The Dugongs won for the fourth time this season and third time in the last six weeks and clinched the second position in the standings in front of FE.   The Dugongs have been the best team in the league since week #7, outscoring the BBs 66 rank-points to 59 rank-points.  However, their season start was too weak to overcome and the BBs were too consistent for the first 14 weeks.  RB Maroney got a rare start this week and finally got a decent game with 21 pts.  He ranks 22nd best RB this year so he's been a big disappointment as a first round pick.  DL Jason Allen was the second best on Dug's team with 20 pts.  Allen scored another offensive TD and crushed all other DLs in the league with a 12.2 pt per game average in front of Kerney (UJ) with 9.9 pts.  Allen has been so dominant that he even outscored all other LBs and DBs in the league, which is quite an accomplishment because DLs tend to score less than LBs and DBs.   Randy Moss and Frank Gore scored 18.5 pts and 18 pts to round things off for Dug.

UncleJack fell short of first place by only 0.5 pt this week.  This was the third second place for UJ in the last four weeks.  During that span, UJ has been a top team, scoring 25 rank-points compared to 26 for Dug and 24 for Beaud.   This week's result allowed UJ to leap over Wax in 6th place in the standings and UJ now leads by 4 rank-points which is a relatively comfortable lead with only one week left.  UJ also moved to within 3 rank-points of Old in 5th place and still has a shot to beat Old although UJ would probably not have the tie-breaker, having scored about 90 fewer total points than Old.  Franchise player P Manning was the team leader this week with 26.25 pts.  C Portis followed with 22.75 pts in a key game against the Vikings.  TE Dallas Clark has benefited from M Harrison's (Spi) injury this season.  Clark scored two more TDs this week and scored 20.75 pts.  He will finish the season as a top 5 TE.

FlyingElvis finished third this week, the team's best ranking since week #11 but by failing to beat Dug, FE fell out of contention for second place.  FE did secure third place however by beating the Decepticons by three ranks.  T Brady was the team highest scorer but failed to top 20 pts once again.  Brady threw for three TDs, but also threw 2 INTs and fumbled once against the lowly Dolphins.  The FE coach was quoted as saying the Dolphins were "not that bad because 6 of their losses were by 3 pts or less".  Well if we exclude the close losses, let's exclude the OT win as well, and that still leaves them as an 0-8 team.  Yeah not that bad!  After a rough season start and being blasted by the FE coach, MJD has done much better since and scored 17.5 pts this week.  He currently ranks 13th best RB.  Other good contributors this week were rookie M Lynch with 14.25 pts and LB Urlacher with 21 pts.  This was Urlacher's second straight week with exactly 21 pts.  This week he did most of his damage by returning an INT for 85 yds.

OldNo7 shook off two bad weeks (#14-15) by finishing fourth and gained some ground on Dec but is now threatened by UJ in the standings.  Old's RBs and receivers did most of the work this week.  S-Jax and MB3 scored 13.75 pts and 14.5 pts, while WRs R Wayne and B Edwards scored about 20 pts each.  Rookie D Bowe will graduate to WR next year and will complete a nice trio of WRs to cut.  Bowe scored 19.75 pts this week and ranks 4th best rookie, behind 2 RBs and 1 LB.  Old could have easily finished in first place if the coach had started the Bears defense at home against the Packers instead of the Chiefs defense.  The Bears D crushed the Packers and scored 2 TDs and 28 pts compared to only 5.5 pts for the Chiefs D.  As the 5th best defense in the league, the Bears have been a mild disappointment this season and did not perform at a level high enough to justify their draft status (4th round pick).

