The Spitoons got their second win of the season with the 2nd best score of the year at 189.5 pts.  They moved to within half a point of the first place FlyingElvis.  This is quite a drastic turn of events for the Spitoons who were tied in 4th place with the BeaudoinBrothers just last week.  Now the Spitoons are looking quite good near the top of the standings and S Alexander coming back to health soon.  If the Spitoons can stay almost at the top in despite their franchise player's absence, it is very promising for the rest of the season .  The Spitoons got an unexpected huge game from TE Crumpler who had been disappointing before this week.  Crumpler scored 30.5 pts against the overrated Steelers defense .  RB Westbrook continues to brush off all concerns about his knee and he scored 26.5 pts to take back the RB1 spot away from L Tomlinson (Beaud).  Rookie A.J. Hawk had his best game of the season with 16.5 pts.  Another good news for the Spitoons is that QB Palmer is slowing getting back to his 2005 form.  He scored 19.5 pts this week, and we can only expect him to get better in the 2nd half of the season.  Even backup RB Dillon contributed this week.  He did not get the ball often, but he scored twice and got 14.5 pts.

The Decepticons surprised everybody this week.  After giving up on the season and trading away franchise player Tiki Barber to shore up the team's 2007 draft picks, the Decepticons came up with their best performance of the season by more than 30 pts (162.5 pts this week compared to 132 pts in week #5).  The Decepticons got an eye-popping game out of DB Ronde Barber who scored 38 freakin' points .  This beats the PQBFL record for most points scored by a defensive player.  The old record also belonged to Dec when Donnie Edwards scored 37 pts in week #14 of the 2004 season.  Barber's score of 38 is more than what Dec teammate DB Erik Coleman has scored all year!   Barber obviously took over the DB1 spot so far this year and he also leads all defensive players with an average of 14.3 pts per week.  Other than Barber, the Decepticons got another multi-TD game from McNabb with 26 pts.  McNabb still leads all other PQBFL players by more than 5 pts per week.  The Decepticons were able to afford trading away Tiki Barber because RB Tatum Bell has come on recently.  Bell is now clearly the #1 RB in Denver and he scored 15.5 pts this week.  Bell has scored over 10 pts in three of his last four games.

FlyingElvis escaped with a 3rd place this week, barely beating the BeaudoinBrothers on Monday Night.  FE needed help from several sources to hang on at the end.  FE had a big start with the 1pm games when LJ showed that he was still worth franchise player status by scoring 24 pts against the tough Chargers defense.  TJ Housh continues to play like the WR1 in Cincy and he scored another TD this week.  FE's other WR S Smith did not score a TD, but he was very involved in the offense again with 8 receptions for 126 yds and 14 pts.  After 7 weeks, the WR position is clearly a force for FE with TJ sitting at #1 in the WR rankings and S Smith is 5th.  FE slowed down somewhat with the 4pm games when rookie M Leinart showed that he is still a rookie.  He only scored a measly 0.5 pt against the Raiders D.  RB Portis was largely ineffective against the Colts and he only scored 5 pts.  The BBs had revived hopes of beating FE.  But FE got a big break from an unlikely source.  The last play of the 3rd quarter for the Min-Sea game was this: "S.Wallace sacked at MIN 14 for 0 yards (93-K.Williams)."  A sack for zero yards?    Are you kidding me???  That's called a tackle, not a sack, jack ass!  This free 3 pts awarded to DL Kevin Williams was the difference maker for FE to beat the BeaudoinBrothers.  You can be sure that the BeaudoinBrothers' management will scan the web all week to find out if the Elias Sports Bureau will fix this mistake.  Hell, maybe the BBs will send a formal complaint letter to the NFL

Last year, everything was falling the BeaudoinBrothers' way, but this year, everything that can go wrong for the BBs goes wrong.  For the second time in three weeks, not one, but two players got a mid-game injury that totally killed the BBs and cost them very valuable rank-points.  This week, M Hasselbeck was lost to a knee injury on the first drive on the 3rd qtr.  It is clear that this injury cost the BBs the 3rd place.  Also, on MNF, Osi Umenyiora was doing his best to help the BBs come back to beat FE.  He scored 7 pts in the first half, but went down to an injury after less than one minute of play in the 3rd qtr.  He would have probably gotten at least 2 pts in the remaining 29 minutes of the game.  A Pierce did his best alone to overcome Osi's loss on MNF but he fell short despite his best game of the year with 13 pts.  Injuries were partly responsible for the abysmal coaching efficiency of 67.0% for the BBs this week, but benching H Ward had nothing to do with injuries.  Ward scored 36.5 pts on the bench, and if he had started instead of struggling CJ, the BeaudoinBrothers would have finished 2nd this week.  The BBs fell back to last place in coaching efficiency for the season.

