2003 Week #8

1st Place UncleJack 106.5 pts

2nd Place - Tied - Decepticons 102 pts

2nd Place - Tied - Spitoons 102 pts

4th Place BeaudoinBrothers 95 pts

5th Place OldNo7 91 pts

6th Place WaxOnWaxOff 79 pts

UncleJack won for the first time since week #11 last year in a very close contest that got decided on MNF.  David Boston scored 9 pts, which was enough to beat Deceptions and Spitoons by 4.5 pts.  Peyton Manning is having the best season of his career and he leads all QBs by 2.2 pts.  He turns out to be worth the first overall pick in the draft.  Jamal Lewis, Hines Ward, and the Bucs D all scored 20+ pts.  Manning Lewis Ward and the Bucs have provided almost all of the team's production this year.

The Decepticons finished 2nd for the 6th time in 8 weeks, except that this week they were tied with the Spitoons.  The Decepticons were in great position after Sunday to win week #8 and take over WaxOnWaxOff at the top of the standings, but Ricky Williams scored only 4 pts.  Stephen Davis scored 26 pts in a big OT win at New Orleans.  Davis has a better average than C Portis, D McAllister, R Williams, and M Faulk.

The Spitoons got their best performance of the year with 102 pts and they tied for 2nd place.  And the Spitoons could have beat Decepticons if the coach did not start Teyo Johnson who was on a bye week.  This is the 3rd major mistake in four weeks by the Spitoons' coach.  E George scored two TDs in a rare good performance.  Horn scored two TDs.  J Smith scored a 49-yard TD.  Bulger scored 19 pts.  Christie kicked an important 51-yard FG on Monday Night to beat the BeaudoinBrothers and tie the Decepticons.  So many players contributed to the first 100-pt week in the history of the team.  The Spitoons have now two straight good weeks, and they could have been even better if the coach was more competent.

The BeaudoinBrothers got fourth place for the second straight week.  McNair and Mason had a sub-par performance because the Titans used E George to score.  Portis did not score against the tough Ravens defense.  Mare failed to deliver a big performance on MNF.  The BeaudoinBrothers have lost every week where the scores were close.  They have scored as many points as Decepticons in total (764.5 pts), but trail by 4.5 pts in the standings.

OldNo7 came back with a big performance by P Holmes on Sunday night, but fell short to beat the BeaudoinBrothers.  Boldin has considerably slowed down since the opening week.  He scored only one point in week #8.  He now only leads C Rogers by 0.2 pts and A Johnson by 0.4 pts in the rookies standings.  One interesting note: OldNo7 has the longest streak of NOT finishing last with 26 weeks (last time was 2001 week #16).  The record is held by the BeaudoinBrothers with 45 straight weeks (from 1997 week #17 to 2000 week #10).

WaxOnWaxOff surprisingly took last place despite scoring 79 pts.  This is the highest last-place score of the season.  Koren Robinson scored only 3 pts.  He has had a very disappointing season so far (18th best WR).  The problem is that WaxOnWaxOff does not really have a good WR to replace him in the starting lineup.  This is one of the few weaknesses in Wax's lineup.  The Seahawks D scored -2 pts in a very shitty performance against the Bengals.  Onterrio Smith, the other weakness for Wax, scored only 4 pts and he is the 8th best rookie.  This is much lower than expected by Wax who drafted him with the 35th overall pick in the draft.  The return of Michael Bennett will certainly not help him.  Anyway, one bad performance in week #8 and Wax saw they lead melt from 4 pts down to 0.5 pts in front of Decepticons.  However, we can expect Wax to rebound next week.
