The Spitoons continue enjoying their underdog status despite being in first place and won week #12 despite being predicted to be last based on week 12 Vegas odds.  This allowed Spi to double their lead in first place over Beaud from 2 rank points to 4 rank points.  Spi defied logic and scored over 150 pts despite Colt McCoy being on bye, Spi still not having a rookie to use, Westbrook being banged up and scoring only 2.75 pts, and Re Bush missing yet another game due to his injury that just won't go away.  The Spitoons got unexpectedly huge production from the Ravens D which destroyed the Eagles.  The Ravens did all they could possibly do: sacks, INTs, a fumble recovery, a TD, a safety, and a blocked kick .  The return to health of Romo was a big boost for the Spitoons as well.  Romo scored 27 pts like in the good ol' days.  The Vegas odds maker finally gave in and moved Spi at the top of the board for the first time of the season after this week's games.  Now we will see if the Spitoons can handle the pressure of being favorites.

FlyingElvis sneaked into 2nd place but came very close to back-to-back wins.  FE finished in the top 3 for the third straight week, which is the first time anybody has been able to do this all year because consistency has been so hard to achieve in 2008.  This performance moves FE into third place but unfortunately FE lost ground to Spi.  M Cassel had another Bradyesque game with 35.75 pts: 4 TDs and 400+ passing yards.  DeAngelo Williams was the other good performer with a short TD and over 100 yards rushing.  On MNF, FE got a big 12.5 pt play from Colston (70 yd TD reception) which allowed FE to beat Beaud, but Colston was unable to catch another pass which cost FE first place.  FE deserves a lot of credit for hanging tough and still having a chance to win the league despite losing their franchise player in the first quarter of the season and earning over 68% more injury points than all other teams.

The BeaudoinBrothers had a strong 148 pt performance, but came up just short once again, as it has been the story of this team all year.  They score points when they are not necessary, and they come up empty when they are needed - this team does not have the killer instinct.  The BeaudoinBrothers still lead the league in total scoring but lost ground to the Spitoons.  Vilma scored 7 pts in the first half and only needed 4 tackles in the second half on MNF to secure the win for the BBs but Vilma only got one tackle in the second half.  The BeaudoinBrothers' coach can also be blamed for this painful third place because Randy Moss was benched for Hines Ward.  What the fuck was that? Ward only caught one pass against the lowly Bengals while Moss scored 3 TDs against the Dolphins.  This mistake only cost the team 30+ points.  On the bright side, M Turner had his first top notch game against a strong defense this season.  He scored 4 TDs against the Panthers and he took over the first spot of the RB standings.

The Dugongs came out on top of a tight pack in 4th-6th place to keep their head above water.  While Beaud has done the least with the most points, the Dugongs have done the most with the fewest points.  They have scored over 100 total pts less than Beaud this year but they remain well within striking distance from 2nd place (only 3 rank-points).  And if Spi stumbles, the Dugongs are still in a position to capitalize.  They simply need to do better than middle of the pack.  Dug has finished between 2nd and 6th in each of the last seven weeks which is not enough.  In week 12, the Dugongs had a week to the season's image.  M Forte and A Rodgers led the way with 23 pts and 21.25 pts, while the rest of the roster left to be desired with so-so performances by RBs (14.5 pts total) and WRs (15.5 pts total).  At TE, T Sheffler has significantly slowed down.  He scored 1.5 pt this week and he dropped to 12th best TE.

WaxOnWaxOff finished 5th and dropped to 10 rank-points behind Spi in the standings.  Wax needs a first place finish real bad, something the team has not done since week #6.  T Owens scored 25.5 pts in a big win over the 49ers and P Rivers was decent with 19.75 pts.  Unfortunately, rookie C Johnson had a head-scratching game with only 2 pts against the Jets at home.   This leaves some doubts about how dominant the Titans really are.  On defense, Wax was very porous this week.  Mario Williams, Ray Lewis, Ad Wilson, and Darrelle Revis combined for only 20.5 pts.  The Eagles D did absolutely nothing other than a TD on a kickoff return.  Wax is very close from being knocked out of the race and needs help from their defense immediately.

