FlyingElvis has been the hottest team in the league over the last 2 weeks . They followed up their nice 2nd place on week 3 with a 1st place this week. All of their key offensive players scored at least 16.5 points. In fact, T.Brady, L.Johnson, C.Portis, S.Smith and T.Glenn scored 8 TDs combined. The good news for FlyingElvis is that Steve Smith seems to be recovered from his injury (12.5 pts on week 3, 19 pts on week 4). Meanwhile, Terry Glenn has quietly become the leading scorer among WRs in the PQBFL!! On the defensive side of the ball, Ed Reed got his best game of the season, thanks to a safety against the Chargers. D.Edwards had also his best game of the year with 13.5 (only 6 tackles, but he intercepted a pass, recovered a fumble and defended one pass). The worst performances on this team came from the Jags defense which scored -0.5 pts against the Skins (boy, did Santana Moss burned them) and Charles Grant who couldn’t get more than a single tackle. There might be a new starter at the rookie position for this team since Matt Leinart has been finally named the starter in Arizona. FlyingElvis moved from the 7th to the 4th place in the PQBFL standings.

OldNo7 started the season slowly with a 7th place on week 1, but they have finished in the top half for the last 3 weeks in a row. Guess who led this team once again? Yes, their WRs! Here’s an amazing stat: since the start of the season, the worst outing by either T.Holt or A.Johnson has been 11 pts! So far 27 WRs out of 42 in the PQBFL have an average that’s lower than that! This week, Holt hauled in 6 passes for 102 yards and a TD, while A.Johnson caught 9 passes for 101 yards and a TD. Steven Jackson also played a major role in OldNo7’s success this week (do we have a new Rams fan??): he got 146 total yards with a touchdown, helping St Louis beating Detroit 41-34. Julius Peppers recorded his third double-digit game in a row by getting 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 1 pass defended. He’s second among DLs, only trailing John Abraham who’s played only one game this season. Joseph Addai is battling with Reggie Bush for the starting job at the rookie position for this team. He rewarded his coach for starting him this week with his 1st rushing touchdown and 99 total yards . OldNo7’s tight ends continued to suck though, as they now rank 13th, 16th and 19th in the PQBFL.

WaxOnWaxOff rebounded nicely from a horrendous performance on week 3 with a third place this week. Strangely enough, it was the defense and the rookie that carried the load. Laurence Maroney has looked extremely good this season and he could see his workload increase because of Dillon’s age. He DESTROYED the Bengals defense with 140 total yards and two touchdowns . Thank God he was sharing time with Dillon… Wax has the best 2 rookies of the PQBFL with Maroney and G.Jennings. The Cowboys defense welcomed Vince Young in his first NFL start by scoring 18.5 points (3 takeaways and 1 touchdown). Ray Lewis, Zach Thomas and Antoine Winfield recorded 14, 12 and 11 points, respectively. Winfield has been a nice pick for Wax as he now stands 2nd among DBs. A.Ogunleye disappointed with 1 point, as well as R.Moss with 6 points (only one catch, but luckily for a TD) and Reggie Brown with 6.5 points (despite the Eagles crushing the Packers). Wax now ties the Spitoons at the top of the standings.

UncleJack barely beat the Decepticons for 4th place, which is the highest UJ has finished so far this year. They remain 6th in the standings. UJ was in trouble with W.Parker on a bye week so they had to start M.Anderson who is used primarily as a bench warmer for the Ravens. However, L.Jordan and rookie J.Norwood saved the day for UJ with a long TD run each (59-yard TD for Jordan, 78-yard TD for Norwood). P.Manning had just another day at the office with 17 points against the Jets. M.Muhammad helped the Bears beat on the Seahawks with 5-45 and a TD. R.Mathis recorded only 3 tackles, but 2 of them were good for a sack, and the Colts DE also forced a fumble. The future does not look so bright for UJ though, as this team clearly needs help at the RB position (3 out of the 5 RBs will score 0 point on most weeks), the WR position (Boldin is a good player, but the switch from Warner to Leinart may not help him at all, Muhammad is average, and the rest of the WRs are ranked no higher than 31st in the PQBFL ) and the rookie position (T.Scheffler and D.Williams suck, while Norwood is stuck behind Dunn).

