2003 Week #12
2nd Place Decepticons 103.5 pts
5th Place BeaudoinBrothers 68 pts
OldNo7 rebounded nicely from last place in week #11 with the team's third win in the last four weeks. Chad Johnson scored 3 TDs and Boldin scored 2 TDs. Boldin had a long stretch of games without a TD but he has now scored double-digits in three of the last four weeks (Old finished first in these three weeks). Priest Holmes and Ahman Green continue to pile up yards like clockwork and still lead all other RBs by more than 2.5 pts.
The Decepticons continue to earn 5 pts with another 2nd place. With this regularity, it will be impossible for other teams to catch up because there are only five weeks left. The Decepticons increased their first place lead to 7.5 pts over Wax. The team wins almost all close matchups and the next best team usually is not close (beat UJ by 4.5 pts, beat Wax by 10.5... but got beat by 31.5 pts by Old). This helps Dec significantly in the standings. Ricky Williams came back to life with a good performance. He scored 2 TDs in the 4th qtr of the Sunday Night game and it allowed Dec to beat UJ and Wax. Other than that, other players all had good games as usual, but nothing extraordinary.
UncleJack finished third with 99 pts. Warrick Dunn had another great game with his new team scoring 19 pts. David Boston is very inconsistent, but when he has a good game, it is very good. Boston scored 29 pts this week. He also scored 34 pts in week 5. Other than that, his average is a mediocre 6.7 pts per week. The Bucs D came up big on MNF to beat Wax. They scored 21.5 pts and they now lead the Patriots by 0.8 pts in the defense rankings.
WaxOnWaxOff made the mistake of giving a rare start to Tom Brady. He scored 15 pts, which was not bad, but regular starter Hasselbeck scored 40 pts against the normally tough Ravens defense. Deuce McAllister had a huge performance for the second straight weeks. He scored 34 pts this week. Wax was hurt by having no healthy TE to start, Vanderjagt only scored 2 pts, the Seahawks played a shitty game against the weak Ravens offense (minus 3 pts), and rookie Calico did not even touch the ball.
The roof fell on the BeaudoinBrothers head in week #12. The team was knocked out of the race with a very disappointing outing. With Gannon already injured, McNair was injured and left the game in the first half after scoring 2 TDs. Portis ran for over 150 yds early in the game, but got injured and played sparingly in the 3rd and 4th qtr. Backup QB A Brooks also got injured so the BeaudoinBrothers are down to almost nobody at QB. Portis, S Alexander, and T Henry are all banged up. Moss had another disappointing game against the bad Lions pass defense. Mason's performance has been declining and he scored only 6 pts. Newly acquired Todd Heap only caught one pass. Nothing is going well for the BeaudoinBrothers and unless the team makes a miraculous comeback, it will be the first time in 7 years that the team does not finish in 1st or 2nd place (and have the team name on the plaque).
The Spitoons did not submit their starters and it was to the BeaudoinBrothers advantage. The Spitoons got beat by 0.5 pt. But honestly, they did not deserve to beat anybody if the coach is not doing his job. The league record of the worse season overall is now within reach for the Spitoons.