OldNo7 had a good week with 130.5 pts which was the team's second highest score of the second after their week 4 win.  Unfortunately that was not enough and Old finished 6th.  Old continued to alternate E Manning and Favre brilliantly, this time going with Manning who scored 25 pts and benching Favre who scored 14.25 pts.  At WR Boldin did the same as usual - scoring 20 pts.  On defense the Bears bounced back from their negative score last week with 4 INTs, 5 sacks, and only 3 pts allowed this week.  Old still has major health problems at RB but at least welcomed the return of Cadillac Williams.  The Cadillac was very rusty however and scored 2.25 pts.  Old will take anything at this point however.  In a week where Old finished barely behind Wax and Dug, Old paid a heavy price for not having an active college player this week.  Due to poor draft management, Old drafted two guys on bye in week 12.

JB had their highest score since week 4 with 123.25 pts but it was not worth better than 7th place.  JB sunked to almost 10 rank-points behind Old and are getting closer and closer to having the assurance of a last place. JB has been beat by Old in each of the last 4 weeks.  The 2009 franchise player D Brees scored 38.75 pts on MNF but JB was so far behind the competition that it was pointless.  JB also had a big enough lead over UJ that those points were not necessary.  This huge game allowed Brees to steal the league's top scoring position away from Romo.  Nobody else on JB's starting roster scored double-digits except for a rare big game from college QB Pat White.  It was White's first double-digit game and he moved to the 6th spot of the college rankings.

After six straight good weeks, UJ finished 8th and missed a good opportunity to move closer to Wax.  Playing without a college player did not help this week.  Fletcher was on bye and Love has been out due to an injury for several weeks.  P Manning was average (by his standards) with 16.5 pts.  WR Calvin Johnson got his 6th double-digit game in the last 7 weeks and moved up to 4th best WR in the league (3rd if we ignore N Burleson who only played one game).  He has been a very nice surprise this season .  The Steelers defense did well against the Bengals on Thursday, but UJ was expecting more than just one INT and one sack.  During that game, Ike Taylor was limited to 5 pts.  On a positive note, rookie D Keller has done quite well recently - he has averaged over 12 pts per game in the last three weeks.

The big story of week 12 was the slapping that previously league-favorites Dec suffered.  After winning back-to-back weeks (9-10), Dec finished 7th in week 11 and dead last by far this week.  Dec only scored 82 pts - one of the lowest scores of the season and has been virtually ousted from the race by being completely destroyed by Spi, FE, and Beaud.  Dec is now 11.5 rank-points behind first place.  Nobody has ever surmounted such a deficit in the history of the league, and in addition has 5 teams to beat, not just one.  Dec crashed to 6th place overall, getting passed by three teams just this week (Dug, FE, Wax).  Dec will most likely win the award of most disappointing and most underachieving team this season after being among the league favorites all year.  Jay Cutler did well for most of the year, but he played like a total ass at home against the Raiders - the Raiders!  Cutler did not throw for a TD, barely had 200 passing yards, and had an INT and a fumble lost.  His rookie-buddy E Royal was also horrible with only 2 short receptions and a busted reverse play.  The first WR taken in the draft Reggie Wayne scored 3.5 pts against the Chargers.  What was that?  Wayne used to be very consistent but it's already his third game of less than 4.5 pts in the last six weeks.  To make matters worse, B Jacobs was supposed to play this week after being listed as probable on the injury report.  It came as stunning news when we heard that Jacobs would not play.  Meanwhile, T Jones got benched and scored 15.75 pts against the Titans.  On defense Dec was awful with only 16 pts from the four starters.  Finally, Ronnie Brown has bombed since being acquired.  Brown was limited to 3.75 pts and the Wildcat formation did not work twice against the Pats.  Although we have to mention that McNabb who was traded in return for Brown has not been better.