Prior to the Monday night game, the Decepticons seemed to be doomed for a 6th, 7th or 8th place finish. D.McNabb crushed the porous Packers defense with 4 TDs (2 rushing, 2 passing), 47 yards rushing and 288 yards passing, which was good for 36 points! He leads all QBs in the PQBFL by an eye-popping 6.8 pts !! The Eagles defense held the Packers to 9 points and took the ball away 3 times to give the Decepticons a surprising 5th place. They even fell short by only one point from 4th place! W.McGahee scored his first TD of the season and finished the game with 11.5 points. C.Chambers scored a late TD against the Texans, but could not catch Ronnie Brown’s pass on the 2-point conversion (that would have given the Decepticons the 4th place). After leading the league in sacks in 2005, D.Burgess got his first 2 sacks of the season. The Decepticons will be happy to get T.Barber back from his bye week because J.Lewis only scored 2.5 points against the Chargers. Vince Young struggled against Dallas in his first NFL start… We’ll see if he can improve as the season progresses. The Decepticons hope so because their leading rookie ranks 16th in the PQBFL (M.Williams).

The BeaudoinBrothers continued to struggle with a 6th place on week 4. So far this season the defending champs have always finished between 3rd and 6th place. Some of the blame goes to the coaches, who made one more big mistake. They started M.Vick against Arizona instead of M.Bulger against Detroit and this decision ended up costing 19.5 points (they would have tied Wax for 3rd place). On the bright side, they opted for P.Kerney instead of A.Schobel, which rewarded them with an additional 12 points. Over the first 3 weeks of the season, Kerney had scored 2.5 points COMBINED; he scored 16 points this week, sacking Warner/Leinart 3 times and forced a fumble (which is not a big accomplishment when you’re facing Warner…). The Bears D impressed once again with 15.5 pts against Seattle, while rookie D.Ryans did his usual stuff with 9.5 pts. Other than that, things weren’t great for the BBs. In fact, none of their players scored a TD! LT was limited to 8.5 pts against Baltimore and C.Taylor scored 3 pts. CJ, D.Jackson and A.Gates all scored less than 10 points. The BBs’ first 2 picks in the draft, CJ and A.Gates, have under-performed so far (to say the least). This team has nice depth at most positions, but they lack big-time performers.

After finishing 3rd, 2nd and 1st over the first 3 weeks of the season, the Spitoons fell flat with a 7th place on week 4. They now share 1st place in the standings with WaxOnWaxOff. Most of the blame goes to C.Palmer who scored only 4 points against the Pats . Maybe he was still enjoying his revenge versus Pittsburgh on week 3… The injuries at RB hurt the Spitoons a lot this week. S.Alexander and B.Westbrook did not play, leaving this team with only one healthy (and drug-free ) RB: C.Dillon. He played well with a 17-67-1 performance, but the presence of L.Maroney in the backfield is hurting his numbers a lot. The depth at WR on this team is amazing though: M.Harrison, T.Owens, S.Moss and Roy Williams all rank in the top 19. The Spitoons wish they started S.Moss who scored 31.5 pts against Jacksonville. J.Taylor got hurt on week 3, but he still played this week and got 16 pts against the Texans!

The Dugongs have been on a free fall since week 2, and things might get even worse. This team finished 2nd on the opening weekend, but they haven’t finished higher than 6th since then. K.Warner will now backup rookie Matt Leinart for the Cards, which means C.Frye or D.Carr will be the Dugongs’ starting QB. Ouch. Tatum Bell is taking over the starting job in Denver, which means Mike Bell’s numbers will decrease. Chad Jackson is unlikely to emerge as a star in the “spread it around” scheme in New England. Klopfenstein doesn’t get many people excited about his potential either. So who’s the starting rookie for this team? The highest scored for the Dugongs this week was Adrian Wilson, who scored the lone Cards TD on a 99-yard interception return. R.Brown, F.Gore and L.Fitzgerald all scored less than 10 pts. L.Coles and T.Heap did okay with 11 and 13 pts, respectively. The Dugongs dropped from 5th to 7th place in the standings, and I bet they can already feel the Decepticons breathing down their neck .
