2003 Week #9

1st Place OldNo7 108 pts

2nd Place Decepticons 106 pts

3rd Place BeaudoinBrothers 82 pts

4th Place WaxOnWaxOff 77 pts

5th Place UncleJack 69.5 pts

6th Place Spitoons 69 pts

OldNo7 won for the second time this season with a close win over Decepticons.  Vinatieri scored a season-high 14.5 pts on Monday Night to edge Decepticons.  This is a very big win for OldNo7 because first-round draft choice Priest Holmes was on a bye week.  Brad Johnson continues to do a good job in replacement for the disappointing McNabb with 16 pts.  Johnson is the 4th best QB in the league.  Rookie Boldin scored a TD for the first time since week #1.  Toomer had his first double-digit game since week #3 with 19 pts.

The Decepticons finished in their usual rank, which is 2nd place.  They failed to win for the second straight week due to a disappointing performance on Monday Night.  The Decepticons were leading 101 to 93.5 going into MNF and Sharpe scored only 5 pts.  Anyway, the Decepticons took over first place overall, 1.5 pts in front of WaxOnWaxOff.  Torry Holt is having a monster season.  He caught 11 balls for 200 yds and a TD this week.  He leads all WRs by almost 2 pts (Moss is second with 19.0 and Holt 20.9).

The BeaudoinBrothers escaped with a 3rd place.  They were afraid they were going to get killed, but they managed to get 82 pts.  Gannon was out due to an injury, Holcomb was on a bye week, McNair on bye, and Aaron Brooks was playing at Tampa Bay.  Fortunately, Brooks only had one turnover, he threw for one TD, and he scored 7 pts.  Another reason the BeaudoinBrothers were worried going into this week is that T Henry was on a bye week, and both Portis and S Alexander were playing against good defenses.  Portis and S Alexander had decent games with 16 and 10 pts, respectively.  Josh Brown continues to have a good rookie season and he is doing a great job in replacement for Charles Rogers who is still out due to an injury.  Brown scored 13.5 pts for his best game of the year.  He is the 4th best rookie in the league.

WaxOnWaxOff had a second straight disappointing performance with a season-low 77 pts.  Harrison and Porter only scored 6 pts each.  Onterrio Smith did not carry the ball even once on the day that Michael Bennett came back to the starting lineup.  The next few weeks are not very bright for Smith.  On the positive side, Hasselbeck, Tomlinson, McAllister, and Shockey all had decent games (at least 10 pts), although none of them carried the team on their own with a breakout game.

UncleJack followed up his week #8 win with a shitty performance of 69.5 pts.  Jamal Lewis had the worst week of the season with only 6 pts.  Manning scored 10 pts, which was his lowest score since week #1.  Zereoue started and did not do anything - again (only 4 pts).  UncleJack beat Spitoons by only 0.5 pts.  Elam got injured during the MNF game and it almost cost UJ the 5th place.

The Spitoons came back to reality with a last place.  The coach can be blamed again for the loss.  Eddie George started but he was on a bye week.  If Staley had started, the Spitoons would have beat UJ and Wax.  This is very frustrating to the teams trying to catch Wax.  Newly-acquired Byron Leftwich threw one INT and fumbled twice in a 2-pt performance.  Not a good start with his new team.
