After a last place last week, the Decepticons exploded with their season-high score of 182 pts.  The 'Cons were on their way to a nice week after the 4pm games (2nd or 3rd place) but D Brees scored 45 pts on Sunday night to lead Dec to victory.  This win almost assures that Dec will finish in the top half of the standings and they still have a shot at 3rd place.  The coach had a great week with 97.8% coaching efficiency.  The best move was to bench regular starter Ad Thomas and start instead K Brooking .  This move was worth 11 pts because Brooking scored 17 pts compared to 6 pts for A Thomas, and Dec beat the BBs by 10.5 pts.  Rookie V Young continued his surge with 18 pts this week, his fifth straight game with at least 12 pts.  He is now the 2nd best rookie in the league.  The 'Cons RBs also did well this week with 18 pts from McGahee and 12.5 pts from T Bell.  It is safe to say that Tiki Barber has not been missed so far since being traded away.

The BeaudoinBrothers beat the Spitoons again by a wide margin but got no help whatsoever from other teams, so they only gained a single rank-point on Spi for the 4th straight week.  The Bros extended their lead to three rank-points and they are now almost assured of having the tiebreaker.  The BBs could have won for an unprecedented fifth straight week if they had started Hasselbeck or Bulger instead of Vick .  Vick had a rare bad game with only 2 pts, the first time he scored less than 8.5 pts this year.  The other coaching mistake was to bench the highest scoring LB again with K Morrison scoring 17 pts on the bench compared to only 4 pts by struggling Tatupu .  Other than that, all other BB players had good weeks.  LT scored his 27th, 28th, and 29th TDs of the year (in addition to 2 passing TDs this year) and got 24 pts this week, in line with his season average.  A Gates took over the lead as the best TE in the PQBFL by scoring 2 TDs and 23 pts.  DL Schobel started the season very slow which even prompted the Bros to acquire Osi Umenyiora.  Osi got injured so Schobel went back to the starting lineup.  Schobel has done very well recently and with his 21 pts this week, he only trails stars Ju Peppers (Old) and J Allen (Dug) by one point per week on average.  Rookie D Ryans had another stellar week with 8 tackles, 6 assists, and 1 PD.

The Spitoons kept their head above water with a third place despite being crushed by the BBs by 47.5 pts this week (following last week's 58 pts).  Despite getting beat by the BBs five straight weeks, the Spitoons are still within striking distance of first place, but time is running out.  With only three weeks left, the Spitoons cannot afford to lose again.  The BBs have the Spitoons in the ropes and Spi MUST beat the Bros in week #15 to keep their hopes alive.  The Spitoons came close to a total meltdown this week because if they had scored 14 fewer points, they would have finished in 7th place and it would have been a crushing blow to their championship dreams.  The Ravens and Jason Taylor once again led the Spitoons with 14 pts and 13.5 pts.  Many Spitoons players did just enough to distance Wax, Dug, Old, and UJ, for example C Palmer 12.5 pts, Westbrook 10.5 pts, M Harrison 11 pts, T Owens 12.5 pts, and AJ Hawk 11.5 pts.  Scoring more points would not have made a difference for Spi this week, but it's worth noting that S Alexander had a bad year before his injury, and he is still not doing the job since his return (8.9 pts per game since returning) .  This week, Alexander scored only 3.5 pts against the Cards, a team that he beat up regularly in the past.  S Alexander's average this year is almost the same as backup C Dillon (8.4 vs 7.9).

WaxOnWaxOff finished in the top half for only the 2nd time since week #5 with a fourth place.  Wax should have beat Spi this week, but the coach made two absolutely horrendous calls .  Wax benched their best WR by far P Burress who was playing the Panthers without BOTH starting CBs C Gamble and Ken Lucas .  Instead Wax started Re Brown (does Wax know McNabb is injured?) and Randy Moss (does Wax know Moss is not playing for the Vikings with Culpepper anymore?) .  Moss and Brown combined for 9.5 pts while P Burress scored 14.5 pts by himself .  Benching the 10th best WR in favor of the 33rd best WR (R Moss) is the kind of move made by expansion teams, not experienced teams like Wax.  In addition, Wax started the shitty Dallas defense against the high-octane offense of the Saints (2nd best in the NFL).  Why oh why?   The Falcons were playing the hopeless Bucs.  The Cows scored -3.5 pts while the Falcons scored 19 pts, a swing of 22.5 pts.  .  The BBs were not happy by this development at all because it robbed them of a precious rank-point against the Spitoons.  There are rumors that the Spitoons paid Wax to submit a crap lineup.    With Wax's low ethics, this would not be surprising.  On the positive side, note that S Merriman got a rare start for Wax this year, and he did very well with 19.5 pts this week.  Who would have thought that Merriman would be sitting at LB3 after 14 weeks, only 0.1 pt per week behind K Bulluck.

After 12 straight weeks in the bottom three, the Dugongs finished tied for 5th place.  The Dugongs were extremely happy about this result because expectations are pretty low in Dugong-land after all .   Replacement player Travis Henry continues to do fairly well with 17.5 pts this week.  F Gore has been one of the few good players for Dug this year and he scored 16 pts this week.  He is the 6th best RB in the PQBFL which is a pleasant surprise.  For once, both Dug starting WRs had a good game with 16.5 pts from L Fitz and 14 pts from L Coles.  The rest of the Dugongs team was pretty bad as usual.  The Dugongs only got 19 pts from the four defensive starters.  In addition, the Broncos defense was crushed by the Chargers and they came up with a goose egg.  A Brooks scored 9 pts, which is probably as good as the Dugongs can hope for from this loser.  One interesting note: the Dugongs now have 37 rank-points in the standings.  In the last five weeks, but BeaudoinBrothers got 39 rank-points.  Nice.

