2006 Week #15
3rd Place BeaudoinBrothers 128 pts
5th Place - Tied - Dugongs 121 pts
5th Place - Tied - OldNo7 121 pts
UncleJack crushed all teams by more than 50 pts to easily win for the 2nd time of the season. This win pushed UJ into 5th place, two rank-points ahead of OldNo7 with two weeks left. Unfortunately for UJ, Dec also had a good week so UJ only gained one-rank point on Dec and 4th place seems out of reach. This was UJ's best week ever since the introduction of defensive players in 2004. UJ's previous high was 174.5 pts in week #12 of 2004. Everybody on UJ's team contributed this week. The worst scorers were the kicker with 8 pts, Boldin with 9 pts, and T Gonzalez with 9.5 pts. All other players scored double-digits. In an unnecessary performance on MNF, P Manning scored 30.5 pts. UJ had a huge lead going into Monday night because of great games by the Steelers defense against the Panthers (24.5 pts), W Parker (19 pts), and rookie Demetrius Williams who scored a 77-yd TD (16 pts). All four players on defense also scored double digits. T Suggs had been benched since week #10 but started this week and came back with 12 pts. DB Antrel Rolle has not started that often for UJ this year, but he did well this week with 12.5 pts.
The Decepticons came out on top of a log jam between 2nd and 6th place with a clutch 17-pt performance by Reggie Wayne on MNF. P Manning's first three TDs were all to M Harrison which was frustrating for Dec. But the last one was to Wayne and it moved Dec from a tie in 4th place to 2nd place in front of the BBs. The Decepticons' recent surge combined with the internal problems with Elvis' team helped Dec moved to within half a rank-point behind FE in 3rd place. Dec gained a jaw-dropping 13 rank-points on FE in only two weeks . Even though Dec is still behind FE, they are now the favorites to finish 3rd this season. What a great year for a team who was away from football in 2005. The coach made a great decision this week, benching the hot rookie Vince Young in favor of Cutler . Cutler scored 20 pts compared to only 2.5 pts for V Young. This 17.5 pt swing was the difference between 2nd place and 6th place - enormous! The 'Cons overcame the struggles of D Brees at QB with only 3.5 pts and RB T Bell scoring a goose egg. Note that the defensive TD by the Eagles was not only the backbreaker against the Giants, but it was key for Dec this week.
The BeaudoinBrothers were in a dog fight with the Spitoons on MNF and came out on top by only 3 pts . They beat the Spitoons by only one rank for the fifth straight week. The Bros have beat the Spitoons in 10 of the last 12 weeks so they have been pretty dominant. This week, the Bros were almost tied with the Spitoons going into Monday night with C Palmer and C Johnson left for both teams. CJ did not have a good game, but he did enough to beat Palmer. Only 128 pts was an off-week for the BeaudoinBrothers. Only LT and Vick had good weeks. Vick started instead of Hasselbeck despite Vick's bad game in week #14 and the coaches were rewarded with Vick's 30 pts against the Cowgirls. Vick jumped ahead of Palmer in the QB rankings and he's now 4th. It's been a great year for Vick and he's been key to the BB success especially with the injury to Hasselbeck and the losses on O-Line for the Rams and Bulger. LT was himself again with 31 pts. He is having one of the best seasons ever, if not the best of all-time. He schooled punk-ass Larry Johnson on Sunday Night and he now leads him 25.6 to 16.3 pts per game. This is almost the greatest dominance ever at one position. The top was in 2000, D Culpepper (Dug) outscored J Lewis (Beaud) 21.1 to 10.0 pts per game at the rookie position. The BeaudoinBrothers were somewhat slowed down by injuries this week with K Jones and D-Jax out and their replacements C Taylor and H Ward not having good weeks.
The Spitoons got the wind knocked out of them with C Palmer scoring only 3 pts on Monday Night. The Spitoons had come back all day on Sunday after trailing the BBs in the projections by about 20 pts after the Thursday and Saturday games, and then they were about tied with the Bros after Sunday. Westbrook had revived the Spitoons' hopes with 23 pts in a late game on Sunday. J Taylor had another nice week with 12.5 pts. But the Spitoons came up short again and now trail by 4 rank-points in the standings. It will be very difficult to overcome this deficit. The Spitoons need to hope for the Bros to have a very bad week and the Spitoons need to finish top 2 in both weeks left. They have no more room for error. The Spitoons' coach had a great year, leading the league with 87.1% efficiency. But this week he fumbled and he can be blamed for this loss because he started Lions WR Roy Williams instead of M Harrison. Williams scored 1.5 pts compared to 27 pts for Harrison . If Harrison had started, the Spitoons would have beat the Bros by 2 rank-points and would be behind in the standings by only 1 rank-point instead of 4 rank-points. Note also the stinker from AJ Hawk (only 1 point) who was outscored again by the BeaudoinBrothers' DeMeco Ryans. The BBs claimed after the draft that D Ryans would outscore Hawk, and unless something drastic changes in weeks 16-17, they will have been right.