The Dugongs scored a mediocre 118 pts this week but it was enough to slightly edge UJ by half a point.  With A Brooks injured and Warner benched, QB David Carr is doing his best to lift the Dugongs out of last place in the PQBFL standings.  Carr scored 21 pts this week and moved up to 12th best QB in the league.  Not too bad.  The second best scorer for Dug this week was the Broncos defense with a strong game against the Browns with 17.5 pts.  The Broncos are surprisingly the 3rd best defense in the league behind the Bears (Beaud) and the Ravens (Spi).  J Allen and A Wilson also got decent games on defense, but the rest of Dug's lineup was pretty much crap all over.  E James is absolutely worthless.  No franchise players can suck this bad.  After getting 36 carries for only 55 yards (1.5 yd per carry ) against the Bears last week (ok, it was the Bears), James got 13 carries for 34 yds this week against the Raiders (2.6 yds per carry).  E James has been reinventing new levels of suckdom for franchise players.  This dude needs some serious help and he would probably love to run back to Indy .  First pick overall Ronnie Brown is not getting it done either.  He did reach double-digits this week, but at RB14 he is a disappointment.  The Dugongs WRs are capable of great games, but they are also very inconsistent.  This week, L Coles and L Evans scored a combined 8.5 pts.

*** UPDATE *** The NFL changed the stats for L Evans who had 1 reception for 10 yards and one fumble lost instead of 1 reception for 11 yards and no fumble.  Therefore, the Dugongs scored 115 pts, not 118 pts.

UncleJack came up short on MNF when J Feely scored 9 pts, but UJ needed 10 pts to beat the Dugongs.  UJ got a big game from franchise player P Manning (34 pts - season high).  The team's LBs did pretty well too with 12 pts from L Fletcher and 14.5 pts from J Farrior.  However, the coach should have started N Barnett who did even better with 18.5 pts.  That cost the team 5th place.  RB L Jordan was a surprise late scratch and missed the game due to injury.  He was supposed to play because the team had listed him as probable on the injury report.  The UJ coach was quite pissed off at this unforeseen development but the team had nobody else to start at RB anyway.  And the other RB W Parker scored only 0.5 pt while the Steelers scored 38 pts.  What was that all about?    WR Boldin was affected by the bad play of rookie Leinart and Boldin only scored 8 pts.  The Steelers defense got walloped by the Falcons and only scored 1.5 pt.  UJ is now pretty far back from the Decepticons in the standings (4.5 rank-points) and their lead on the last-place Dugongs has been cut to only 2 rank-points.

*** UPDATE *** UncleJack beat the Dugongs this week due to the stat change for L Evans mentioned above.

WaxOnWaxOff's slide continues.  The acquisition of Tiki Barber was a great move in the team's quest for the PQBFL championship because the standings are very tight so this trade clearly improves the team's chances.  However Tiki has yet to score a TD this year, and he only scored 9 pts on MNF.  Is Tiki still motivated despite announcing his retirement?  In the last 5 weeks, Wax has only obtained 19 rank-points, which is 6th in the league during that period.  Only UJ (16) and Dug (12) have done worse.  That compares to FE with 34.5 rank-points, the Spitoons 25 rank-points, the BeaudoinBrothers 26 rank-points, and OldNo7 24.5 rank-points.  Wax needs to wake up soon or the season will slip away.  Wax is now tied in 3rd place in the standings with the BeaudoinBrothers and the Vegas linemakers see them only as the 4th favorites to win the league despite Tiki's acquisition.  This week, E Manning threw a TD bomb to P Burress early in the MNF game which gave hope to Wax to beat UJ and Dug, and maybe even the BBs and/or FE.  But the rest of the game was not very good.    E Manning threw an INT, Tiki Barber fumbled the ball, and P Burress only caught one more pass.  Wax's other RB Cadillac Williams continues to struggle with only 7.5 pts this week.  As the league's 26th best RB, he has been a disappointment so far this season.  Rookie Maroney was a key to Wax's success early this season, but he has significantly slowed down.  Maroney has scored less than 7 pts in three of his last four games, and he only has 5.5 pts in his last two weeks combined.

OldNo7 had half of the team's regular starters on bye and got crushed this week as expected.  S Jackson, T Holt, K Bulluck, L Briggs, C Tillman, and R Bush were all on bye.  The six replacements only scored 24 pts combined.  Nice .  It does not look like this shitty group of backups will see the field anytime soon for Old.  Ju Peppers thought it was a good timing to get his worst game of the year with 4 pts, which was only the second time this year that he did not get double-digit points.  Backup RB F Taylor fumbled the ball and even kicker Tynes missed a FG and an extra point .  The only good news for Old were the games of A Johnson and J Kitna.  Johnson has been red hot and scored 20 pts .  Johnson has not scored less than 11 pts all year!  He is now the league's third best WR.  QB Kitna is desperately needed for Old because McNair and Plummer suck.  Kitna scored 21.5 pts this week and moved up to 11th best QB in the league.  This last place for Old this week leaves only the Spitoons and BeaudoinBrothers as the only teams not to finish last so far this year.  All other teams have finished last once except for the Dugongs who finished last twice.  This bad week for Old hurts quite a bit because the team fell from 3rd to 5th in the standings, and now Old has the surprising Decepticons breathing down their neck 4.5 rank-points behind.  OldNo7 is in danger of falling out of the league's 5-team race for first place.

Note: sometimes the NFL announces stats changes and according to PQBFL rules, the results are not totally official until Sunday 1pm Eastern.