The BeaudoinBrothers struggled to a second straight 5th place but that was enough to clinch the PQBFL title .  The BeaudoinBrothers were never very dominant at any time of the year, often winning by relatively tight margins, but only finished in the bottom half once in the first 14 weeks, while it happened 5 times to the Dugongs in the first 8 weeks.  The BB top performers were rarely the same every week, with TJ Housh doing well early in the year, LT having more up weeks than down weeks, Witten taking over Gates late in the season, and rookie Greenway having a good end of year while T Holt slowed down with the injury issues on the Rams team.  This week the BBs used Roethlisberger at QB and that turned out to be a great decision.  Roeth scored 28.25 pts with Romo on the bench with 12.5 pts.  The Jaguars defense had a solid performance of 14.5 pts against the Raiders, and it would have been even better if not for the meaningless TD at the end of the game.  Rookie C Greenway scored 13.5 pts and had a very satisfying season, ranking 7th best rookie even in front of a big name like Calvin Johnson (Wax) in 8th by a full point per game.  As claimed by the BeaudoinBrothers' GM during the draft, Greenway was a huge bargain as a 20th round pick.

The Decepticons had some hope of beating FE in third place of the standings but those hopes vanished with a 6th place this week.  The biggest mistake was benching B Jacobs (25.5 pts) in favor of McGahee (0.75 pt).  Dec did make the gutsy call of giving a rare start to Fred Taylor which turned out well however (17.25 pts).  WR A Johnson had another good day at the office with 15.5 pts.  He ranks 2nd best WR in the league on a point per game basis and his 7 games missed to injury did hurt Dec's team significantly earlier in the season.  Rookie LB Willis had a monster game with 12 tackles, 8 assists, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 pass defended and 1 QB hit for a total of 31.5 pts .  Willis was expected to be a good rookie, but he performed way beyond expectations as the 2nd best rookie and an average of 12.7 pts per game, which is more than any other defensive player in the entire PQBFL - and he's a rookie .  He will most likely be the defensive cut player on Dec's team.  Dec had an off week mainly due to the Saints - D Brees and Colston only combined for 10.75 pts.  DB Winfield's injury did not help either, although the Dec GM knew about Winfield's injury issue before the trade deadline and refused to act.

WaxOnWaxOff finished in the red for the first time since week #10 with a 7th place and got passed by UJ in the standings.  Wax will need a major surprise to jump back over UJ.  As bad as 7th place sounds, if Wax scored only 21.5 more pts this week, that would have been enough for first place.  Wax was not outscored very much and several players had decent games.  Bulger threw for 3 TDs and scored 19.75 pts.  Rhodes benefited from Fargas' injury to run for over 100 yds and got 10.25 pts.  Steve Smith got only his second game over 20 pts since Delhomme got injured in week #3.  The rest of Wax's lineup left to be desired however.  The Vikings defense, one of the few bright spots for Wax this season, played a horrible game on MNF against the Skins and might have cost them a place in the playoffs.  The Vikings allowed 30 pts and 367 yds without creating a turnover.  Heath Miller and Calvin Johnson did not do much either, only catching 1 and 2 passes, respectively.

The Spitoons got crushed by everybody else with a fourth last place in the last five weeks.  This was the 7th last place in 16 weeks for Spi.    They are going to finish last by far in the standings and the 2006 champions who banked on a strong 2007 with veterans are poised to have an awful saved team in 2008.  S Alexander came back to life this week with 13.25 pts.  However his 2008 value remains pretty low.  Eli Manning is one of the most overrated QBs in the NFL and he continues to suck donkey dick.  It is unbelievable that the Giants won their game despite Manning throwing for only 111 yds, 2 INTs, no TD, and a total of 5 fumbles (2 lost).  The Spitoons put a lot of stock on the Ravens in 2007 but that failed miserably.  The Ravens D only scored 6 pts against the Seahawks and they rank 11th out of 17 defenses this year.  Stover did not even get the chance to kick a single x-pt and he was blanked out.  Bart Scott is not a very good LB (24th out of 27) and this week was no exception with 3.5 pts.  Even a reliable starter for Spi like Galloway only caught a pass for the Bucs this week.