The Dugongs tied with OldNo7 in 5th place for the second straight week. So their streak of being in the bottom three is still alive and well at 14 weeks . All of the Dugongs' QBs scored -7.5 pts in total: Frye injured, Warner benched, Carr -8 pts, and A Brooks outscored them all by scoring 0.5 pt Great choice by the coach . F Gore had another great week with 21.5 pts against the Seahawks. L Coles also had a big game against the Vikings with 12 catches for 144 yds and one TD. At rookie, the Dugongs have been sticking with Wimbley recently and got burnt again when Mike Bell scored 2 short TDs and outscored Wimbley 15 to 3. If M Bell had started, the Dugongs would have finished tied for 2nd place. The only good news for the Dugongs on Sunday was the birth of Max Smith at 6:07pm Eastern. He promises to be a much better team GM and coach than the decrepit Doug Smith who needs to go. Max Smith is the future of this franchise. Or maybe he could form a duo with Chet Smith to form the Smith Brothers? With the kind of success the BeaudoinBrothers have had, the Dugongs could be a force to reckon with starting in about 2020.
OldNo7 got another lackluster week with only 121 pts. However, for a rare occasion, OldNo7 can blame it on injuries . McNair got injured early in the game and Old could have finished much higher if he stayed healthy. The coach stayed with MB3 at RB despite his zero points last week and was rewarded with 19 pts from him. The other starting RB S Jackson also did well with 22.5 pts. On defense, the Bears players C Tillman and L Briggs had nice games with 14 pts each. The problem for Old this week was the WR position. Old started out strong but has slowed down because T Holt and A Johnson have not been doing well at all recently. They scored a combined 12.5 pts this week - not enough to compete with the top teams. Note that Reggie Bush's see-saw season continues. He only scored 2.5 pts this week. Old fell 2 rank-points behind UJ and 5th place in the standings.
WaxOnWaxOff finished in the bottom 2 for the sixth time in the last 9 weeks . Their players have been far too inconsistent. Tiki Barber did score a rare TD this week and Zach Thomas had a huge game with 11 tackles, 10 assists, and two forced fumbles. Rudi Johnson ran well against the Colts but the Bengals were behind so they abandoned the run. Wax struggled this week due to E Manning who did not throw a TD pass at home in a crucial game against the Eagles and he was intercepted twice. He's the 11th best QB in the league and been a disappointment for Wax this season. D Branch was expected to be the top WR for the Seahawks in D-Jax's absence, but DJ Hackett was the most targeted WR, not Branch. Branch only scored 6.5 pts against the 49ers. J Abraham has not been the same since his injury and he only scored 1 pt. L Maroney missed this week due to an injury and backup Jennings only scored 1 pt. Jennings was the top rookie in the PQBFL after 6 weeks, but he has done nothing since then and is currently 9th. This is surprising because the Packers' offense is not different today than it was earlier this year.
FlyingElvis' meltdown continues. It's been fun to watch. FE scored a league-low 80 pts this week and finished dead last for the third time this year, an accomplishment that only Wax and Dug also have made. FE started the wrong QB again. Favre started and scored -3.5 pts while Brady was benched at home against the Texans and he scored 16.5 pts. Ass hole Larry Johnson was held in check against the Chargers and only scored 7.5 pts. Maybe he learned something from LT during that game? What an ass hole he is. Informal sources have reported that he's been dissing Priest Holmes a lot in off the field activities. He's also said that Herm Edwards and him get along together better than Dick Vermeil because Edwards is a black coach so he understands L Johnson better? What a dumb fuck to say this to the media. As great an individual LT is, as much of a shit personality LJ has. At WR, FE had bad games from S Smith (7.5 pts) and TJ Jackass (6 pts). Ben Watson missed the game to an injury, Leinart threw 2 INTs and no TD, Vilma scored only 3 pts and dropped to 22nd best LB out of 27 playing LBs in the PQBFL, C Grant only scored 3 pts as well, Ed Reed is not starting material in the PQBFL and scored 6 pts this week, in summary, all is well in Elvis land! To conclude, the FE coach was quoted this week saying this about the weekly summary: "... and as for your comments about me sucking and you being great, fuck you." Awesome! Frustration is at an all-time high in Elvis' camp!
Note: sometimes the NFL announces stats changes and according to PQBFL rules, the results are not totally official until Sunday 1pm Eastern.
