2004 Week #12

1st Place BeaudoinBrothers 189 pts

2nd Place UncleJack 174.5 pts

3rd Place WaxOnWaxOff 133.5 pts

4th Place Spitoons 123 pts

5th Place OldNo7 120.5 pts

6th Place Decepticons 111.5 pts

The BeaudoinBrothers won for the 4th time this season with the 2nd best performance of the season at 189 pts, without Jamal Lewis.  Willis McGahee showed that he can find the end zone by scoring 4 times.  He is quickly becoming one of the best rookies of the league.  Antonio Gates is unstoppable.  With 2 more TDs, he has scored double-digits for the 8th straight week.  This would make any RB or WR jealous.  The Dolphins D had a rare good performance with 23.5 pts and seal the win against UJ.  The BeaudoinBrothers are now back in 1st place overall and heading for the final stretch, they are the clear favorites to win the league.  They need J Lewis back though, because K Barlow has been a huge bust and Suggs/Foster are injured.

UncleJack scored over 150 pts for the third time in the last five weeks.  Manning and Harrison lit up the scoreboard against the Detroit Turkeys on Thanksgiving.  Manning's statistics are beyond words.  He has scored 30 pts or more in the last six games.  He is currently carrying the UJ team.  With the recent problems of the Spitoons, UJ moved to within 6.5 pts of 4th place.  The 3rd place is only 9 pts away.  UJ has found new life.  If we add the averages of all starting players at every position, UJ has the best team in the league with an average of 148 pts per week.  This indicates that UJ could surprise quite a few teams until the end of the season.  It also indicates that the coach has not done a good job because the team's actual average score is only 4th in the league at 129 pts per week.

WaxOnWaxOff finished 3rd and remains the hottest team in the last four weeks with 20 rank points, in front of the BeaudoinBrothers with 15 rank points.  However, this may come to an end soon.  A huge tile fell on Wax's head on Sunday when LB Andra Davis got hurt and he is lost for the rest of the year.  A Simmons is already out for the year and L Arrington has not played since week #2 and nobody knows if we will see him on the field again in 2004.  Wax refused a trade offer for a LB from the BeaudoinBrothers a few weeks ago because they thought they did not need a LB even though the BeaudoinBros thought Wax would be better off with another one.  This is coming back to haunt Wax.  The Las Vegas bookmakers quickly moved the odds on Wax after hearing of A Davis's loss.  In week 12 action, the QB, RBs, and WRs of Wax all failed to hit double-digits.  The team was saved by rookie Colbert who scored 22 pts, Crumpler with 16 pts, and the Steelers D with 16.5 pts.

The Spitoons salvaged an awful week with a good performance by Favre on MNF to barely beat OldNo7 in 4th place.  The Spitoons have fallen hard from 1st place three weeks ago to now 4th place and having to look behind at UJ.  S Alexander disappointed with only 3 pts against the Bills.  D Jackson was also held to 6 pts by the Bills.  The Spitoons coach started rookie Drew Henson who had not started a football game for several years.  This was a mistake because Henson scored -2 pts.  Fortunately this decision was not costly for the team.  Julius Peppers had a monster game with 24 pts by doing everything on the field: a sack, an INT, a TD, a pass defended, and he even blocked a kick.  He is the new leader in the PQBFL at DL.

OldNo7 continues to struggle without Priest Holmes.  The team finished 5th and with the recent success of UJ, it looks more and more certain that OldNo7 will finish last for the third time in five years.  Many players are having up and down seasons.  Torry Holt is one of the most inconsistent players on Old's team.  He had an off game with 7 pts.  J Witten is the same.  After scoring 29 pts in week 10, he now only has 5 pts in 2 weeks.  Old's coach finally benched the disappointing Portis and started Rudi Johnson.  Rudi answered with 200+ yards and two TDs.  This helped the team beat Dec.

The Decepticons finished last for the first time this year and that leaves the BeaudoinBrothers as the only team who has not been last so far.  Culpepper could not benefit from Moss's return and only scored 13 pts.  E James had good yardage again, but with Manning scoring all the TDs, James was held out of the end zone, like so many other weeks this season.  Reggie Wayne who is as inconsistent as Holt only scored 4 pts because Manning threw to Harrison and Stokley this week.  Roethlisberger continues to win games but he is becoming more conservative than a grandma.  He has only scored 15 pts in the last three weeks.
