WaxOnWaxOff defied the Vegas odds and won for the second straight week.  A team finished in the top two in weeks #1 and #2 in six of the last seven years.  In each of these six instances, that team won the league.  So WaxOnWaxOff is now the clear favorite to win in 2006 .  Everything has gone right for Wax so far.  The team leads the league in strength of starters and is second in coaching efficiency, very close behind the Spitoons.  And Wax has almost no injuries.  Other teams have some hope however, because despite those statistics, the Waxing crew is more beatable than it appears.  Wax’s backups have performed pretty poorly so far this year at the key positions.  E Manning is currently the 2nd hottest QB but Wax’s backups suck (Brunell, Volek, and Delhomme are not even in the top 20).  At RB, Rudi leads the league after 2 weeks, but McAllister will not play the Packers every week and he has to share with R Bush, Cadillac’s engine is stalled, Rhodes is losing more carries to Addai, and T Jones is very disappointing.  At WR it’s not much better.  P Burress ranks 3rd best WR so far, but after him it falls outside of the top 20.  R Moss has been horrible like the rest of the Raiders offense, Burleson is useless, and R Brown is ok but not the go-to guy in Philly anymore.  Wax’s hopes lie in D Branch who will probably play this week after his holdout.  So all in all, Wax appears to have the strongest team but there are still many question marks especially with bye weeks and injuries who might hit.  In week #2, Wax won with E Manning and P Burress benefiting from the OT to add two TDs for Wax.  Rudi also scored 2 TDs and so did D McAllister.  R Moss is the only key player who had a stinker with only 3.5 pts.

The Spitoons finished 2nd in week #2 and are now comfortably installed in 2nd place overall in the standings.  The Ravens led the entire team once again with 26 pts, following up last week’s 24 pts.  How often is a defense the top scorer two weeks in a row?  This week the Ravens completely stoned the Raiders with 6 turnovers, 6 sacks, 6 pts allowed, and only 162 yds of total offense allowed .  After two weeks, only D McNabb (Dec) has more points than the Ravens D!  On offense, the Spitoons got steady production out of C Palmer (17.5 pts), S Alex, B Westbrook, and M Harrison (13 pts each).  On defense, Roy Williams got another double-digit game and is currently the 2nd best DB.  At LB, D Brooks continues to do the job but Urlacher is still overrated and performs at a sub-par level (22nd of 28 LBs).

OldNo7 had a decent week with 131 pts and a 3rd place.  Old moved up to 5th place in the standings and is only 1.5 rank-point behind the Dugongs in 3rd place.  Julius Peppers was an animal this week with 6 tackles, 2 assists, 3 sacks, 1 PD and one block (22.5 pts) .  The rest of the team did well but not great.  Both OldNo7’s RBs S Jackson and Dunn ran for 100 yds but did not score a TD.  Old’s WRs Holt and A Johnson did the opposite: they each scored a TD but had low yardage.  The QB position is emerging as a main problem for Old however.  After Plummer’s horrible week #1, he was benched in favor of McNair.  McNair had a disappointing game against the Raiders with only 7 pts, although that still beat Plummer’s 2.5 pts this week.  Plummer remains in negative territory for the year.  Rookie R Bush was heavily involved in the passing offense this week again, but he did not score a TD and only got 5 rushing yards against the Packers, which cannot be good news for Old.

The BeaudoinBrothers were favorite to win this week due to good matchup but stumbled to a 4th place finish, barely beating the Decepticons on Monday night.  Bulger disappointed with only 8.5 pts at San Francisco.  The Chargers crushed the Titans so bad that A Gates did not have to be used very much in the offense and LT was pulled early in the game for rest.  Heck, the BBs should have started both LT and M Turner and would have been better off because D Foster scored a paltry 4.5 pts .  One of the rare bright spots for the Bros was CJ’s 14.5 pts and Chambers’ 13.5 pts.  The Bears also had another strong game with 17 pts.  On defense, A Schobel put a goose egg on the scoreboard while the BB coaches started the wrong 2 LBs for a second straight week, sending their coaching efficiency to the very bottom of the PQBFL .  The coaches need to wake up fast because the BBs have a good team on paper (2nd in strength of starters) but results are very average so far.

