Weekly Summary Provided by FlyingElvis

The Beaudoin Bros gained what may have been the luckiest win in the history of the PQBFL with 134.25 points in a very low scoring week. BBs were fortunate because Flying Elvis needed only an average night on Monday night from TO and Marshawn Lynch to take the week, but both bit the big one allowing the BBs in from the back door. This week’s star player for BBs was Antonio Gates who busted out for 17.5 pts from the TE position . Surprisingly this was not even their best TE, as Jason Witten also had a big game in spite of the fact that Tony Homo was throwing to him. BBs are big Chargers fans, and would have been well advised to have also started Philip Rivers. Nevertheless, BBs managed to rack up just enough points to pull out the win.

Flying Elvis took a very disappointing 2nd for the team . Terrell Owens put up a big turd 4.25 points, and Marshawn Lynch also sucked in gaining only 8 points. A measly one more point from either of these players would have given Elvis sole possession of 1st this week, and ½ point would have had them in a 1st place tie. But no. The other costly mistake made by FE was failing to realize that Joseph Addai’s condition was such that he wouldn’t play, and of course this would be the week that Maurice Jones-Drew breaks out. FE should have known better than to pick a player with a hyphenated last name. Never again. Elvis is looking like a genius though in his choice of franchising Tom Brady instead of Larry Johnson. Things would be so much worse for Elvis if this move had not been made, and indeed he could be the doormat of the league without his MVP so far.

Dugongs snuck out 3rd place over Old No.7, in spite of horrific production from the QB position. Matt Hasselbeck put up a paltry .75 points, and amazingly he was Dugongs best option at the position! OUCH!  The team’s RBs have also been hugely disappointing, especially Larry Johnson. The #1 overall pick is averaging, incredibly, only 6.2 per game this year. Another very high pick at RB who has disappointed is Frank Gore. On paper this RB tandem appeared to be one of the best to start the season but after week 5 they are not nearly what was expected. A thin area of Dugongs was exposed in that he had no starting TE this weekend. On defense Dugongs got good production, especially from Will Witherspoon, while Colt Brennan had an unusually low number for the college players.

Old No.7 slipped to 4th behind Dugongs. Old suffered with the bye week, as he was not able to start Carson Palmer. The biggest gaffe made by Old was not starting Lance Briggs, who had a monster week getting 16 tackles. This was surprising given that Briggs is one of the top LBs in the league. Old was another team without a particularly good week from his QB or RB positions. Steven Jackson has been a huge disappointment due to injury, and Reggie Bush is now going to benefit from Deuce being hurt, but with the Saints sucking wind it doesn’t look like he will get off the dime soon. At WR Old is strong though a bit thin with only 4 receivers total. However Donte Stallworth may have broken out this week so could be a solid #3 for him. Old has to feel pretty bad about some of his decisions though, as he left points on the board at TE, K, D and Rookie. Andre Woodson had a surprisingly bad game for Kentucky in their loss as well.

WaxOnWaxOff finished in 5th this week, distantly behind Old No.7. Another incredibly poor QB performance here, gaining only 4.25 points from Matt Schaub. Wax is very thin at this position. Marc Bulger is looking frail and Jake Delhomme is out. Wax needs to hope Bulger gets healthy and turns it around or it could be a long season from this position. At RB, Wax basically had no other options than the players he started, namely Julius Jones and Sammy Morris.  Luckily for him, Sammy Morris has become the starting RB for NE and is doing a decent job. Wax’s big star of the week was Ben Watson who became Brady’s favorite target this week. Big Ben scored 3 TDs and 23.75 points . Wax did a good job of picking his starters with a 92.1% efficiency.

6th place went to Spitoons who left 23 points on the board at QB. Kitna had been having a good season until this weekend and Eli Manning had a good week, and this is what cost Spi a better finish . Add to the poor decision of benching Eli the fact that Spit had virtually no options at RB spells a bad week for Spitoons. On a happier note, Larry Fitzgerald had a good week getting 21.75 points. The Ravens D had a good week with 13.5 and on defense Spi had a good week getting 36 points.

Decepticons avoided a last place finish thanks mostly to the Patriots D this week. They racked up 16 points with 3 interceptions and a fumble recovery for a TD. And let’s talk about that TD for a second. It was a 15 yard TD run on the last play of the game when the point spread was 16.5, and the Pats were up by 10 at the time. The writer benefited from this particular lucky incident! :o)   Across the board this team was mediocre at best. Cooley had a decent game at TE, and Patrick Willis got good production as a rookie. At QB is where Dec really could have made some noise if he had started Jason Campbell, but this is a bit far fetched so we will cut him a break. Drew Brees has totally bit all year.

Wiping up the rear this week, literally, is Uncle Jack with a paltry 85.75 points. Tony Homo came back to earth this week. UJ probably expected 25+ point week from him, and if he had gotten that it could have put him into 6th, but no. UJ is very strong at the QB position though, and has a nice 1-2 punch to choose from at the position. UJ also suffered at the WR position, getting only 6.5 points total. Dallas Clark continues to produce at TE, in spite of being nearly killed on one hit this week. Defensively UJ left points on the board at LB, where Demarcus Ware and James Farrior had good weeks but UJ started Tatupu and Thomas. Another thing that hurt UJ was not having a rookie in the lineup.
