This Spitoons left no doubt about who the champion is this year by crushing the BeaudoinBrothers and all other teams in the final week to secure their first PQBFL championship .  The Spitoons needed to avoid defeat by 3+ ranks but ended the suspense very early when Dillon scored 2 TDs and C Palmer threw for 2 TDs but none to Chad Johnson in the early games.  The rest was a formality but the Spitoons kept piling up points with T Owens scoring on a long TD, M Harrison scored as well, Winslow Jr caught 11 passes, and the Ravens stopped the Bills offense and scored one TD and 21 pts.  B Westbrook got benched after only a few minutes when the Eagles found out that the Cowgirls had lost to the Lions.  But Westbrook’s benching did not matter because the Spitoons beat the Dugongs by more than 35 pts.  It was the Spitoons’ 4th win this year, fewer than the BeaudoinBrothers’ 6 wins, but the Spitoons were far more consistent because they finished in the top half 15 out of 17 weeks (and the last 12 weeks straight) compared to 11 out of 17 weeks for the BBs.  The Spitoons had arguably the most balanced team in the league as this team had no weakness except for the less important DB position.  Congratulations to the Spitoons!

The Dugongs finished the season on a high note with a second straight 2nd place finish.  If the season had extended a few more weeks, they might even have caught Wax in 7th place.  A few weeks ago, all the Dugongs wanted was the season to end ASAP, but they started having some fun in the end.  Warner got his first start since week #4 because Leinart was injured and he scored 16.5 pts, one of the highest scores for the Dugongs at the QB position which was a headache all year.  Frank Gore scored 15 pts on the road against the Broncos in a very impressive performance to deny the Broncos a spot in the NFL playoffs.  Gore finished 5th best RB in the PQBFL in one of the biggest surprises of the year.  Lee Evans has not been used much by the Dugongs this year, but he started this week and scored 22 pts.  He did not make a lot of noise this year, but he finished 9th best WR and beat big names like Chad Johnson, Andre Johnson, Javon Walker, Roy Williams, P Burress, H Ward, and L Fitzgerald.  The Dugongs finished this nightmare season dead last in the standings, strength of starters, and coaching efficiency.

Everybody thought FlyingElvis was doomed in 4th place after getting only 4 rank-points in three weeks, but FE came back to life with a 3rd place and jumped right back in front of the Decepticons who crashed in the final week.  FE management was pretty satisfied with the 3rd place since this was only their second year in the league and they are confident the team can rise to the top in 2007.  This week, franchise player Larry Johnson finished strong to lead the Chiefs into the playoffs with 29 pts.  Steve Smith was happy to get Delhomme back at QB and he scored 2 TDs to end his drought.  Donnie Edwards by reaching double-digits for the 9th time in the last 11 weeks and he finished 4th best LB in the PQBFL.  Note that FE continued making rookie mistakes this week by starting the Jaguars defense on the road in KC instead of the Jets D fighting for the playoff lives at home against the Raiders.  This mistake cost FE the 2nd place this week .  Favre ended the season with 11.5 pts.  FE will lobby pretty hard all offseason to get Favre back on the field in 2007 as part of Elvis’ saved team.

UncleJack beat OldNo7 this week, but only beat Old by one rank so UJ finished the season tied with Old at 70.5 rank-points and finished behind Old due to the tie-breaker – UJ scored 2062.5 total points against 2118 total points for Old.  UJ came out greatly disappointed to end the season in 6th place .  P Manning had a big game with 27.5 pts, W Parker scored 2 goal-line TDs to finish the season as 7th best RB, and Betts continued his excellent work as a replacement player with 14 pts.  UJ needed Muhammad to have a good game on Sunday night to beat FE but it did not happen.  Muhammad only caught one pass.  T Gonzalez also did not pull his weight this week with only 4 pts as the Chiefs relied on the run.  On defense, L Fletcher – the best defensive player in the PQBFL this year – was benched again .  There are rumors that he had a fight with UJ’s coach and that he was benched for disciplinary reasons.  Everybody could see UJ’s coach was a black eye on the sidelines and he looked pretty roughed up .  There is no doubt that UJ will not care if Fletcher is voted as the cut defensive player from UJ’s roster.

