The
Decepticons are back on top after two rough weeks and won for the 5th
time in 9 weeks to extend their lead to 4 rank-points over the
BeaudoinBrothers. After missing two games to injury, Mariota's
return made a huge difference, scoring a season-high 38.5 pts against
the lowly Saints defense. This was easily a difference-making
performance, but Dec's QB, RBs, and WRs also all provided double-digit
games even if none of them were lights out. DeMarco Murray had
his best game of the year with 18.5 pts following the Eagles bye last
week.
The BeaudoinBrothers scored an adequate 157.25 pts and finished
2nd. After a disastrous week #8, Aaron Rodgers' started very slow
this week against the Panthers but bounced back in the second half and
almost got the Packers to tie the game in the last 2 minutes.
Apart from Rodgers, it was same old for Beaud. The RBs did not
provide much spark, G Bernard and J Stewart combining for only 12.5
pts. The WRs were once again quite good but not stellar, with
14.25 pts and 17.5 pts from ODB and Jeffery, respectively.
FlyingElvis beat both Old and Wax this week to jump from 5th overall to
3rd overall in the standings. Brady had a bit of a down week with
"only" 18.75 pts because the Pats ran the ball early and often.
However S Watkins picked up the slack and exploded for 24.25 pts.
The FE coach was so confident about Watkins and the Bills having a good
offensive day that FE benched the Dolphins defense for fear of the
Bills, and they scored -1 pt. FE instead started the Ravens
defense who were on bye so FE preferred to lock in a zero rather than
risk negative points, and saved a holy point.
OldNo7 came up short of beating FE this week, finishing 6 pts behind
FE. This happened despite fantastic games from Newton (34.5 pts),
L Miller (21.75 pts and 2 TDs), and Antonio Brown's jaw-dropping game
with 17-284 .
Old was hampered this week by Kelce being on bye and backup Donnell
being injured. In addition, both Old's DBs were on bye because
they happen to be on the same team (Ari). So the GM can be blamed
for that, and his inability to trade to get out of this mess. In
fact, rumors are that Old did not even respond to a trade offer earlier
this season for a DB not on bye in week #9. Old was also screwed
by the last minute scratch of Jamie Collins who was not on the injury
report during the week. Finally, Old's coach did not have the
same genious as the FE coach regarding which defense to start.
Old benched the Seahawks because they were on a bye week. However
the backup Saints scored -5.5 pts. If FE had started the Dolphins
and Old had started the Seahawks, Old would have beat FE this
week.
The Admirals avoided last place this week and inflicted some pain to
Wax. Brees had a second consecutive strong week, scoring 32.75
pts in week #9 to follow-up week #8's 55 pts. That means Brees
has scored only 2 fewer points in weeks #8-9 than in the first 7 games
combined. LeSean McCoy contributed to the Bills' feast of the
Dolphins with 17.75 pts after the team bye. He seems recovered
from his earlier injury. Adm's coach also had issues this
week. The team started J Graham who was on bye, perhaps thinking
that M Bennett would score negative points, or perhaps thinking that
MNF was not part of week #9? Whatever it is, the team left 15.75
pts on the table and that alone was the difference between 5th place
and 3rd place. The team also started a kicker on bye which cost
8.5 pts and started an injured DB which cost 8 pts. All of this
could have pushed Adm to 2nd place and could have deprived Beaud of a
precious rank-point in the hunt for Dec.
WaxOnWaxOff finished last for the second straight week and third time
this year. This team is coming apart fast, in part due to the
injury to first round pick L Bell. J Hill started instead and
scored a dismal 4.25 pts against a bad team (Browns) at home.
Hill is currently 25th RB out of 36 in the PQBFL which is awful for a
second round pick, to say the least. Keenan Allen's injury is
also affecting Wax, although backups are quite nice for Wax at
WR. Jarvis Landry scored an adequate 15.5 pts this week.
Harrison Smith could be blamed for Wax's performance this week after
scoring only 1 pt. Smith was already not having a very good
season (only one game in the double digits) but this was the worst of
all. Smith was the first DB drafted this year but he's currently
11th of 16 DBs.
