The Dugongs extended their white-hot streak to 4 wins in 5 weeks by once again blowing the competition away.  The Dugongs became the first team to get 4 wins and one second place (one short of perfection) in 5 weeks since the BeaudoinBrothers did it in 2006.  Dug took a 5 rank-point lead in the standings and are crushing everybody in strength of starters.  The Dugongs are cruising at the mid point of the season and nothing seems to stop them.  Even hobbled A Gates continues to put up points on the board, scoring another 19 pts this week.  Everything is going so right for Dug, that regular starting kicker Tynes is on a bye week, and the backup goes off with 5 FGs.  This is similar to last week when chump Lee Evans had to start in Baltimore because Calvin Johnson was on bye, and the dud scored 3 TDs in what will be his only appearance in Dug’s starting lineup all year.  The very same Calvin Johnson scored 3 TDs on his own this week, to provide the needed boost for Dug.

The Decepticons recovered from last week’s 8th place by taking 2nd this week.  In doing so, Dec jumped to 3rd place in the standings and moved to 4 rank points away from Wax in 2nd.  With ass hole Cutler on bye, Dec got improved production at QB from Cassel with 11 pts.  That’s not a great score, but it’s better than the negative scores Cutler put up twice in the last few weeks (and average 1.2 pt per game since week 4).  Speaking of ass holes, the Cowboys have plenty of them, and defense is no exception.  They scored 1.5 pt for Dec this week, but that was still better than the Texans defense benched by Dec which scored 1 pt.  Dec got solid, but not great, production from all RBs and WRs, including rookie WR Mike Williams.  All of them scored between 12 and 20 pts this week.  On defense, Timmons continues to be an animal, scoring 13 more points this week.  He’s the best defensive player in the league so far this year.

FlyingElvis acquired Larry Fitzgerald in a trade and it immediately paid off.  Fitz scored 2 TDs and 20.5 pts.  That was much better than any other benched WR like Driver (0 pt) and Berrian (2.75 pts).  Even Sims-Walker felt competition at WR and finally did something, scoring 21.5 pts this week to help FE to 3rd place.  Mendenhall was held in check most of the game, but at least scored on a 38-yard play to end up with 14 pts.  Brady was once again adequate but not great with 15.75 pts, which is about his season average.  That ranks only 10th best QB in the league.  More was expected from the franchise player.

JakesBlues have slowed down since week 5, but can still compete, finishing 4th this week.  The team’s top scorer was Arian Foster with 19.75 pts.  It is shocking that besides a couple of QBs, he’s the top scoring player in the PQBFL, beating all other RBs and WRs.  Not bad for a 4th round pick.  The other starting RB was Forsett who scored 2.75 pts in Rice’s absence.  He was not as much of a success as Foster in terms of newly emerging RBs.  Rookie Stafford scored 17.25 pts against the Panthers.  He’s been one of the most valuable players for JB this season.  Along with Foster, Freeney capped off a productive MNF for JB by sacking Schaub twice.

OldNo7 finished in the middle of the pack this week with 111.75 pts, coming out on top of a very close pack from 5th to 9th (only 13.5 pts separating 5 teams).  Rivers and Posluszny did the work themselves, scoring 21.25 pts and 22 pts, respectively.  Both rank 2nd best at their position at the mid point of the season.  Old struggled at RB and WR this week.  S Jackson only scored 5.25 pts against a below-average team (Panthers), while Felix Jones is just overrated (3 pts this week, 31st RB this year).  At WR what can we say about WR Randy Moss.  If Dec’s coach calls Cutler an asshole, then a new word must be invented for R Moss.  Moss barely cracks the top 30 WR in the PQBFL and has now been released.  Let’s see what he can do when his QB is not Brady, Favre, or Culpepper.  Oh wait, we already know that from his Raiders days.

The BeaudoinBrothers struggled with 6th place this week.  Newly acquired M Turner was on bye, and after trading L Fitz the team had to start Ochocinco who only scored 4.5 pts.  Backup RB J Stewart was expected to do something with DeAngelo Williams out to injury and playing the Rams.  The loser only scored 3 pts and it was not because of turnovers.  Wow.  Aaron Rodgers was playing the Jets defense and was held to 5.75 pts, by far his season low.  The Chargers defense was awful with -2.5 pts: no turnover, no sack, no nothing, and 370 yards allowed.  Their special team is also awful as they had another kick blocked against them.  The only production came from unusual players: rookie Eric Berry 15 pts, and LB Laurinaitis finally did something with 17 pts.

WaxOnWaxOff got their first major hiccup since week #3 with a 7th place finish.  Although Wax has been the team the least hit by injuries so far, this is catching up with them.  Romo, Addai, and Dallas Clark all recently got injured so Wax will not end 9th in injury points.  These injuries came at the same time as bye weeks to Flacco, Bradshaw, and Celek, so Wax was hampered this week.  Backups did not do too well: Henne 3.5 pts, Thomas Jones 6.75 pts, and Fasano 4.75 pts.  In addition, Ray Lewis was on bye and Wax started an extra DB.  Leon Hall and Revis only scored 2 pts and 3
pts.

UncleJack went back towards the bottom this week with an 8th place, and the outperformance of FE and Old means UJ is left in last place, 8 rank points behind 8th place already.  UJ has finished in the bottom 2 five times in eight weeks.  P Manning scored 20 pts on MNF and leads the PQBFL with 21.6 pts per game, but UJ has nobody else.  Even the coach was snoozing and started B Jacobs (bye week), but the backup Lynch only scored 1.5 pts so there was no consequence.  TE Zach Miller has been a rare bright spot for UJ (5th best TE in the league) but he had an off week, only catching one short pass.

After saying in this summary for weeks that the Spitoons were playing over their head, reality has set in and Spi finished in the bottom 3 for three straight weeks and dropped into a 3-way tie in 6th-7th-8th place in the standings.  Just three weeks ago, Spi was only 3 ranks points away from first place.  Now the league title is a near impossibility, Spi being 20 rank points back and is almost closer to last than 5th place.  Forte has scored a lot of fluke TDs for Spi this year, but he was on bye this week so Spi was forced to start two RBs who are not even primary ball carriers on their NFL team: Shonn Green and Ricky Williams.  If it was not for Ricky’s short TD, they would not have scored a combined 11.5 pts.  At WR, Spi only drafted 4 guys and is paying the price.  Two are injured, Welker is not a model of health, so that only leaves Colston.  Welker only scored 4 pts this week.  On defense the Steelers came back to earth against the Saints and scored 6.5 pts.  After a hot start, the Steelers have only averaged 7.3 pts since week 4.