The Decepticons rebounded from the week #1 correction with a better score, but the result was still below average.  Dec came up short by 0.5 pt against the BeaudoinBrothers.  At the end of the MNF game, if Mathis had not been tackled at the 2-yd line on his INT return, J Scobee would have scored the extra-point and beat the BBs.  The Decepticons' coach was pissed .  But the team can point their finger elsewhere.  TE Cooley only scored 2 pts and this position appears to be the biggest weakness of the team.  Rookie Mario Williams only scored 2 pts.  Jamal Lewis only had 5.5 pts against the Raiders.  On the positive side, McNabb had another big game with 28 pts, this time against a good NYG defense, as opposed to week #1 when he shredded the lowly Texans.  At LB, Adalius Thomas had a field day against the Raiders with 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT, 1 PD, and one safety.  A Thomas leads all LBs in the league after 2 weeks.

UncleJack finished tied in 6th place with the Dugongs at 119 pts.  For the second straight week, UJ was in good position for a high finish but had a horrendous MNF game.  W Parker rushed for only 20 yds against the Jaguars.  The Steelers D only allowed 9 pts, but they only had 1 turnover and one sack while allowing the Jaguars to get 362 yds of total offense which affected field position throughout the game.  Not their greatest outing.  UJ was projected 3rd after the Sunday games but could not deliver.  P Manning was the leader of UJ this week with 32 pts and he could have scored more if the Colts game was not so lopsided.  RB Mike Anderson started for UJ, which was a very bold move by the coach, especially considering that it sent first round pick L Jordan to the bench.  Eyes were popping all over the PQBFL with this decision , and one has to wonder whether UJ’s coach was a psychic.  M Anderson only carried the ball once against the Raiders and he went the distance – 34 yds for a TD.  Are you kidding me?  L Jordan got 19 carries but only beat M Anderson by one yard!  Anderson also caught one pass for 7 yds so with only 2 touches he beat L Jordan by 6 yds from scrimmage.  Unbelievable.  This successful coaching decision rewarded the team with the extra half rank point by tying the Dugongs.  Note that T Suggs also had a monster day against the Raiders with 6 tackles, 1 assist, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.

The Dugongs suffered a set back this week after last year’s 2nd place.  The Dugongs had some problems this week because rookie M Bell only scored 4.5 pts as the Broncos running game does not appear to be what it was in the past.  The Dugongs’ WRs were horrible with 6.5 pts for L Fitz and 2.5 pts for Lee Evans.  First round pick R Brown scored 10 pts which is not too bad, but more is expected of him.  The Dolphins offense is struggling as a whole and it is affecting him.  The Dugongs led the PBQFL this week for points scored by the four defensive starters with 48.5 pts.  A Wilson was the leader with 6 tackles, 1 assist, 2 sacks, 1 INT, and 1 PD.  After two weeks he is almost back to where he belongs: DB #1 in the league.

FlyingElvis is being crippled by injuries to their first and second round picks S Smith and Portis .  FE was left in the dust this week and fell to last place in the standings, a pretty familiar spot for this team.  FE has potential but needs the star players to be on the field.  Brady is having a slow start as he scored only 10 pts last week and 7 pts this week.  And backup T Green (3rd round pick) is injured.  At RB, A Green did not do a good job in Portis’ replacement with only 4.5 pts against the Saints.  B Watson continues to disappoint with only 4.5 pts this week.  FE picked the wrong rookie again.  DeAngelo Williams scored 13 pts on the bench while starter V Davis score one point.  The FE coach was heard boasting last week about the great week #1 coaching efficiency.  Well, he should have kept his mouth shut because this week’s 66% coaching efficiency dropped him to 7th this year .  Ed Reed was shut out from the scoreboard and helped FE with the lowest score by the four defensive starters with 29 pts only.
