and had excellent yardage to boot. Dec's
WRs were adequate but a bit below their regular performance with 12.5
pts and 15.25 pts for Ju Jones and Hopkins, respectively. Defense
was not bad with Rashad Jones getting another INT and he continues to
lead all DBs by a significant margin with 13.0 pts per game vs second
best T Mathieu (Old) at 10.3 ppg.
FlyingElvis moved to just one rank-point behind 4th place Wax with
third place and taking advantage of Wax's last place. Brady was
the team's best with 30.5 pts in a losing effort and despite limited
receiving options due to injuries. RBs did not get the job done
for FE particularly Adrian Peterson only getting 24 yards from
scrimmage and no TD. FE got unexpected contribution from TE
Delanie Walker who caught 8 passes and 1 TD. Walker is
surprisingly the 3rd best TE in the PQBFL behind Gronk (Beaud) and
Eifert (Dec).
The BeaudoinBrothers could not sustain their surge to the top and
surrendered more than one rank-point to Dec for the first time since
week #4. Now three rank-points behind Dec, not having the
tie-breaker, and with Dec healthy and the Bros banged up with injuries,
the outlook is not good for Beaud. Aaron Rodgers was lucky to
score as many as 26.25 pts due to his hail mary pass for the winning
TD, otherwise Adm would have beat Beaud this week. McFadden has
been a dud since replacing Forsett in part because Romo got knocked out
shortly after McFadden was picked up. But that does not explain
two fumbles by McFadden on MNF and a lowly 3.75 pts.
The Admirals scored the most points since week #8 with 136.75 pts but
that was not enough to get out of the red for the first time since
then, which makes it five straight weeks in the red. Brees scored
28.25 pts but the Broncos crew was more important for Adm this
week. D Thomas caught 6 passes and a TD on offense, the Broncos D
held the Chargers to 3 pts, less than 300 yards, and scored a TD.
LB V Miller sacked Rivers twice and forced a fumble to finish the game
with 19.5 pts. Adm would have done better had the coach started
either D Parker (13 pts) or B Coleman (14.5 pts) instead of Agholor
(goose egg) at the rookie position, and if Lacy had not been held to a
single yard all game because he missed a curfew.
WaxOnWaxOff finished last for the 4th time this year, which is now
close to Adm's 5 last places. Wax took the lead in injury points
this week with key players out to injury everywhere in the lineup:
Luck, Hyde, L Bell, K Allen, and 2/3 LBs. The Panthers defense is
healthy and productive but this week was awful, giving up 31 pts to the
Saints. On offense, a few players had decent contributions but
nothing dominant, like 17 pts from Stafford, 12.5 pts from Ingram, and
17.5 pts from M Bryant.
