WaxOnWaxOff kept their title hopes alive with their first win since week #7.  This is Wax's fifth win this season.  This week was extremely close with only 10.5 pts seperating Wax from UJ in 5th place.  Onterrio Smith was without a doubt the key to Wax's win.  This was Smith's second good performance in a row.  Smith scored 32 pts in the Chiefs' rout on Saturday.  Harrison, Vanderjagt, and Driver did not have great games, but scored enough on Sunday night and Monday night to beat their opponents.  It looks like Shockey is not coming back from his injury.  Unfortunately, he was drafted in the 5th round and the injured player rule only applies to the first 4 rounds so Wax cannot pick up another TE.  It will be extremely difficult for Wax to win the title because they are 3.5 rank-points behind Decepticons.  However, second place is well within reach.  The BeaudoinBrothers only lead Wax by one rank-point.  The BeaudoinBrothers own the tie-breaker though because they have scored 1625 total points compared to 1557 for Wax.

The Decepticons scummed a win against the BeaudoinBrothers by beating them by half a point.  If the Decepticons had been beat by the BeaudoinBrothers, their lead would have been 0.5 rank-point only.  The league title would have been determined by the team who scores the most points in week #17.  But because of this close win, the Decepticons can win the title without beating the BeaudoinBrothers in week #17.  If the Decepticons win in week #17, then great they deserve the championship.  But if not,...  Anyway, in week #16, Torry Holt had another big game in the Rams' win over the Bengals.  Holt caught 10 passes and a TD for 23 pts.  Culpepper scored 24 pts on Saturday in the Chiefs' rout.  However, this lucky bastard fumbled twice but it was recovered by his own team.  Ricky Williams also fumbled, but recovered by the Dolphins.  Holt fumbled... recovered by the Rams.  Foster fumbled twice... only one of them lost.  The Titans D scored a critical touchdown against the Texans and it proved to be very important for the Decepticons.  The Las Vegas odds for Decepticons are now ¼ to 1 as the team is in the driver's seat.

The BeaudoinBrothers suffered the most painful loss in the history of the league.  They got beat by 0.5 in the heat of a championship race... but it's the way it happened that hurt the most.  Darrell Jackson got injured at the start of the game and scored zero.  Portis' injury was also costly because backup T Henry only scored 3 pts while the Broncos RBs ran wild against the Colts on Sunday night.  But the worst of the worst... what's the probability of a kicker missing an extra-point when the team has the ball at their 30 with 5 seconds left?  It's gotta be less than one in a million.  If the Saints had not scored that TD the BeaudoinBrothers would have beat the Decepticons.  And if Carney had not missed the x-pt they would have beat the Decepticons too.  Those two things happening at the same time is unreal.  Just unreal.  Carney had not missed an extra point in EIGHT years and it had to happen this week, not when the BeaudoinBrothers were crushing everybody last in weeks 13-15.  From Associated Press: "Earlier this season, Haslett said he trusted Carney so completely, he would stake his life on him. Reminded of that statement Sunday, the coach said, "Then, I'd probably be dead right now. He's one of the great all-time kickers. I never would have guessed this would happen."  Well the co-commissioners were already thinking about getting rid of kickers in the league in 2004 because drafting kickers is stupid.  Their performance is not predictable like QBs, RBs, WRs, etc.  With this happening in week #16 at such a critical time after a miracle play, you can be guaranteed there won't be kickers in the PQBFL starting in 2004.  They will be replaced by defensive players which will make the league more exciting and fun.

OldNo7 had a golden opportunity to have a big night from A Green and B Franks on MNF to beat everybody and move in a tie for second place.  However, Favre stole the show and Green only had an "average" day of 15 pts and Franks 4 pts.  This sets OldNo7 back 3 rank-points from third place and 4 rank-points from 2nd place.  And OldNo7 is now mathematically eliminated.  In a week where kickers had such a big influence, Akers missed two FGs which cost OldNo7 at least 2 ranks.  Trent Green had an awful game with one single point.  Boldin continues to produce though.  He scored 23 pts in week #16.  He started the year strong, then cooled off... but recently he has been on fire.  He is having the best rookie season for a WR since Randy Moss in 1998 (Moss' average 15.8, Boldin 13.1).  OldNo7 can have their team name on the plaque by finishing first in week #17, the BeaudoinBrothers last, and Wax 4th or 5th (or they can beat the BeaudoinBrothers by 4 rank-points instead of 5 and beat them by more than 64.5 total points in week 17 and OldNo7 will get the tie-breaker).

UncleJack lost another close matchup in week 16.  They finished only 0.5 pt behind OldNo7 and only 10.5 pts behind Wax in first place.  This has been a very difficult season for the reigning champions.  Nothing has gone right.  Manning, J Lewis, and H Ward have had great seasons, but there was too much inconsistency from the 2nd RB and 2nd WR.  Dunn's injury after the trade killed UJ.  C Garner scored a TD this week but as usual did not even reach 50 total yards.

The Spitoons finished last for the 9th time this season.  The good news is that they are not losing by as much in the 2nd half of the season.  Bulger and Faulk had good games for the Rams.  However, E James failed to score a TD on Sunday night, which could have lifted the team out of last place.  The Spitoons's WRs only scored 5 pts combined while Plaxico Burress scored 18 pts on the bench against the shitty Chargers defense.  This can be added to the list of coaching mistakes by the team.  The Spitoons drafted well.  But the coach has not done the job this year.
