2005 Week #6

1st Place BeaudoinBrothers 166 pts

2nd Place Spitoons 163 pts

3rd Place WaxOnWaxOff 144.5 pts

4th Place OldNo7 131.5 pts

5th Place Dugongs 119.5 pts

6th Place FlyingElvis 98 pts

7th Place UncleJack 73 pts

Needless to say, the BeaudoinBrothers are on fire.   They won for the third straight week and for the fourth time in six weeks.  Three straight wins in the same season ties a record that has been set on several occasions (Crashers 1997, BeaudoinBros 2000, WaxOnWaxOff 2001, BeaudoinBros 2002, WaxOnWaxOff 2003, BeaudoinBros 2003).  Nobody has ever won 4 straight weeks in the same season, which the BeaudoinBrothers will try to do in week #7.  However, the BeaudoinBros 3 straight wins in 2002 were in the last three weeks of the season, and then the BBs won in week #1 of 2003 so the record is 4 straight wins.  So far this season, the BeaudoinBrothers' lowest score was 129.5 pts in week #1. Three teams in the league has not scored more than 129.5 pts the entire season: OldNo7, UncleJack, and FlyingElvis. Another sign of the complete domination so far: the BBs have scored between 163 and 169 pts in each of the last four weeks ( = consistency).  Nobody in the league has scored more than 163 pts except the Spitoons in week #3.  It remains to be seen if Bulger's injury on MNF will slow the BeaudoinBrothers at all.

The Spitoons finished 2nd for the second straight week and increased their lead in 2nd place to 2 rank-points over Wax. The Spitoons came very close to beating the BeaudoinBrothers with a great comeback on SNF when S Alexander scored 33 pts to give the BBs a scare.  WaxOnWaxOff and other teams are especially worried by the Spitoons given the fact that they finished 2nd with T Owens on bye .  Stokley only scored 5 pts in replacement. The Spitoons would have probably beat the BeaudoinBrothers with Owens in the lineup.  They will be tough to catch up for Wax, Old, and others.

In a repeat of week #5, Wax finished 3rd, but lost ground to the Spitoons and the BeaudoinBrothers.  Wax's 144.5 pts was their 2nd best performance of the year, but fell short again.  H Ward's injury was felt this week as backup J Porter was unable to reach double-digits for the 5th time in 5 games .  Wax's top scorer was C Palmer again with 20 pts.  He leads the league with a 20.2 pts average.  The rookie position has been a weakness so far this year, but H Miller scored 13 pts this week.  If he can keep it up, he may help Wax catch up the Spitoons.  Miller moved up to 7th best rookie in the league.

OldNo7 has been consistently average this season, and week #6 was no exception with a 4th place.  Priest scored 22 pts this week, but almost all of it came in the air rather than on the ground, which is somewhat cause for concern .  The Bears D had fun against the Vikings and scored 15.5 pts.  The Bears D passed the Colts D as the best defense in the league so far.  Cadillac missed his 2nd straight game for Old.  As the league's best rookie, he is probably the player missed the most for Old.  Injuries at WR are starting to take their toll as well.  With A Johnson and D Jackson out, Mason is doing ok but J Smith has slowed down.  He only scored 4 pts this week and 5 pts last week.  He moved down to 12th best WR in the league.

The Dugongs continue to be battered by injuries and they lead the league in injury points, which is not a good place to lead the league .  Joe Horn played but left the game because his injury was too bothersome.  He scored a big zero. With J Walker and I Bruce still injured, P Burress had a disappointing game of only 4 pts.  K Collins lost Randy Moss early in the game and was largely ineffective with only 6 pts.  After a nice week #5 game, Jamal Lewis reverted to his old ways. He only scored 5 pts this week and he has been a huge bust so far.  He ranks 25th RB in the league .  At least the Ravens D woke up this week with 18 pts.  That's their 2nd good game in the last 3 which is a promising sign.  E James scored 28 pts on MNF but the Dugongs were so far behind Old before Monday night that it was not enough to reach 4th place.

FlyingElvis submitted their starters for week #6 using the form on the website but the lineup never reached destination. The coach failed to verify if their lineup was received, so they got stuck with their week #5 lineup.  The Eagles D was on bye and TJ Housh is still injured.  In the meantime, S Moss was benched again and scored 31 pts.  If S Moss and the Dolphins D had started, FE would have finished 4th.  Two more rank-points in the toilet for the FE coach .  S Moss is now 2nd best WR in the league tied with Terrell Owens and has been one of the nicest surprises all year – yet FE keeps him on the bench!  Horrible.  One good news was the performance of 1st round pick W McGahee who scored 18 pts. McGahee has been doing better with K Holcomb is the Bills QB and he moved up to 9th best RB in the league.

The UncleJack coach had to travel to Japan this week but took care in submitting his lineup and giving a pep talk to his players before leaving.  Well the talk did not work.  Several UJ players took advantage from the coach absence by playing like crap or refusing to play due to injuries.  J Bettis only got 4 carries in a loss to the Jaguars.  Why???   R Moss got injured before catching one pass – another goose egg for UJ.  C Dillon dressed up and spent the entire game on the sidelines – a third goose egg.  Rookie Mark Clayton almost contributed to the trio but scored 1 point.  The Colts D had their worst game of the year with only 6 pts.  Everything went wrong for UJ and the players can expect the coach to be pissed when he returns from Japan on Saturday .  The players will be beat up by the coach and will have to produce on week #7.  UJ slipped to 4.5 rank-points behind the 5th place Dugongs in the standings.
