2010 Week #5
The Dugongs won for the second straight week and moved up to 3rd in the standings, only 3 rank points behind Wax. Although week 5 was not a crushing win like last week, Dug got several double-digit contributions while nobody scored less than 4.75 pts. The Dugongs’ defense was solid with 18 pts from the Bears and 17.5 pts from Umenyiora. Osi had started the season slow, notably scoring only 1 pt in weeks 2-3 combined, but has scored 37.5 pts in the last two weeks total, moving him back to DL2 in the leaders so far. So question marks are emerging for Dug however due to first round pick Ryan Mathews having health problems and Tolbert being the starter in San Diego, while CJ Spiller cannot do anything with the miserable Bills team. Even this week the Bills scored 26 pts but Spiller only got 5 carries. He’s clearly backup to Fred Jackson.
OldNo7 rebounded from a bad MNF last week with a
season-high second place. Rivers was the top scorer with 25.25
pts. So far, Rivers is the PQBFL’s top scorer despite not
having Vincent Jackson. Let’s remember FlyingElvis arguing
with the BeaudoinBrothers a few years ago when Rivers was on the BB
team that apparently Rivers would never be an above average QB in the
NFL. Ah! For Old this week, Crabtree had a rare good game
despite the SF loss with 19.25 pts. Note also the good
contribution of college QB from Baylor Robert Griffin who scored 9.75
pts and currently ranks 2nd best college player.
The Decepticons finished third after two tough
rough weeks 3-4. Cutler’s injury hurts Dec, but Kolb was
adequate with 11.5 pts. Frank Gore disappointed with only 5 pts
notably due to two fumbles lost, but Miles Austin picked up the slack
with a huge 26.5 pt game. He has been red hot this season,
scoring at least 18 pts every week except a dud in week 3. Rookie
Mike Williams has been one of the best surprises on Dec’s roster
this season. Williams scored another TD and ranks 2nd best rookie
in the league. Dec could have won this week if the Cowboys
defense had showed up instead of allowing 34 pts at home to the
Titans. This has been a problem for Dec this year. Both Dec
defenses rank 15th and 18th out of 18 defenses.
The Spitoons finished in the middle of a tight
pack, beating Wax by 0.5 pt but ending 1.25 pt behind Dec. This
team continues to overachieve with middle of the road players having
good games. Forte scored another long TD and ranks 4th best RB in
the league. Malcom Floyd (who?) scored while Welker was on bye
and put 26.5 pts in the bank for Spi. Floyd ranks 6th best WR in
the PQBFL. Amazing. Spi could have easily won the week if
it was not for the untimely injury to TE Finley early in the game and
before catching a pass. Although back TE Shiancoe is ok, this
might hurt Spi significantly.
WaxOnWaxOff came up short with a 5th place despite
being only 11.75 pts away from first place. Romo had a good game
with 24.25 pts, but cost his team and Wax by throwing 3 INTs. MJD
is still waiting to take off. He scored only 7.75 pts this week
against a weak Bills team. Dallas Clark had a rare off game with
only 4 pts as the Colts were held in check at home by the Chiefs, for
the most part.
The BeaudoinBrothers can consider themselves lucky
to come up with 6th place this week, finishing far behind the top 5
teams. It could have been worse for Beaud who only scored 119
pts, a second bad week in a row. Injuries and incompetence at RB
are clearly hurting the team. Chris Johnson is fine and scored 20
pts, but Reggie Bush + Moreno missed this week due to injury, and Chris
Wells + Jonathan Stewart are monumental flops. Wells whined to
his coach last week that he was not getting the ball enough. He
finally did this week. Result: 20 rushes, 35 yards. Might
as well do 20 QB sneaks.
All JB had to do on MNF to beat Beaud was for the
Vikings defense to score 4.25 pts or better against the average Jets
offense. They failed, allowing 22 pts, over 300 total yards, and
causing no turnover. JB’s coach screwed up however.
Why on earth would the team start 2 DLs while the team has 3 healthy
LBs and 2 healthy DBs? Because the Saints play the Cards and Will
Smith is supposed to sack a rookie QB? Well maybe, but Will Smith
missed the game to injury so that’s not going to happen.
Rookie Bradford also killed JB, scoring only 1 pt against the Lions
defense. That’s what rookies do I guess.
UJ finished 8th in a moral victory, beating FE by
one spot and moving to 2 rank points behind FE in the standings.
P Manning was surprisingly quiet with 3.75 pts. Roddy White is
the only one who did anything, with 18 pts this week. He ranks
3rd best WR in the league. Other than that, UJ had 9 starters
with 6.5 pts or less. That won’t bring the team
anywhere. The good news is that college RB MiQuale Lewis scored
1.25 pt this week, which is pretty awesome for him, it was very close
to his season high of 2.5 pts, and almost three times more than
Lewis’ combined week 3-4 score of 0.5 pt.
FlyingElvis finished in the cellar after two
decent weeks in 3-4. FE scored a league-low 82.25 pts.
Since FE owns the entire Patriots’ team, when the Pats are on
bye, things will get rough. Backups crapped the bed. Other
than the Falcons scoring 17.5 pts, and FE’s RBs LT+Turner being
average with 19.25 pts total, the rest of FE’s team humiliated
themselves. We could list who did what, but who cares? The
fact that LB Andre Carter only scored one point is irrelevant. Is
this not what we would expect anyway from this dude. Why was he
even drafted? Speaking of guys that do not belong in the PQBFL,
note that WRs Berrian and Aromashodu have scored a total of 16 pts this
year. FlyingElvis would get more out of them if they at least
scored injury points, but they are unfortunately healthy.
