Trades - 2003

October 22nd, 2003

First trade of the season!  The Decepticons traded Byron Leftwich to the Spitoons in return for Michael Bennett.  This trade improves both teams, probably more so for the Spitoons.  Nice move by the GM of the Spitoons to shake off the team who has been in last place since week #1.  This is a very positive move, combined with the signs of improvement of the team in week #7.  The team had been without a good rookie all season long (Teyo Johnson 2.0 pts on average, Larry Johnson 0.3 pts on average).  Byron Leftwich will be a huge upgrade (6.8 pts on average).  The Decepticons needed some depth at the RB position.  After Ricky Williams and Stephen Davis, the best RB is Corey Dillon with an average of only 5.4 pts per week.  Michael Bennett is coming back from his injury soon and the Decepticons are hoping that Bennett will become the starter and will be productive.  This is somewhat uncertain though, because Moe Williams is having a good season, and rookie Onterrio Smith gets some carries too.

UncleJack and the BeaudoinBrothers traded 20 minutes before the trade deadline.  The Beaudoin Brothers send Warrick Dunn and Alge Crumpler to UncleJack in exchange for Todd Heap.  UncleJack was in great need for a RB with Charlie Garner injured, William Green suspended, and Amos Zereoue playing like a loser.  The BeaudoinBrothers gave up Warrick Dunn who has been playing very well recently.  They got Todd Heap in return, the third best TE in the league.