OldNo7 did enough this week to finish ahead of UJ in the standings.  Steven Jackson and Torry Holt are the only ones that showed up for Old in the final week.  Other players must have been on vacation already.  S Jax scored a season-high 37.5 pts to follow up last week’s 34 pts and finished with 115.5 pts over the last four weeks for an average of 28.9 pts , something that would almost make L Tomlinson jealous.  S Jax is probably the most valuable franchise player in the PQBFL after LT because the Rams did not put as much wear and tear on him than the Chiefs did with Larry Johnson.  Choosing S Jax as the franchise player in August 2006 turned out to be one of the greatest moves in OldNo7’s franchise history so Portis’ injury during the offseason was a blessing.  We can say all injuries have been in Old’s favor this year.  Aside from the 2 Rams players, everybody on Old’s team finished in the single-digits, most notably Ju Peppers with another goose egg.  Peppers started the season very strong, but had 8 games of 4.5 pts or less in the last 10 games.  He finished the season as the 4th best DL, not bad, but definitely below the high expectations that Old had.  Old also had shitty scoring from the QB and D positions again, with 4.5 pts from McNair and 3 pts from the Bucs.

The BeaudoinBrothers did not recover from their week #16 beating and were clearly off their A-game in the final week.  They only scored 105 pts to finish in 6th place .  Bulger and Gates did ok with 14 pts and 13.5 pts, but LT was unable to carry the team on his shoulder again by scoring only 6.5 pts and leaving the game early to remain fresh for the playoffs.  Chad Johnson had another bad game with only 6.5 pts.  He finished the season as the 10th best WR, which is much lower than his draft status as the 2nd WR off the board in August, and even his 10th place hides the fact that he lumped almost all his TDs in just two back-to-back weeks in the middle of the season.  He was very mediocre for the rest of the year.  The BB management has been very unhappy about his production this year and his 2-year stint with the BeaudoinBrothers might come to an end because he will likely be cut from the BB roster in the offseason.  The Bears defense has been partly responsible for the late season collapse of the BBs and they only scored 6 pts this week.  The Bears have benched a few players to rest them for the playoffs, they have had injuries, and one dumb ass got into legal trouble (Tank Johnson).  The Bears led the defensive team standings for most of the year but got passed by the Ravens this week to finish 2nd.  Although the BBs were disappointed about not winning the league, this is nonetheless the 9th time in the 10-year history of the league that they finish in the top 2, with the only exception being a 3rd place in 2003 in a very close race where the BBs needed only 4 receptions for 40 yards from Todd Heap in the final game of the season on Sunday night to win the league, but Heap only caught one pass to drop the BBs to third place in the closest finish in PQBFL history.

WaxOnWaxOff finished in the bottom 2 for the seventh time in the last 11 weeks and actually finished closer to last place than to 6th place .  Who would have thought after week #5 when Wax was on top of the standings, leading FE by 3 rank-points and Spi by 4 rank-points.  Tiki Barber has been a waste for Wax this year, but he exploded with 43.5 pts this week, more than doubling his previous season high of 19.5 pts in week #6 .  Other than Wax’s LBs Z Thomas and Merriman both having a decent game with 12 and 12.5 pts to finish as the best LB duo in the PQBFL (LB2 and LB3), the rest of Wax’s lineup was putrid.  Rudi Johnson 4 pts, P Burress 3 pts, Re Brown 0 pt, LJ Smith 0 pt, J Abraham 1 pt, T Polamalu 2 pts, even rookie G Jennings scored zero because he went to the hospital for his pregnant wife.  Wax’s GM was extremely pissed off that a player on the team would give priority to his wife over his PQBFL team.  Wax decided to fine Jennings 4-games worth of salary for his actions.

The Decepticons sold the skin of the bear too soon and thought the 3rd place in the standings was a given, but crashed to last place with their worst performance of the year with 81.5 pts.  Brees was benched because the Saints had nothing to play for, and backup Pennington could not achieve Brees and McNabb levels of performance with only 10 pts.  It did not matter however, because the Cons needed a lot more to finish in 3rd place.  McGahee scored -0.5 pt against the Ravens, J Lewis did not do much better on the other side of the field with 6.5 pts, J Walker disappointed with only 5 pts, Cutler was average with 9.5 pts and could not lead the Broncos to the playoffs.  The Broncos’ loss was a huge blow to Dec because it eliminates Cutler, T Bell, and J Walker from the playoffs and they would have been able to score valuable points for the Decepticons during the mini-postseason to determine the draft order of the 3rd round of 2007.  The Decepticons were well positioned for 2007 due to a couple of trades to improve their draft status, but they will come out as heavy underdogs for the post-season except for maybe the Dugongs, so their hopes to draft in the first part of the 3rd round are not very high.  In addition, the loss of McNabb combined with the retirement announcement and subsequent trade of Tiki Barber means that the Decepticons don’t have a clear franchise player for 2007 .  Because the Decepticons have not been affected by injuries very much this year, they will only have the 6th option of draft spot in 2007 so they might not even be able to a player early in the draft.
