The Decepticons won for the second time in five weeks and moved up to
third place in the standings. While first place remains quite
far, second place is now within reach, Dec standing 6 rank points
behind Wax. The Decepticons’ win comes with an asterisk
however, as much of Dec’s production come on the back of Matt
Cassel garbage 36.75 pts. The dude had no TD and one turnover
shortly before halftime and the Chiefs down 35-0. He scored
almost all his points when the Broncos did not give a fuck
anymore. Although Dec would not have won without this crap, Dec
finished far head 3rd place FE and 4th place JB that would have
probably finished 2nd anyway. RBs and WRs all had solid
production between 15 pts and 21.25 pts.
The Dugongs are back on the winning side with a second place this
week. This was the 6th time in 7 weeks that Dug places top
2. Unlike Cassel, Kyle Orton scored his points when it mattered
and respectfully laid off in the second half. Orton has been a
stunning surprise for Dug this season. The QB position had
potential to be quite weak with C Palmer as the starter. Orton
was drafted in the 18th round and is currently 2nd highest player in
the PQBFL behind P Rivers. Calvin Johnson also had a good game
with 22.25 pts despite a disappointing loss in Buffalo. Note that
the receiving end of Cassel’s garbage was D Bowe with 35.25 pts
but he was benched by Dug’s coach.
FlyingElvis has come to life recently, avoiding the bottom 3 for the
5th straight week, which only Dug did in addition to FE since week
5. Brady has been the main reason for FE’s struggles all
year, but he came to life this week, lighting the Steelers up for 34.75
pts on the raod. FE’s second highest scorer this week was L
Fitz who scored 14.5 pts, once again through several receptions, but a
lack of TDs. Dez Bryant also did well in a rare Dallas win with
14 pts. He continues to lead all rookies this year and is one of
the only Cowboys players who has not quit.
JakesBlues finished fourth and dropped to 4th place in the standings
behind Dec who owns the tiebreaker. This week’s result had
to be satisfactory for JB considering that franchise player Brees was
on bye. JB finished relatively far ahead of Wax in 5th place and
far behind FE so there was no key lineup decision. However note
that starting kicker Janikowski might not have been the best move since
he was on bye. Yes he’s the top kicker in the league, but
he cannot kick FGs from his living room. Patrick Willis scored 17
pts – his best game of the season. He has been an expensive
disappointment as he ranks only 9th best LB.
WaxOnWaxOff was very lucky to escape with 5th place as the team only
finished 6 pts in front of 8th place Spitoons. It could have
easily been a disastrous week for Wax. Wax got just enough from
Flacco (20 pts), MJD (20.25 pts), and backup Fasano (15.25 pts) who is
subbing for injured D Clark. This made up for the -1 scored by
the Cards defense at home against the sorry Seahawks offense. It
was a mistake by the coach not to start the Eagles defense which
handled the Skins on MNF and scored 10 pts. Wax’s WRs also
had an off game with only 11.5 pts for R Wayne and T Owens
combined.
The BeaudoinBrothers were able to beat UJ by a thin margin but could
not top Wax and finished 6th. Aaron Rodgers is the only good
player drafted by Beaud before the 22nd round in his year’s
horrible draft from Beaud, and Rodgers’ bye week meant that
McNabb started and did not do the job with 3 turnovers and a fumble not
lost. Newly acquired M Turner was useless as the Falcons threw
the ball and he scored 3.25 pts, but DeSean Jackson scored a long TD on
MNF. The BeaudoinBrothers have never finished lower than 3rd
place in the standings but this might be the year. Beaud fell to
6 rank-points behind Dec and JB.
UncleJack had an extra-point feast on MNF with Akers but needed another
one to beat Beaud, and needed a FG to beat Wax. Instead UJ could
only find comfort in the fact that they beat Spi and moved to 8
rank-points behind Spi in the standings. It remains a tall order
for UJ to avoid last place this season. P Manning had another off
game with 6 pts and UJ’s RBs were dreadful: 79 yards from
scrimmage total for Benson and Jacobs, no TD, and one fumble
lost. To make matters worse, H Ward was knocked out of the game
by P Chung before he could catch on pass. UJ should have beat
both Beaud and Wax if not for this untimely injury. UJ got most
of its production from WR Roddy White who beat the Ravens by himself
with 12 receptions and 2 TDs.
The Spitoons finished in the bottom 3 for the fifth straight
week. The Spitoons were forced to start an injured WR because the
team did not have any available besides Welker. The
Steelers’ performance vs the Patriots did not help either: 33 pts
allowed, 453 yards allowed, no turnover, no sack. Roethlisberger
was the only decent guy for Spi this week with 28.75 pts.
Spi’s RBs were shit again, Forte 6.5 pts and Shonn Greene 7.75
pts.
OldNo7 made the bonehead move of the year by not starting Matt Ryan on
Thursday night and being stuck with Tarvaris Jackson as the starter (I
thought he was playing in a garage league by now). Because Ryan
scored 29.75 pts on the Ravens, this single mistake was the difference
between 5th place and 9th place for Old. Old also started Brandon
Jackson (bye) instead of Felix Jones (19.25 pts) or Hightower (11
pts). With F Jones and M Ryan, Old would have finished in 3rd
place. Old also started Randy Moss but he’s not getting the
job done in Ten either – he only caught one pass. Old
dropped behind FE in the standings.
