The Decepticons opened the 2015 season with a bang: 14 TDs and 200+
points. It was raining TDs left and right for Dec - only the
kicker and defense did not score. Mariota led the charge with
31.25 pts with the first step to justify his status as the first rookie
taken in the draft. Dec receivers all scored 2 TDs each: Hopkins,
Ju Jones, and Eifert. It is hard to find sore spots this week for
Dec, but if there is one, it would be RBs who despite scoring 3 TDs
combined, J Charles and D Murray only had 57 and 9 yards rushing
respectively.
The BeaudoinBrothers had a strong week but finished a distant
second. Defense was good as expected with JJ Watt getting 2
sacks, Posluzny 1 INT, and Kuechly one sack although he was knocked out
early by a concussion. The Bills defense held the Colts in
check. On offense the Bros were not bad, but as expected the RB
position was the worst of the PQBFL this week. Forsett and J-Stew
only combined for 11.25 points.
FlyingElvis reached the first half of the standings this week with
third place and 164 pts. Brady crushed the Steelers to open the
season with 30.5 pts. Witten scored the game-winning TD at the
end of SNF in addition to 8 receptions for 23 pts. He should
benefit from Dez Bryant's injury going forward. Defense was
surprisingly strong for FE this week. The Dolphins, Quinn,
Bowman, Worrilow, and Weddle all scored double digits for a total of 64
pts which was the strongest output in the PQBFL this week. FE was
held back by RBs and WRs who did not score a single TD.
OldNo7 scored a healthy 142 pts but that was not enough for the top
half of the rankings. Kelce played like a man on a mission after
being labeled Old's worst pick of the draft and scored 2 TDs in
addition to 100+ receiving yards. Antonio Brown was his normal
self with over 100 receiving yards as well and a TD. However, R
Wilson was held in check by the Rams defense and only had 1 TD 1
INT. CJ Anderson looked awful in the opening game as the rest of
the Broncos offense did. He ended the game with only 48 total
yards. Fortunately Forte was better this week but Old might have
a developing RB2 problem as none of the backup RBs reached double
digits.
WaxOnWaxOff started the season on the wrong foot and barely avoided
last place after dominating much of last year. No reason to panic
yet because Wax also finished next to last in 2014 but did just fine
the rest of the way. Nobody on the Wax starting squad reached 20
points and the top score came from the Panthers defense, which is never
a good sign. Luck underperformed his projection against the Bills
defense, B Cooks did not live up to preseason hype with only 4 short
receptions, and G Olsen was nowhere to be found and ended up with only
1 reception. The only bright spots were J Hill who scored 2 TDs
(but you would expect more than 63 total yards when the Bengals win big
against a bad team like the Raiders) and J Matthews with 10-102 but he
did not score.
The Admirals entered the season as underdogs and they did nothing to
change that view in week #1. Similar to Wax, their top scorer was
team defense: the Broncos. Not good. Rookie Agholor was a
huge disappointment with only 1 reception for 5 yards. Brees was
adequate but nothing special with 355 yards and only 1 TD. L
McCoy could not get going and ended with only 41 yards. But the
worst news of all is Dez Bryant getting injured and he'll be out for
several weeks. Backup WRs did nothing great this week to soften
the blow of Bryant's multi-week upcoming absence.