OldNo7 had a very up and down week with 114.5 pts, tied with the lowly Dugongs.  Old got a great game from S Jackson on MNF with 21.5 pts.  S Jackson turned out to be a good choice as a franchise player because he's the 4th best RB in the league and his prospects for 2007 are very good.  Old also had great games from C Tillman (15 pts) and Reggie Bush (21.5).  Bush is very inconsistent, but he has been doing much better recently.  He is currently the 5th best rookie in the PQBFL but still trails teammate J Addai.  However, Old also had several players with atrocious games this week.  Marion Barber III reminded everybody that he's a backup RB.  He scored a goose egg with minus one yard rushing and no reception this week .  Why did the Cows not use him this week?  MB3 had 4 straight double-digit games prior to this week.  Ju Peppers has slowed down considerably with the rest of the Panthers defense and he scored only 2 pts.  Peppers only has 10.5 pts in the last 4 weeks.  Old also got a clunker from the Browns D but if Old did not draft such a shitty defense , they would not be having this problem right now.  After a promising start, Old has not done better than 4th place since week #6.  In previous years, OldNo7 management always blamed injuries for their lack of success, for example last year, Old was the team the most affected by injuries and they finished 5th out of 7 teams in the standings.  This year, what's the excuse?  It's been a nearly injury-free year for Old, with a useless backup like C Simms and the unnecessary D Stallworth (Holt + A Johnson the starters) missing a few games, plus a kicker missing three games, but that's about it.  Old has been the team the least affected by injuries by far this season.  Old has not had a single starter injured this year.  None.  Zero.  This is pretty amazing.  After yet another losing season, what will OldNo7 tell their fans during the offseason?  That they are incompetent at drafting a good team?

UncleJack slipped again after a good week last week with a disappointing 7th place.  UJ can now forget about 4th place and they are in a battle with Old and Wax for 5th, 6th, and 7th place.  LaMont Jordan's injury has been a good news for UJ because L Betts has done well in his replacement.  Betts scored 15 pts this week.  W Parker continued to run wild with 223 rushing yards and a TD.  Parker is firmly installed as the league's 5th best RB.  P Manning was contained this week with only 12 pts against the Jaguars.  Muhammad was the only other UJ player to reach double-digits with 11.5 pts.  High draft pick A Boldin has been greatly affected by the benching of K Warner this year.  With only 6 pts this week, Boldin fell to 20th best WR in the league.  TE Gonzalez cannot score every week and he was held in check this week with 4.5 pts.  He fell back behind A Gates (Beaud) in the TE rankings.  On defense, UJ has the highest scoring player this year in London Fletcher.  Why the hell was he benched in week #14?    Was the Jets matchup supposed to be a bad matchup?  Fletcher scored 17 pts, his 2nd best game of the year.  Starters Barnett and Farrior scored 14.5 pts combined.

FlyingElvis is crashing.  FE finished last for the first time since week #2 by barely reaching the century mark (100.5 pts).  FE had a season-low 60.7% coaching efficiency, their second straight sub-65% week.  Benching star WR Steve Smith was a good call (8 pts compared to starters TJ Jackass 21.5 pts and T Glenn 15.5 pts), but the last minute change to bench Rivers and start Brady was a killer: 20 pts for Rivers and -0.5 pt for Brady.  This decision alone cost FE four ranks.    On defense, FE was dreadful.  The four individual starters scored 16 pts combined and the Jets scored 4 pts at home against the Bills.  We have not talked about high-priced Jonathan Vilma very much this year.  Vilma was the 1st pick of the fourth round and second defensive player taken after K Bulluck.  Vilma only scored 1 pt (yes, he's healthy) this week and fell to 21st best LB in the league.  What the fuck is that?  High-end defensive players are almost always at the top of their position and are very predictable (see L Fletcher, Bulluck, Z Thomas, Urlacher, D Edwards, Ray Lewis, Jason Taylor, Ju Peppers, Adrian Wilson... same names every year).  It is shocking to see a big name like Vilma fail so miserably.  FE is now 16.5 rank-points behind the BBros so they are almost mathematically eliminated.  Their chances of finishing 2nd are almost nil as well.  FE will have to fight to hang on to 3rd place against the charging Decepticons.  FE keeps blaming Portis' injury for their debacle.  I guess Portis would have scored 70 pts per week if he was healthy .  Blaming injuries might be something FE learned from OldNo7.  In the meantime, the intra-team fighting and arguing continues in the FE locker room, everybody is playing the blame game, and everybody is screaming at each other  .  Some say FE is crashing because of L Tomlinson, because of Portis' injury, because Brady sucks, because Brady's receivers suck, because the FE coach makes bad decisions, because the Chiefs are running LJ into the ground and he's tired, because because because...  Because FlyingElvis sucks?

Note: sometimes the NFL announces stats changes and according to PQBFL rules, the results are not totally official until Sunday 1pm Eastern.
