2004 Week #3
2nd Place - Tied - Decepticons 161 pts
2nd Place - Tied - WaxOnWaxOff 161 pts
4th Place BeaudoinBrothers 138 pts
The Spitoons got their first win in franchise history with a season high 176.5 pts. Rookie Roy Williams is clearly taking over as the league's best rookie with 2 more TDs. He has 4 in the last two games. Brett Favre scored 39 pts in his first good game of the year. Shaun Alexander seems to be scoring all of the Seahawks TDs. He got three more this week. However, his yardage leaves to be desired for a top RB. He has less than 100 yds in his last two games combined. Nonetheless, he is currently the 2nd best RB in the league. Tony Gonzalez also got his first good game of the year with 8 receptions for 100+ yds and a TD. Williams, Favre, S Alex, and Gonzalez did so well that it hid the bad performances of the Spitoons WRs. Jackson and Robinson only got 12 pts combined.
The Decepticons finished 2nd again this week, although this time they tied with Wax. The Monday Night matchup between Decepticons' J Witten and Wax's DB Roy Williams was won by Williams with 10.5 against Witten's 10 which was enough to give Wax the tie. Culpepper had another fine game with 28 pts. E James and M Faulk each scored a TD but did not get much yardage. C Johnson and I Bruce did not score a TD but each got good yardage. So overall solid, but not outstanding performances. Vintage Decepticons. The Decepticons played great defense this week with 45 pts from Ogunleye, R Lewis, D Edwards, and N Harper. Ogunleye was especially dominant with 2 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
WaxOnWaxOff tied the Decepticons in 2nd place at 161 pts. T Jones continues his dream season with 20 more pts. It is shocking that after three weeks he leads all RBs in the league. Tiki Barber benefited from R Dayne's absence to get 150+ total yds and a touchdown. R Moss and T Owens scored again and again and again. Wax traded with Old to get a TE before this week and the trade paid off. A Crumpler only scored 3 pts, but without him, Wax would not have tied the Decepticons. This was a nice trade for the team because they got more than a serviceable backup during Heap's absence. Crumpler is a starter. The team gave up D Graham in return. Graham has done well so far in two games, but he needs more good performances to prove that he is at Crumpler's level, which is probably what OldNo7 is hoping. Carson Palmer is the main reason Wax did not beat the Decepticons. He got a 2nd disappointing game in a row with -2 pts. He was the first rookie taken in the draft and he has not lived up to expectations yet.
The BeaudoinBrothers got an average performance of 138 pts this week and a 4th place. Normally 138 pts is good for 2nd or 3rd place, but this week was high-scoring. Jamal Lewis had his first game worthy of a 2nd round pick with 27 pts. McNabb continues to carry the team on his shoulder with 25 more points. He is currently the league-leader with a whopping 30.7 pts per week on average. Culpepper and Manning are about 3 pts behind, but after that he leads all other QBs by at least 10 pts. LT had a very disappointing game in Denver with only 7 pts. He has yet to explode and is the main reason the BeaudoinBrothers are in the middle of the standings instead of the top. He is currently only the 11th best RB in the league. Despite Rodney Harrison being on a bye week, the BeaudoinBrothers got their best defensive performance of the year with 44.5 pts. Archuleta did well as Harrison's backup with 9 pts. Strahan got 2 sacks and scored 13 pts while D Thornton got an INT and scored 15.5 pts. The BeaudoinBrothers were without a rookie this week because of Winslow's injury, McGahee's bye, Vilma's bye, and Chris Perry not playing yet, still banged up from an injury. Jonathan Vilma is expected to make his first start of the year as LB for the Jets in week #4.
UncleJack avoided last place for the 2nd straight week. P Manning exploded for 46 pts, one of the league's best performances ever. UncleJack also scored 46 pts on defense. P Kerney is on fire and leads all DLs in the league. In week 3, Kerney got three more sacks. D Sharper and R Barber both scored double-digits. UJ's 2 RBs and 2 WRs scored a ridiculous 19 pts together, less than half what the 4 defensive guys scored. TJ Duckett has been absolutely useless this year. He did not even touch the ball in week #3. Keyshawn only caught one pass on Monday Night football, which prevented UJ from beating the BeaudoinBrothers. D Davis was unable to run against the shitty Chiefs D and only got 27 total yds. M Harrison surprisingly only caught one of Manning's 5 TD passes. He has been a disappointment so far. The coach can be blamed for this 5th place. There are rumors that the coach was in Aruba instead of coaching his team on the field. He submitted his lineup in a rush while surronded by naked ladies and while drinking nice beverages. Because of all the distractions, he had no interest in spending a few minutes to study the matchups and he started A Vinatieri who was on a bye week. His replacement D Akers scored 12 pts. Did the BeaudoinBrothers pay the naked ladies to distract UncleJack? The rumors don't say.
OldNo7 traded with Wax to get a starting DB this week to cover up for the draft day mistake of getting three DBs all with a bye week at the same time. Crumpler seems to be a high price to pay (10th round pick), unless D Graham continues his nice season. Old may be banking on Hamlin becoming the team's starter because the team is hurting on defense. This week was better on defense with 31 pts, which was more than the combined week 1 and 2 scores by Old's defense. Hamlin scored 7.5 pts, which is more than what any other DB for Old had scored in the first 2 weeks. J Sharper and J Farrior had decent games with 10 pts and 9.5 pts. On offense, OldNo7 did not score enough TDs. Aaron Brooks was ok with 17 pts, but P Holmes and C Portis did not find the end zone. OldNo7 needs more than 11 pts from them. Torry Holt scored a TD but only got 65 yds. I Bruce (Dec) seems to be the favorite target of Bulger this year. J Smith only scored 5 pts. The 2nd WR of OldNo7 will be a problem all year unless the team trades or someone emerges. OldNo7 only has a one rank-point lead on UncleJack in 5th place of the standings. These two should battle it out all year to decide who will be the league's doormat. Old has not scored more than 120 pts this year in any of the three weeks - this is awful. It's less than UJ's average of 120.5 pts!
Do you guys read the weekly summary? Last year I did not get feedback, so this year I added the feedback section, but nobody used it. If nobody is interested in reading the summary, it's probably not worth writing it. When all owners are silent, the league is not as fun, especially that I don't get to talk to you on a weekly basis at Chi Chi's or wherever you now go. Nobody answered about the Chi Chi's e-mail either...
