The Dugongs got their first win of the season and increased their lead on Wax to 3 rank-points in 3rd place.  They also moved to 8 rank-points behind the Spitoons in 2nd place to keep their hopes alive to have the team name on the plaque for the 2nd time.  Rookie Braylon Edwards had not done much this season but he scored 22 pts this week before going down to an injury that ended his season.  The Dugongs will have to rely on D Johnson as they did earlier this season.  Individual defensive players had been a problem all year for the Dugongs but in week #13 they were absolutely dominant: all starters scored at least 12 pts.  Freeney had his first double-digit game since week #3.  Urlacher and K Brooking scored 16 and 14 pts.  Adrian Wilson has been the only reliable player on defense for the Dugongs this year and he kept it up this week with 15 pts.  The Dugongs were able to win this week despite still having no decent 2nd RB.  Tatum Bell only scored 3 pts.  The Dugongs coaching efficiency was a league-high 88.6% this week and they now lead the league overall with 84.9%

The BeaudoinBrothers were unable to get their 3rd straight win but beat the Spitoons by 3 rank-points nonetheless and increased their lead in the standings to 17 rank-points, which is almost unsurmountable with only 4 weeks left.  The BBs can consider themselves very lucky to get out of this week with a 2nd place because they only scored 131.5 pts.  Hasselbeck was benched early in the game on MNF because the Seahawks had a large lead but DB Michael Lewis saved the day with important tackles in the 2nd half to beat Wax by only 0.5 pt and Old by only 1 pt.  This was otherwise a very below average week for the BeaudoinBrothers with LT, Tiki, CJ, and Holt failing to score a single TD.  The team leader this week was rookie Odell Thurman who scored 18.5 pts this week and increased his lead as the top rookie to 2.6 pts per week over Ronnie Brown (Spi).  The BeaudoinBrothers coaches did a miserable job this week by benching Anquan Boldin against the 49ers and starting Chad Johnson against the Steelers and Torry Holt against the Skins instead.  Boldin scored 26 pts on the bench compared to 7 and 10 pts for CJ and Holt.  This was the difference between 2nd place and 1st place.  The team’s coaching efficiency was only 64.8% this week .  Regardless, the BeaudoinBrothers started celebrating their first PQBFL championship in 5 years.

WaxOnWaxOff finished in the middle of the three-team close finish behind the BBs and ahead of OldNo7.  Josh Brown the stupid kicker missed a 40-yd FG on MNF which caused Wax to move back one point and it was the difference as the BBs beat Wax by 0.5 pt.  It is good to see someone else getting phukked in the a$$ hole by a kicker in such a fashion late on MNF.  Hines Ward was the team leader this week with 26 pts.  Ward is having a decent season as the league’s 9th best WR.  C Palmer had a usual 20+ game with 25 pts this week.  Not even playing on the road in Pittsburgh could stop him.  He is becoming more and more franchise player material for Wax.  The problem is that Wax started the Steelers D against Palmer and they only scored 0.5 pt.  The Skins were benched against the Rams with a rookie QB and the Skins D scored 14.5 pts on the bench.  This coaching mistake cost Wax 1st place this week .  Jerry Porter can also be blamed.  He is still one of the most inconsistent WRs in the league and scored less than 10 pts for the third time in 4 weeks.  On the bench, C Chambers exploded for 15 rec 238 yds and a TD (28 pts).  Wax dropped to 3 rank-points behind the Dugongs in 3rd place so the coaching mistakes were very costly this week .  Wax could have been tied with Dugongs instead.

OldNo7 got raped at the finish line losing by 1 pt to the BBs and 0.5 pt to Wax.  Old dropped to 7.5 rank-points behind Wax and their chances of finishing 4th took a big hit.  Portis had a great game against the porous Rams D with 24 pts.  The Bears D manhandled the Packers and scored 20 pts.  Individual defensive players also had good games.  J Peppers got a sack, Farrior got 10 tackles+assists, D Robinson and Clements each scored double-digits.  The main problem for OldNo7 this week was A Brooks.  Why the coach started him against the tough Bucs D is a mystery.  Brooks scored -5 pts (!) while Plummer scored 11 pts and T Green 19 pts.  Just starting another QB would have propulsed Old from 4th place to 1st place!  What a huge mistake .  Steven Jackson’s performance did not help either.  For someone who may qualify as franchise player material in 2006, he sure did not make his case by scoring only 3 pts.  This is his 2nd horrendous game in 3 weeks when he scored -2 pts in week #11.  Rookie C Williams got 100 total yards again but failed to score a TD, which Old sorely needed.

The Spitoons are suffering from a late-season slump as they finished 5th for the second straight week and fell out of contention for the league title .  Very few Spitoons players had a bad week, but nobody was able to carry the team because they did not do better than their season averages: Brees scored 15 pts, L Fitz 14 pts, and S Smith 16 pts.  S Alex scored 2 TDs on MNF but the game was such a blowout that the Hawks benched him in the 2nd half – this killed the Spitoons’ chances.  S Alex finished the game with 14 pts, which is 6 pts less than his season average.  The only real bad game was from Lamont Jordan with only 2 pts.  This had to be expected because the Chargers have the best rush D in the NFL.  Backup RB Westbrook did not do much better however with only 4 pts so it did not really make a difference.  The Spitoons now have to look back in the standings because the Dugongs are much closer to the Spitoons (8 rank-points) than the Spitoons are close to the BBs (17 rank-points).

UncleJack dropped to 6 rank-points behind OldNo7 in 5th place of the standings with another 6th place this season (their 4th of the year).  P Manning had another good game with 22 pts, but it was not a huge game from his part like he had a few weeks ago with the 27-30 pts he scored in weeks #9-11.  The Colts D had another big game against the lowly Titans, scoring 20.5 pts.  Eric Moulds started instead of Randy Moss and UJ’s coach got burnt again.  Moss was not great with 10 pts, but Moulds failed to catch a pass as Lee Evans stole the spotlight with 3 TDs in the first quarter alone.  At DB, the coach started the wrong player – again.  Ronde Barber had 3 INTs and 3 passes defended against the Saints for a total of 24.5 pts on the bench.  Starter D Sharper only scored 3 pts.  This mistake alone cost the team 4 ranks .  UJ therefore joined the BeaudoinBrothers, WaxOnWaxOff, and OldNo7 in the comedy of very costly coaching mistakes this week.  It is worth noting however that rookie M Clayton scored 11 pts this week, his best game of the year.

FlyingElvis finished last for the 7th time in 13 weeks and dropped to 14.5 rank-points behind UJ so they are virtually locked in last place.  The team sucks so bad that even though Larry Johnson has emerged as a top RB since Priest’ injury, FE still can’t win .  LJ scored 22 pts this week and moved up to 6th best RB in the league despite being backup behind Priest in the first 8 weeks of the season.  LJ has a very good chance of catching Tiki and L Jordan before the end of the season to finish 4th best RB in the league.  If Priest does not come back in 2006, FE might elect to go with him as the franchise player instead of W McGahee who was supposed to be the guy long-term for FE as a 1st round pick.  McGahee is part of FE’s problems as he only scored 8 pts this week and he ranks 19th best RB in the league.  Santana Moss has slowed down considerably with 5 pts this week, which is the 4th time in 6 weeks that he scored 7 pts or less.  Rookie Matt Jones has also slowed down due to the absence of his QB Leftwich out with an injury.  Jones did not score a point.  DB Ed Reed was back in the starting lineup after missing 6 games to an injury but he did not make a difference with only 3 pts.
