2003 Week #1
1st Place BeaudoinBrothers 132 pts
4th Place WaxOnWaxOff 82.5 pts
The BeaudoinBrothers came out strong with a dominating performance of 132 pts. The BeaudoinBrothers scored a total of 10 TDs. If we go back to last year, this is the 4th straight win by the BeaudoinBrothers, which is a new PQBFL record. The old record of three straight weeks was held by the Crashers (1997, weeks #7-9) and the BeaudoinBrothers (2000 weeks #7-9).
The Decepticons showed how improved they are from last year. Last year, the Decepticons were in last place from week #1 until the end as an expansion team. They were very comfortable door mats for the league. They only finished in the top 2 once in 2002, and they already did it in 2003. We'll have to watch them closely in 2003.
The reigning champions UncleJack got off to an ok start this year. Things were not looking too good at first, but Charlie Garner and the Bucs D bailed out the team with the Sunday night and Monday night games.
WaxOnWaxOff entered the season as the favorites along with the BeaudoinBrothers according to the odds established by the Las Vegas bookmakers. Week #1 was a big disappointment for this loaded team. Tomlinson, Harrison, and Shockey had below average games. Rookie Onterrio Smith did not even play and scored a goose egg.
OldNo7 got a great performance from RBs Priest Holmes and Ahman Green, but the team fell flat on its face Monday night with a horrible performance from McNabb and the Eagles D. We can expect OldNo7 to bounce back.
Expansion teams never had great success in the PQBFL, and week #1 was very rough for the new team the Spitoons. They only scored 56 pts. This team has many holes in its lineup and it does not have depth at any position. In three of the last four seasons, the team who finished last was an expansion team. More often than not, the expansion team who finished last did so by a large margin.
