The BeaudoinBrothers crushed the competition by almost 40 pts this week and shocked the Spitoons by stealing the PQBFL championship away from them in the final week .  The BeaudoinBrothers were an unlikely 15 to 1 underdog to win the league but pulled off the most stunning come back in league history.  Revenge was sweet for Beaud who suffered a similar crash in 2006 at the hands of the Spitoons when Beaud's streak of 64 straight weeks without finishing last ended abruptly in week 16 and not recovering in week 17.  In the otherwise low scoring week, the BeaudoinBrothers kept on pounding it for TD after TD.  McNabb scored 3 TDs while keeping the ball to himself and away from Westbrook.  LT had a disappointing year, but he scored 3 times to destroy the Broncos and was within 0.5 pt of his best game of the season.  M Turner rushed for over 200 yds and a score to send the Falcons in the playoffs.  The only concern there is his heavy use during the 2008 season which brings a question mark about his durability for the 2009 season.  At WR L Fitzgerald greatly benefited from A Boldin's absence in week 17.  He caught 2 TDs this week and most expected him to rest in the second half because the Cards were playing for nothing.  Fitz's average this year in the 4 games Boldin missed due to injury was 18.4 pts compared to 13.6 pts when Boldin is in the lineup.  Rookie Slaton also added a TD for a total of 10 TDs this week for Beaud.  The BeaudoinBrothers have been relatively spared by injuries this season, finishing 8th in injury points compared to 2nd for Spi.

The Decepticons finished the season with a 2nd place and remained (as expected) in 5th place in the standings.  This team has greatly underperformed .  They ranked 2nd in the preason based on projected strength of starters and based on Vegas odds, and the team never took off despite having the fewest injuries in the league.

UncleJack finished the season well by avoiding the red in the last 4 weeks of the season.  However UJ needed more time to catch up the Dugongs.  UJ beat the Dugongs in each of the last 4 weeks but fell short by 4.5 rank-points of Dugongs in 6th place.  The problem for UJ this season  has been RBs as usual.  Plaxico Burress stunt with his gun did not help either.

WaxOnWaxOff had a chance to win the league because of Spi's struggles this week but had to beat Beaud to do so and failed miserably, getting crushed by over 50 pts.  Wax was the hottest team in the last 4 weeks and almost caught up with Spi in the standings, finishing only 2 rank-points behind.  Wax finished 3.5 rank-points behind Beaud so if the season kept on going Wax would have had a very good shot.  Wax was affected by benched (rested) players and injuries in the final week.  Wax wanted to start Pierre Thomas and M Lynch at RB but both were out so they settled on MJD against the Ravens and W Parker.  At the rookie position C Johnson was rested as the Titans had nothing to play for .  Wax heads into 2009 with a fairly good core of young players and will be a team to watch next year.

JB finished out of the red for the first time since week 11 and outscored Old by 33 pts this week.  JB ends the season in last place but were not the lowest scoring team, edging out Old in the final week.  D Brees had another big game with 32.75 pts and finished the season with a 20.1 pt per game average, the highest in the PQBFL .  He will probably be JB's franchise player.  The rest of JB's saved players will be more questionable however.  JB rostered several veterans which did not perform very well, most notably Chad Johnson and Edgerrin James.

FlyingElvis had a near impossible task of finishing first and Spi finishing last to win the PQBFL championship.  Spi almost finished last but FE could not do better than 6th place.  M Cassel had no chance in Buffalo due to the 60 mph winds.  At WR, B Marshall started the season fast but slowed down towards the end due to the emergence of E Royal (Dec).  FE finished 4th in the standings, only 7.5 rank-points behind Beaud despite losing their franchise player in the first quarter of the season and despite finishing well ahead other teams in the injury point category.  This season must be considered a major accomplishment for FE in the circumstances.

The Dugongs are the other major bust of the season besides Dec.  The Dugongs finished the season 6th in the standings, far behind Dec in 5th place, and barely in front of UJ.  The Dugongs had a very strong saved team and right before the draft they were seen as league favorites based on Vegas odds.  The draft was a disaster with the obsession of drafting rookie RBs.  M Forte turned out very well and finished top rookie in the league.  C Johnson also had a great season, but Dug traded him to Wax during the draft for Lee Evans who has been nearly useless (25th WR).  Kevin Smith finished 6th best rookie but was a waste on the Dugongs' bench since Forte was the starter.  McFadden was bothered by injuries all year and finished 15th best rookie.  The Dugongs were in the race for most of the season due to good consistency but only scored 12 rank-points in the final four weeks.

The Spitoons entered week 17 as 25 to 1 favorites and all they had to do was finish in the top 6 to be assured of the championship.  Spi had been in the top 6 for 15 of the first 16 weeks.  Even if Spi missed out on the top 6 they still had a good chance to escape with the title because Wax or Beaud still needed first or second.  Well unfortunately for Spi, it did not end well.  Week 17 was a total disaster with Beaud crushing everybody and Spitoons' players having an awful week from top to bottom.  Romo, Westbrook, Maurice Morris, and Wes Welker combined for 0 TD and 5 turnovers and a total of 6.75 pts for the four combined .  Kicker Bironas did not make a single kick (no FG no x-point) and he even missed a FG try.  Star LB James Harrison decided at the last minute not to play, resulting in a goose egg for Spi.  Spi had not scored meaningful points at the rookie position since K Rivers went down to injury, and if it was not for M Bush's surprise 28.5 pt performance, and if he instead scored his usual 0 pt, Spi's total would have been below 60 pts.  The season low of all teams was 67.25 pts by Old in week 16.  Despite "The Crash" , the Spitoons deserve major kudos for hanging in there through 16 weeks despite several key injuries at the RB and rookie position.

OldNo7 completes the 2008 season with a third straight last place and fourth last place in the last 5 weeks.  Old had a good stretch from weeks 3-5 with a 3rd place, 1st place, and 4th place, but did not do better than 5th the rest of the way.
